How can I connect and configure a new AT&T Uverse 2Wire 3801HGV gateway with an older 2wire 1701HG gateway as a router to add more IP addresses in a home network? The 3801 currently feeds a wired lan through three 16 and 8 port switches, and feeds way too many wireless users too. Plus, the 3801 also feeds the VOIP phone system and TV (non HD). I now know the 3801 has a max of 10 or 12 IP addresses that it can handle (where was that little detail in the AT&T material?). The 1701 can and has fed more than 50 wireless and wired connections easily for years. So, what needs to be done make the 1701 feed the wired and wireless lan from the 3801 gateway, as well as let the 3801 continue to feed the VOIP, TV, and some of the wireless lan needs at the same time?
I just had new att uverse Internet installed today. My other 2 laptops, iPhone, and iPad connect and can browse the Internet. My compaq computer says it is connected to the Internet by 2WIRE but when I open Internet Explorer or Safari it cannot display the webpage. I tried troubleshooting with an att tech support rep and they said I need to contact my manufacturer to resolve the issue
I just switched over from AT&T Uverse to time Warner cable for Internet. I bought a Motorola Surfboard sbg6580. I have the surfboard hooked up and all is well. Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.
I have a Belkin F5D8233-4v3 N Wireless Router. To get the wireless Directv connection, directv told me I have to get 2 ports open on my router.1701 and LT2P.
I have a compaq laptop running Vista. We recently had our Uverse wireless router/modem replaced. Now my laptop will not connect to the internet. The laptop connects to the router but shows up as local connection only. Uverse tried all kinds of differant things to no avail. The laptop will hookup with a USB modem but I would like to get it back to how it was before.
I have a WRT300n router and want to connect to my Uverse Gateway. When I connect them & try to use the internet connection I get an error that says a connected router must be capable of using DYnamic IP addresses.
How do you connect two routers together to increase signal through the whole house? I am trying to use the n300 as my main router (its hooked to cable modem) and use the 2wire as an access point. The two are connected by a known good ethernet cable.
I recently "upgraded" to Uverse from DSL. While the speed boost is nice, UVerse comes with a 2wire residential gateway. Unfortunately you can't disable the DHCP functionality in the 2wire router, nor can you disable the router functionality completely and just run it as a modem, which has pretty much made it impossible to integrate into my network. So the partial solution anyway is to keep using the rv082 (yey!) behind the 2wire, assign a public static IP to the rv082 WAN1 i/f, disable the firewall in the 2wire for the rv082, and up and running again. The problem I'm facing now is that I had 3 devices on the LAN that were published using individual public static IPs. With good-ol'-DSL, I could use the one-to-one-NAT feature in the rv082, block any unwanted traffic in the firewall, and everything works. Unfortunately with the configuration options in the 2wire, I can only assign a single public IP address to any one device hooked up to it, in this case the rv082 WAN1 port.i have the one-to-one-NAT configured sequentially on the WAN and LAN side on the rv082 with nothing else hooked up to the 2wire. For example, one-to-one-NAT configuration in the rv082:
WAN range: 66.77.88.91 to 66.77..88.93 LAN range: 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.4
The 2wire is allocating the first public static IP in the range to the rv082 (i.e. 66.77.88.91). This works 100% reliably for this address - however because I can only assign a single address in the 2wire interface the other devices are no longer accessible externally. Curiously it kind of partially works, but not reliably. I can briefly connect to one of the other addresses (say xx.92), but then connectivity is lost to the others.Someone suggested I try using the Dual-WAN feature to get at least two addresses assigned to the rv082. Seemed like a good idea in theory, i.e. because the 2 WAN ports have different MAC addresses, the 2wire should see two different devices and allow me effectively to assign two public IPs to the rv082, e.g. 66.77.88.91 to WAN1 and 66.77.88.92 to WAN2. Of course failover mode won't work here, because only one is connected at a time. However the load-balancing mode did seem like it may work, but something is going on that I don't understand. Internal connectivity is working fine and I can access the internet, but for some reason the 2wire is getting really confused and constantly re-assigning IP addresses to the rv082. I don't know if this is because the host name is the same for both WAN1 and WAN2 ports, or there is something in how the rv082 does the load balancing.
- Is there any tricks to getting the Dual-WAN to work in the way needed to essentially have two simultaneous internet connections?
- Would it be possible to buy a 2nd rv082 and have it on the same LAN? How would I configure this?
- Is there an alternative Cisco router that may work better with what I'm trying to do?
Trying to set up the Cisco VPN router for remote acces to our network. We have ATT Uverse DSL and it is a Motorola Router, i think NGT 510.the Uverse router has very limited setup options.I cannot set it up as a bridge. The only thing I can figure out is to set the ip passthrough option to the VPN router. We have a static ip address for our internet service.
I have tried several setup and connection options, but cannot get it to work.
1. How to physically connect the routers and network devices?
I have ATT uverse and they gave me a router 3600HGV (2Wire). The router went into the communication box of the house from where it connects to various ethernet ports in various rooms of the house.
The connections work, but they are slow and sometimes do not even work. My guess is that there is IP conflict between the two routers. I am not even able to go to the 192.168.1.254 router config.
Currently I have 2 different modem running in my working area which is modem A and modem B. Whenever user from Modem A(192.168.0.1) or Modem B(192.168.0.10) would like to print or scan something using the shared printer, I need to manually plug the cable into either Modem A or Modem B depends on the network the user are currently using. How I do previously is only set DHCP on Modem A and disable DHCP for modem B so that Modem B will share DHCP assigned by Modem A. Both modems connect to the same Switch with the printer cable so both network user can use it together. But the problem now is I have to enable DHCP for both modems and causing the previously method can't be use anymore. So is there any other way that I can link both Modem A and Modem B with each assign different DHCP to link with 1
I have a building with 30+ pc's, printers and cameras. I do not have a "server" setup, however I want them to be connected to the T1 line comming into the building for internet as well as file sharing, etc.Currently, I have the T1 line connecting to as Linksys E3000 wireless router. From there I have a cable connected to the wireless router (it has 4 ports also) and then going to a Netgear FS524 (24 Port 10/100 MBPS Fast Ethernet Switch) via port number 24. I then have another CAT5 cable connected to a port on this switch, extending to a D-Link DES-1024D (another 24 Port, 10/100 switch)I then have the 30+ CAT5 cable coming into all three of said devices... No then, I get Internet connection on all units, the problem is that I cannot see all of the devices.
my Netgear WPN824v2 router won't connect to the internet. It stopped connecting after a power outage 4 days ago. All local connections work fine. wireless unaffected. I tried a different router, but it wouldn't work either. Contacted my ISP, they said get a new router. Tried re-installing firmware, no change. I haven't tried it on a different internet connection yet, but plan to visit a neighbor and do some begging
I just purchased netgear N150 single band wireless router WNR1000v3. I cant get to the 192.168.9.1 site to detup manually and when i insert the set up CD it scans the config & says that my ethernet adapter isn't intstalled or enabled....I HAVE A CABLE FROM THE SATELLITE MODEM to my computer which works fine when I am connected direcrtly to it, so I dont get what the problem is. Do I need a different cable connecting my computer to the LAN on the router or am I missing something?
I have a desktop connected to our work network. It's running XP Pro. I also have a laptop running vista home. Is there a way to hardwire that laptop to the desktop, so i can share files between those two computers, while ALSO keeping my desktop connected to my office network?Since it's vista home, I can't connect the laptop to our network, since it can only connect in workgroups, not networks. But if I'm just able to just use the laptop, create files, and then either save them to a shared folder with my desktop or just save them to the desktop with a switch or something, it wouldn't be a problem that my laptop can't connect to the network.
Dell dimension 2400 XP home. Connects fine to old linksys g router. With new qwest dsl modem/router get IRQL not less than or equal as soon as I click on connect .Blue screen stop and must reboot.Qwest router works fine with my lenovo lap top. Win 7.
I just got a DSL Modem router (DSL 2750U) which has DSL input for internetconnectivity. My internet service provider provides RJ45 Cable which needs LAN input socket on a router for internet connectivity. How do I connect?
I am trying to connect a Netgear wirless router to my cable modem. I have followed the instructions on the set up wizard but it fails to get a connection with the IP and DNS info I provide.I got the IP address info by connecting intially direct from the modem to the PC and then went to Run CMD and type ipconfig /all. I then started the set up wizard and followed the instructions, turning things on in specific order etc. After input the IP and DNS info it reports an error and tells me to check the address information is correct. My internet is a static IP connection (so it tells me and the IP information doesn't change).
After a power failure nothing could connect to the internet anymore. I called MTS (ISP provider) and they had me change some setup on my PC. Now my PC connects to the internet, but nothing else will connect (X Box, WII, iPods, Laptop). They were connected wireless before the power outage through my router. MTS said they are only responsible for ensuring their model works, not routers.I have checked some router settings. It is set for DHCP with 50 users.
I have HP laserjet 4000 tn. Had an old router and upgraded to a new wireless router, when connecting it to the new router, the port I connect to has the amber light come on. I have reset to factory setting thinking it would reset and capture a new ip address. still giving me problems. try connecting it to my macbook pro and cannot get a "fix" on the printer either. I know it has to do with the configuration of the printer.
I've got a Cisco DPC3825 modem that I also use as a wifi router. Conntected to it I have 4 eithernet cables:
1. From PC to Router
2. From another PC to router
3. From TV to router
4. From a Dlink Powerline Adapter to Router. It took me a while to figure this out but when I unplug all the eithernet cables and plug back in #1 and #2 (from above) the internet works. When I plug back in #3 and #4, the internet dies. Meaning, I am connected to the network but not the internet. I've reset the modem, changed SSID and restarted the PC many times but still can't figure out this issue.
I've had my network up and running for several years with no issues. Last week I upgraded my router to a Dlink 826L and now anything connected to my downstream Dlink DSS16+ can't be accessed.
trunk port connecting but not allowing access to tree; i connected 4506 port to 3550 port; and i set both to switchport mode dynamic desirable; the 4506 port was set with switchport mode access and switchport mode access vlan ?; i used the command default switchport access vlan to remove the vlan; the ports are up but as I stated I cannot connect ot our workgroup tree
A newer router that I got from a friend, a CISCO Linksys WRT310N, is not connecting to my XP computer via a CAT5e cable. It willconnect for about 5 to15 mins, then lose connectivity. Ihaven't tried with a faster CAT6, since my dog chewed through my other one,and I have yet to get a new one. I used an older NETGEAR B/G router and it worked fine.
I have a Kguard H264 CCTV system installed that is connected to my BTHome HUb 2 via ethernet cable. The CCTV system is registered on the home hub and has a direct ip address of 192.168.1.100 and is configured to forward port 80 which is correct.Problem is how do i now connect to the CCTV system outside of my home network i.e. using my work computer?
We had to send our Canon Pixma MP830 all in one printer in for repairs, and we have an mx870 loaner. The MP830 was connected directly to the desktop computer and to a lap top in another room via a dlink router. But we do not know how to get the lap top to recognize the MX870. We tried adding it and entered the name Canon Pixma M870, and the program does not accept the name.
My modem is an Arris Model TM502GI don't remember how to set it up. That is what cable goes where & is there anything to do on the PC With WiFi for it to connect with my router?I am 70 years old with a limited knowledge of computer and other electronic gadgets.
i have a strange connection problem. My wifi adapter which should be Dell wireless 1701 is not detecting my router automatically. Sometimes it takes one hour to detect it. Sometimes it detects it but connection fails. My router works fine with a tablet and another laptop. My N5110 is having a problem only with that device which was working fine for few days. It is able to detect neigbour's network and another router.
