I have a Kguard H264 CCTV system installed that is connected to my BTHome HUb 2 via ethernet cable.The CCTV system is registered on the home hub and has a direct ip address of 192.168.1.100 and is configured to forward port 80 which is correct.Problem is how do i now connect to the CCTV system outside of my home network i.e. using my work computer?
View 4 RepliesUnlike most DVR's, this particular model has a 4-Channel RJ-45 input (others normally have analog BNC video inputs) this is achieved since the cameras come with video baluns which make use of ethernet (RJ-45) wire.can I have such a set-up without using a DVR, instead I would channel 4 cameras to a wireless router with 4 RJ-45 inputs? From there maybe I could connect it to the internet for remote viewing or to a home network for better streaming / saving video recorded into hard disk?

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

Is there a way to hardwire that laptop to the desktop, so i can share files between those two computers, while ALSO keeping my desktop connected to my office network?Since it's vista home, I can't connect the laptop to our network, since it can only connect in workgroups, not networks. But if I'm just able to just use the laptop, create files, and then either save them to a shared folder with my desktop or just save them to the desktop with a switch or something, it wouldn't be a problem that my laptop can't connect to the network.

The primary router is a linksys WRT360n and is stationed inside the main home, while the 2nd is a linksys WRT160N located in my office. I've connected them via the lan to lan configuration and have disabled DHCP server on the 2nd. I can access the 2nd router via my primary PC but am unable to access the internet or see the primary from the PC connected to the 2nd router.

Had an old router and upgraded to a new wireless router, when connecting it to the new router, the port I connect to has the amber light come on. I have reset to factory setting thinking it would reset and capture a new ip address. still giving me problems. try connecting it to my macbook pro and cannot get a "fix" on the printer either. I know it has to do with the configuration of the printer.

View 4 Replies View Relatedafter being able to see the cctv on the local network and remotely, we are simply not able to connect remotely again. This happens several hours after leaving site. The clients ip seems to be unchanged from last time, and we do get a " resource online but isn't responding to connections attempts" message from IE8. The ports have never actually shown as open from online port verification sites, but again, we were able to see the cams via 3g and from another town just fine.And we can see them on the locally. I'm convinced it has to be some setting on the router relevant to port forwarding.

Their home is built of bricks (inside walls and outside), so basically going about 10 feet around a wall will drop a wireless signal.One problem is that the router outside in the office has a separate network than the router inside of the house by the kitchen. They're both configured to use different SSIDs/encryption keys, etc, but they both are connected via ethernet cable. Problem is, moving from one side of the house, she has to switch her tablet/iPhone to the network being broadcasted by the first router, and then vice versa when going around the second wireless network.
Can I just simply configure the router inside as a wireless bridge and use the exact same SSID/encryption etc and have only one network show up regardless of which one she's closest to?I basically want to set up her network to where she just needs one wireless network, and no matter where she go in her house, she's connected to the same network (regardless of which router it's connected to), and still have internet access.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to connect to the internet via the VPN without also being connected to the internet via my home wireless network? Right now, whenever I disconnect from my home wireless network, my connection to the VPN will also cut off. This is a problem because should my connection via the VPN ever be interrupted, my home wireless connection would then "take over" the connection, and the eb sites I'm visiting would then be able to see my real IP address, which makes having a VPN pointless. I'd like to have it so that if my VPN connection is interrupted, I will simply not have internet until the VPN connection comes back.

In one of the machines(client_1) i have installed the VMWARE.VMWare and Clinet_1 are talking to each other whereas VMWare and other clients are not getting connected. In the upstairs study we have two desktop computers connected to the router via the wireless network. I have a laptop computer used around the house and garden which also uses the wireless network.A laser printer and an inkjet printer are both connected to one of the computers in the study via USB and are shared with all computers.This means that the computer with the printers connected must by running if anyone requires prints. Both printers have USB and Ethernet ports – but running a network cable to the router downstairs is impractical.Is there a way of connecting the printers directly to the network and leave them powered up so they can be used by any of the computers. I am hoping that there is some extra hardware that will enable me to do this perhaps via wireless.Or – would it be possible to use mains Powerline Network adaptors – with one adapter connected by Ethernet cable to the router and other adaptors connected by cable to each printer.

Whenever user from Modem A(192.168.0.1) or Modem B(192.168.0.10) would like to print or scan something using the shared printer, I need to manually plug the cable into either Modem A or Modem B depends on the network the user are currently using.How I do previously is only set DHCP on Modem A and disable DHCP for modem B so that Modem B will share DHCP assigned by Modem A. Both modems connect to the same Switch with the printer cable so both network user can use it together.But the problem now is I have to enable DHCP for both modems and causing the previously method can't be use anymore. I do not have a "server" setup, however I want them to be connected to the T1 line comming into the building for internet as well as file sharing, etc.Currently, I have the T1 line connecting to as Linksys E3000 wireless router. From there I have a cable connected to the wireless router (it has 4 ports also) and then going to a Netgear FS524 (24 Port 10/100 MBPS Fast Ethernet Switch) via port number 24. I then have another CAT5 cable connected to a port on this switch, extending to a D-Link DES-1024D (another 24 Port, 10/100 switch)I then have the 30+ CAT5 cable coming into all three of said devices... No then, I get Internet connection on all units, the problem is that I cannot see all of the devices.

The network seems to be a large number of routers all with the same SSID on the same network.Usually my connection is great; but sometimes my computer decides to switch to the router from another flat. A few minutes ago my wireless config utility told me I was connected to the flat 24 router. I am now connection to the flat 26 router. It wouldn't be much of a problem, only it's give or take, around 140 times slower because of how far away it is. Heres a quick comparison of the speeds:ad Connection: (The ping here is very mis-leading, it took several minutes to calculate the ping and several more minutes simply to start the download whereas on the previous test it was instant)Here is one I took in December which shows how bad the ping can get:How do I tell my computer to ignore those other routers with the same SSID? They have different MAC addresses, is there something I can do with that? Windows can't tell the difference, I have to do it through the driver software that came with my Edimax wireless card, it recognises each router seperately but ultimately it always recognises it primarily by it's SSID. Sometimes it sticks to the good one, sometimes it changes every few minutes and I have to manually change it back and it is very frustrating, can't it just ignore the bad connection completely?
I can't login to change any of the router settings and the router doesn't have any ethernet ports for students to use, so I need a solution from the PC end (If I could i'd simply change the SSID to something slightly different so it didn't clash, then there would be no problem). The router is literally right outside my door, but my computer insists on switching to the one 50 metres away instead
What I learned was it was bad to connect directly to the modem because you are left open to the internet. Currently my friend just got the internet and I told them to buy a router but they did not, and just have it directly connected to the modem. Is this fine, because they only have one computer, and it works fine for now, but wouldn't this be prone for attack?

One PC - Lets say Server A has 2 NICs with Ip addresses, 10.0.0.10/30, 10.0.0.2/30.Other two computers Server B and Server C have single NIC with addresses 10.0.0.1/30 and 10.0.0.9/30 resp. So as you can see that there are two subnets 10.0.0.2 - 1 and 10.0.0.9 - 10. I can ping B and C from A. I want that B and C can also ping each other and if I run tracert on B or C, it should give me the route to the destination via A. All this without any other hardware. Like using route add... etc eg. if I write tracert 10.0.0.9 on B, it should return a route like 10.0.0.1-----10.0.0.10------10.0.0.9. Refer to the image that I have Attached
