I need to increase my wireless speed higher that what Uverse gateway is supplying. Want to install a 802.11 N router behind the uverse gateway and disable the uverse wireless. Uverse gateway will allow this.
View 4 RepliesTrying to set up the Cisco VPN router for remote acces to our network.We have ATT Uverse DSL and it is a Motorola Router, i think NGT 510.the Uverse router has very limited setup options.I cannot set it up as a bridge.The only thing I can figure out is to set the ip passthrough option to the VPN router.We have a static ip address for our internet service.
I have tried several setup and connection options, but cannot get it to work.
1. How to physically connect the routers and network devices?
2. How to setup both routers to play nice.
I have been trying to connect to my 2Wire Uverse wireless router and it not going well. I had it connected and for other reasons I went into the router setup and disabled wireless, did nothing else. When I enabled wireless again (and did nothing else) I could not connect my Win 7 computer. Everything else connects just fine so I know it's not the router but this Win 7 computer.When I click on the connections icon it shows me all the available wireless networks and the Uverse show but has a red X on it and the popup says something to the effect it's trying to connect but the connections are not the same as are in the profile or the info.

-about every 2-4 weeks, the router will spend a night constantly locking up and rebooting itself. ATT says they don't know why, and wanted me to check the power?? When it does this, it will do it for 30 minutes to TWO HOURS.
-every couple of days, the channels will freeze. If we change channels and then back, it returns to normal for a bit. Sometimes for a while, sometimes only for a minute. We have two boxes, each one does it. Even affects DVR playback. Internet doesn't seem to be affected, so I had originally though it was the boxes. ATT has remoted in, and can't find anything out of the ordinary.
I have att uverse which is wireless G. I want to add a 2nd router behind it that will have wireless N. I've made the connection. I see it on my list of networks but doesn't allow me to access it.

I would plan on running a cable from my U-Verse modem to my router then to my switch giving me wireless and 8 gigabit ports. Would that work? Due to a petty argument with his girlfriend..I overheard her and her friend and discovered that she had logged into the Uverse router/modem (192.168.1.254), which shows all devices that are connected. On this page it has links to access files for each device. Clicking on that, she was able to read all my files. Nothing to hide, I just don't like snoopers and even wonder if she could change settings or do something to mess up my computer. I cannot figure out how to block access by her Uverse thru my Linksys wireless adapter.
I normally do not allow any sort of file sharing and everywhere I have looked on my PC, nothing is enabled to file share or remote desktop share or anything like that. I'm not a total noob but have no clue if and how I can change this on my end so that she cannot get into my PC while I'm connected to their internet. Their router/modem is a 3800HGV-B.
I have a WRT300n router and want to connect to my Uverse Gateway. When I connect them & try to use the internet connection I get an error that says a connected router must be capable of using DYnamic IP addresses.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.

Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.

Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.

I purchased Linksys (Cisco) EA2700. For the moment it is being used as an access point for a wireless network (WLAN) and an Ethernet switch. 4 laptops are being connected to it through the wireless network, the wire connects one computer and a separate ADSL modem (it is used for accessing Internet). As a result minimal ping to any of the devices in wireless network is 8 ms – the best result and sometimes rises to 20 ms. Consequently when working with local network resources one suffers from speed decrease. Ping to the access point through the wire varies from 1 to 8 ms. These delays are quite strange as even on cheaper routers ping does not rise above 2 ms (usually <1ms). Is it normal for the device?
