I have one Dynamic DSL line, this line plug to the Dlink router can work properly. But for some reason, we need to change to the cisco 877 router, when I conenct this line to the cisco router, it cannot work, the configuration seems incorrect. [code]
View 17 RepliesI've got an 887M router which will be configured with two linke - one ADSL, one 3G - both of which will have (obviously) a separately suppplied IP address from the different ISP's being used. The 3G is a backup - plain and simple - for use only when the DSL service flakes out (which it does often)
Routing is pretty simple - I'll either do soemthing with a bit of PBR, or a simple weighted static, but the NAT has me scratching my head a little.
Can I have two outbound NAT pools (ip nat outside) for each interface which will be used ONLY for traffic going out the interface concerned?
For example, I have one for the primary link
ip nat inside source list 2 interface Dialer1 overload
Can I do the same for the second dialer interface like this
ip nat inside source list 2 interface Dialer2 overload
and have them automatically switch to using the dialer 2 IP for the outbound NAT if the dialer 1 link fails?
I don't think I've ever come across this before, so I'm not sure if it can even be done.
I Have a D-Link 364M, and a dynamic IP. But I've had this IP for over 2 years now and it does not changeCalled the ISP, they said it's a router issue and I need to contact D-LInk. D-Link says they do not cover my router anymore so I can't get support. Unplugging the router for 24 hours did nothing So I assume the problem is some internal setting on the router website that is doing this.

All was well until they added one of those "walled gardens" like Comcast uses.When the cable modem comes on, and the wireless router is turned on, the router has trouble getting it's dynamic IP from the network. If I plug my workstation directly into the cable modem - bingo - IP comes very quickly every time.I have tried multiple cable modems and multiple wireless routers. I use MAC cloning otherwise Charter doesn't give an IP ever. I have tried using both Unicast and Multicast for getting the IP but, it seems like the routers request/respond to DHCP differently than a Windows PC (Vista and 7) does. If a computer and router use DHCP differently? It is weird because when there is a power outage things generally come back on without a hitch. Though if I unplug/plug the devices manually it takes me half an hour or more to get an IP most times.

I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

I do not know the concept of how to set this up. I'm currently using dynamic NAT for the web and this seems OK but I dont know how to map my fixed servers. I assume this is done with static NAT. Do I need to add sub interfaces on the S0/0 T1 interface for each of these fixed IPs? Then do I somehow do static NAT on these fixed IPs to their respective servers?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've got a new 891 to replace an old 837 and I'm struggling to get the dynamic nat pool working.I've successfully configured the dialer etc for PPPoE and when I set up a static NAT translation between my PC and an external address then I can ping hosts on the internet e.g. ping 8.8.8.8 successfully. But when I remove the static translation and try and use the dynamic NAT pool then no NAT translations take place, and show ip nat translations only shows the other static entries.The relevant bits of the config are below and I've also attached a full (cleaned) config.
