View 4 Replies View Relatedi am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy housemates have been having a trouble with network coverage in my house, the router is located in the basement of my house, perfect for me as my room is also down there (Ethernet). Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.

Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. Tech support says that it's most likely the power adapter. As I understand, most what are called modems or routers today are a combination of these two, is that right? I see them in stores ranging from $30 to $200 or more, and they all say they do the same thing - almost identical wording. If it turns out that my adapter is good, what should I be looking for?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe router works fine until I plug the 4th wire in the back, which goes to a 2nd desktop computer, then it is only a matter of time until the router drops all internet connections including the direct wire to desktop #1, wireless, and the other two wires. This is my 2nd e2000 router since Amazon replaced the first one after about 4 months as it was having the same problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the delay is introduced getting data onto the wire. However say there are two hops to the destination server, each hop is via equal connectivity speeds say 1G interlinks.
Question:
Is there serialization delay FROM the wire/interface onto router/switch backplane/fabric?
Is the serialization delay from backplace/nic back onto the wire to the next hop? - Or if using a switch with equal in/output speed transmitted without serialization?
What happens with a routed interface vs switched?
Most articles discuss the latency induced between the much higher OS/NIC interface out to the wire, but not the switch/router serialization that does or doesn't occur.
I purchased Linksys (Cisco) EA2700. For the moment it is being used as an access point for a wireless network (WLAN) and an Ethernet switch. 4 laptops are being connected to it through the wireless network, the wire connects one computer and a separate ADSL modem (it is used for accessing Internet). As a result minimal ping to any of the devices in wireless network is 8 ms – the best result and sometimes rises to 20 ms. Consequently when working with local network resources one suffers from speed decrease. Ping to the access point through the wire varies from 1 to 8 ms. These delays are quite strange as even on cheaper routers ping does not rise above 2 ms (usually <1ms). Is it normal for the device?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI Have a D-Link 364M, and a dynamic IP. But I've had this IP for over 2 years now and it does not changeCalled the ISP, they said it's a router issue and I need to contact D-LInk. D-Link says they do not cover my router anymore so I can't get support. Unplugging the router for 24 hours did nothing So I assume the problem is some internal setting on the router website that is doing this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Charter and have been at this location for several year. All was well until they added one of those "walled gardens" like Comcast uses. When the cable modem comes on, and the wireless router is turned on, the router has trouble getting it's dynamic IP from the network. If I plug my workstation directly into the cable modem - bingo - IP comes very quickly every time.I have tried multiple cable modems and multiple wireless routers. I use MAC cloning otherwise Charter doesn't give an IP ever. I have tried using both Unicast and Multicast for getting the IP but, it seems like the routers request/respond to DHCP differently than a Windows PC (Vista and 7) does. If a computer and router use DHCP differently? It is weird because when there is a power outage things generally come back on without a hitch. Though if I unplug/plug the devices manually it takes me half an hour or more to get an IP most times.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an 887M router which will be configured with two linke - one ADSL, one 3G - both of which will have (obviously) a separately suppplied IP address from the different ISP's being used. The 3G is a backup - plain and simple - for use only when the DSL service flakes out (which it does often)
Routing is pretty simple - I'll either do soemthing with a bit of PBR, or a simple weighted static, but the NAT has me scratching my head a little.
Can I have two outbound NAT pools (ip nat outside) for each interface which will be used ONLY for traffic going out the interface concerned?
For example, I have one for the primary link
ip nat inside source list 2 interface Dialer1 overload
Can I do the same for the second dialer interface like this
ip nat inside source list 2 interface Dialer2 overload
and have them automatically switch to using the dialer 2 IP for the outbound NAT if the dialer 1 link fails?
I don't think I've ever come across this before, so I'm not sure if it can even be done.
