I have a router setup that worked for me for months, suddenly, it stopped detecting the wire connected from the POE adapter.When the wire is directly connected to my pc, the connection works and i have internet. But when thru the router, the WAN Light is not even lit.Btw, just for checking purposes, I tried connecting a wire from my pc to the router wan port, and the WAN light lits up.
View 1 Repliesi own an THOSHIBA SATELITE M300 using WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE SERVICE PACK 1 and recently my laptop has stopped finding any wireless networks. Other laptops connect via wireless to the hub without any problems so it must be a problem with my wireless card. Ive tried turning off my hub, as well as system restore and uninstalling my wireless device and letting my laptop reinstall it but it hasn't changed anything. my device manager says that my wireless card is working fine.Even i reinstalled the drivers.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI live in student halls where we only have connection to the internet via Ethernet cables and for some reason it seems to have stopped detecting the cable. I remember I had the same problem when I arrived and I think we eventually resolved it by disabling then re-enabling the adapter, but this time that doesn't seem to have solved it. It also seems to have been triggered this time by a Windows (7) update, but doing a system restore doesn't resolve it. The cable and wall socket both work and I've tried my laptop in different rooms but it still won't detect a cable. I've checked device manager and everything seems to be functioning properly, but the port doesn't even light up when a cable is plugged in.

Other computers in the house have no problem detecting and connecting.Wireless is enabled, it happens no matter how close or far from the router. The network is set to broadcast the ssid, etc. I have not changed any settings on my laptop or router, this has suddenly started happening. Have updated drivers to no effect.Occasionally, the network pops up when I re-start the laptop. Rarely works and sometimes it will detect the network, then fail to connect, then the network can't be detected at all.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOk, so with my WLC2504 implementation, I use the 4 ports to physically segment my wireless networks. Here is my setup:
Port 1 (Management) - Internal IP so I can manage the WLC from our internal network (Untagged)
Port 2 - Connected to our core stack and tagged with VLAN 14
Port 1 and 2 are both connected to the same core stack
Port 3 - Connected to a RV016 Linksys which is connected to our fiber connection to the outside (Untagged) - External connection for laptops
Port 4 - Connected to a Linksys wireless router (with wireless disabled) (Untagged) - External connection for smartphones
The TAC engineer I talked to just told me that I can only have one untagged interface on the WLC. If they are physically connected to different switches, thus physically segmenting the network, should it matter?
The wireless works just fine. What I am having issues with is getting a client that is hard-wire connected to the RV016 to get a DHCP address from the WLC.
I turned on the monitor (I had left the system running) and it said that it had recovered from an unexpected shut down. It didn't automatically connect to the wifi, so I opened the connections window to connect to a network and it said "Windows cannot find any networks." I refreshed several times and nothing happened. I clicked the option underneath "Diagnose why windows can't find any networks," and it came back with "This computer does not have a wireless adapter installed and configured." I then opened up the device manager, and under network Adapters, the only thing is "Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection." I checked it out and it says it's working properly, and I believe that this adapter is for when you actually connect a cable directly to the PC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear DGN2000 router wired to a desktop machine running windows 7. In another room i have another desktop machine running windows XP. I have a netgear WN111v2 network adapter connected to this machine. The network adapter says it is connect to the router, the icon in the bottom right hand corner is green and the signal strength is in high 90%s, yet when i start up internet explorer the message i get is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
Also, in the house there is a laptop running windows 7 (connected wirelessly - no problems) another laptop running windows xp (connected - no problems) and an Xbox 360 (connected ok). Been on to netgear tech support all they could suggest was to lower the security settings on the router, ultimately lowered down to disabled - still nothing. Disabled homegroup on the windows 7 machine still nothing running out of ideas now.
The other day I went to a friends house, came back home, booted up my PC, and my wireless network adapter wasn't working. I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.

I have a Toshiba Satallite Pro L300 laptop.I went to the Toshiba site to find a download for the wireless adaptor but couldn't even find my model number on their system. I can get on the internet by plugging directly to the modem, and my internet provider suggests it must be the adaptor. View 13 Replies View RelatedIt may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').

Now I can connect to the wireless network just fine but no internet. Several other computers work on the same wireless network. I have the inspiron 15z Ultrabook for only 2 months now and it's drives me crazy. There are a lot of other forums out complaints out there that say the same thing I'm experiencing about the Wi-Fi adaptor of the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook.Within our family we have 4 laptops and sometimes when the kids are home visiting with friends there can be 6 to 8 laptops within our home online at the same time. But, I will have to make a correction, because the Wi-Fi Adaptor on the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook continuously drops off the net. It does it so frequently I’m embarrassed to tell others. It isn’t a fast fix either as it can take up to 20min to get the win-Fi adapter to start receiving internet signal. Sometimes it only takes 5min. What is odd, all of our other laptops, both new and old, never have this problem unless the power goes out after the storm . I have updated all the drivers and followed the steps on a Dells customer support. I love the touch screen, the keyboard with light behind the keys.
BUT, I can't live with the Wi-Fi adapter that cannot hold on to a signal and ends making the simplest of work a headache. Just last night I spent over an hour trying to get back on a wireless connection and finally had to go to an old XP laptop to get online. The whole point in having an Ultrabook is having a machine that is portable, works effortlessly with wireless connections and makes where ever you are a virtual office.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.

Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.

Had problems getting "limited connectivity etc" messages 'cos wasn't getting IP address allocated. Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. Tech support says that it's most likely the power adapter.As I understand, most what are called modems or routers today are a combination of these two, is that right? I see them in stores ranging from $30 to $200 or more, and they all say they do the same thing - almost identical wording. If it turns out that my adapter is good, what should I be looking for?
