Mar 21, 2013I just updated my F5D8233-4 ver 3000 router with the latest firmware. Now only one of the hardwired ports works (#1) and it causes the router trouble enough sometimes to make it disconnect from the cable modem. All the wifi connections (5 of them) work well and do not appear to cause any trouble. What can I do?

Apr 20, 2012What I'm trying to do is to get my Xbox connected to the internet through my router (wired connection), but I want to have my NAT open also. But when I put in a static IP into the Xbox manually and open the ports in my router, it makes it so my Xbox can't connect to Xbox Live at all. Although, if I just leave it to the automatic setting on my Xboxs network options, I can connect just fine. But, I end up having a strict NAT type, unless I restore to factory defaults in the networking options on the Xbox.

The 3801 currently feeds a wired lan through three 16 and 8 port switches, and feeds way too many wireless users too. Plus, the 3801 also feeds the VOIP phone system and TV (non HD). I now know the 3801 has a max of 10 or 12 IP addresses that it can handle (where was that little detail in the AT&T material?). The 1701 can and has fed more than 50 wireless and wired connections easily for years. So, what needs to be done make the 1701 feed the wired and wireless lan from the 3801 gateway, as well as let the 3801 continue to feed the VOIP, TV, and some of the wireless lan needs at the same time?

Mar 23, 2011I'm currently using a Belkin F5D8233 wireless router and an HP DV6 laptop. My internet used to work just fine, but after I reinstalled my OS a couple of months ago I started having a funny problem. My internet will randomly stop working, I'll visit facebook, check a blog, and then i'll try to check my email and the page won't load. Then my internet won't work again until I reset my computer. The weirdest part is that Windows acts there's nothing the matter. The little icon in the notification bar still says it's connected and if I click repair, windows tells me there's nothing to repair. My wife has a different laptop and she's still able to access the internet fine after I've been kicked off. I've checked for a router firmware update and it's up to date. I bought a usb wireless-n adapter thinking my laptop's adapter might be bad and that didn't work. I considering buying a new router, but I'm not confident that will solve the problem since my wife's internet is still fine and because my internet works again when I reset, so it's not like the router is blocking my IP right?

The port forwarding page via 192.168.2.1 in the browser looks like this, with the Private IP Adress changed to whatever corresponding IP address I have set (checked with cmd /ipconfig).
After testing with multiple online port checking tools, the ports remain closed.

Mar 10, 2011I've installed XAMPP on one of my Vista computers, and intend to use it as a server. The internal IP address of the server is A.B.C.D. The internal IP address of the DIR-615 is A.B.C.E. whatsmyip.com says that external address of the server is F.G.H.I (and so is everything else inside my network). I have Filezilla listening on port 21. I've turned Windows Firewall completely off on the server, and my ISP (Time Warner / Road Runner) says that they never block any port.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Port Forwarding, and set ports 21 & 90 to forward to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. That didn't work.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Virtual Server. I set a virtual server on port 21 to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. It made me turn off Port Forwarding, and it wouldn't let me use both 21 & 90 on the same rule, so made two rules. That didn't work either.
I tried setting A.B.C.D as a DMZ host. That still didn't work.I can ftp connect into A.B.C.D from one of the other computers in the network. People outside the network can't connect to F.G.H.I. I can't connect to F.G.H.I. from inside the network. The same is true of Apache (but ports 80, 81 & 443), Ventrilo (but ports 3784 & 6100) and MySQL (but port 3306). I figure that FTP is the easiest to test, so I've been just trying to get that to work.In FileZilla Server Options, I am bound to *, I have no filters, and my passive mode is set to "Retrieve external IP"As far as I can tell, if I've ruled out anything inside my network (by connecting internally), and I've ruled out my ISP (they don't block), then it must be the router. I have recently been given a site that is using a dyndns.org client for name to ip address resolution on an outside interface that is dhcp assigned. I created an access-list to open up ports 41794 and 41795 to an engineering application but everytime I try to connect from the outside I get a syn timeout. The application works when inside the lan. Basically I want to allow outside connections from anywhere on the outside to go to ports 41794 and 41795.
