View 5 RepliesI'm trying to set my PC to have a Static IP but I'm having no luck. I've got it working before and was able to forward ports, but that was with my old PC.My problem is when I go into my wireless properties and change the TCP/IP settings from find automatically to custom settings, it says I need to reboot my PC. I do that but no matter what I do the settings are back to default, automatic settings when I reboot.The only difference between this new PC and the old one is that this one is using an SSD for my OS and a normal HDD for my Data.

I've searched google and various posts regarding that issue.It's seems like it's possible to do a dynamic-ip to dynamic-ip ipsec tunnel, but I found zero manuals and configuration.I've added the template that I'm using to configure the tunnel with ip addresses.
connecting a VPN with a dynamic IP address (its a Draytek 2700)We have a customer who has a PIX515E on the central site .Than there are more 2 sites where he installed 2 Draytek 2700 ,and contracted 2 fixes IP addresses for them.These are working fine and always did.In another site they are doing building renewals ,só they will not have ADSL for about 2 month,and they connected a 3G Internet access wich is connected to a Draytek 2710 ,internet wich is working fine,but doesnt have a fixed ip address.
I had search a lot in Cisco support pages,but i can´t find this solution,cause the examples are only to 1 dynamic peer ,not mixed(multiple fixed ip addresses + 1 or more dynamic)The PIX also needs to receive VPN connections from remote users who connect via Cisco VPN client(is working fine too) [code] I know now that when a communication starts from that dynamic peer to the PIX ,PIX doesnt know in wich group he should assign it.So the communication stops.i tried to create a group-policy...but i dont know how to associate it with the tunnel group.I also know that we can just associate 1 crypto map to each interface.
I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI think I'm missing a basic step here. In setting up a RV220W device behind either a cable modem or a DSL modem, the address that is being returned is not the public IP address of the modem, but rather the private IP address assigned by the modem to the RV220W. Doesn't matter for normal web access but trying to set up a VPN tunnel fails due to the inaccurate IP address.
If I do the same thing but use the dyndns.com application on a computer behind all of this (connected on the private LAN of the RV220W via cable), it reports the external IP address correctly. That works in some locations if I have an always on computer to load the application to. In some cases, however, there isn't such a computer to leave dedicated to running the separate program.
Since this works, and the RV220W doesn't, there is some difference between the Cisco implementation and the dyndns.com implementation.
So, is there a way to get the RV220W to return the true external IP address, or is it stuck returning a private address?
I am working with MS Windows 2008 R2 and a Belkin F5D8635-4v1 router.
I have already set up a dynamic IP address which points to my router at home. In my home network I have multiple PC's that I would like to access from the internet. I would like to achieve this without needing to change my port forwarding rules on my router each time...
My thoughts are that I use a single dynamic IP address pointed to my router. My router then forwards to a server with some sort of software that can then forward to the correct PC based on the host name.
So I have 3 domains set up all pointing to the router's IP address:
dest1.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest2.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
dest3.domain.com -> 41.xxx.xxx.45
The router is not smart enough to redirect by host name, so it will just forward everything to 10.0.0.20 The server based at 10.0.0.20 must then have software to now redetermine the target based on the host name. The rules would be set up as follows:
dest1.domain.com -> 10.0.0.22
dest2.domain.com -> 10.0.0.24
dest3.domain.com -> 10.0.0.26
I have a WRT300n router and want to connect to my Uverse Gateway. When I connect them & try to use the internet connection I get an error that says a connected router must be capable of using DYnamic IP addresses.

The tech guy said I need a HUB...but I'm not sure what kind and where to get one etc. Secondly, even if I am able to get this second IP going, will they be entirely separate IP addresses? I need the IP addresses to be completely separate and untraceable to the same source. Is this the case or can you somehow trace back the two dynamic IP's to the same source IP? Will I need two different static IP's if I want the two connections to be entirely separate, unrelated, and untraceable from each other?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Charter and have been at this location for several year. All was well until they added one of those "walled gardens" like Comcast uses.When the cable modem comes on, and the wireless router is turned on, the router has trouble getting it's dynamic IP from the network. If I plug my workstation directly into the cable modem - bingo - IP comes very quickly every time.I have tried multiple cable modems and multiple wireless routers. I use MAC cloning otherwise Charter doesn't give an IP ever. I have tried using both Unicast and Multicast for getting the IP but, it seems like the routers request/respond to DHCP differently than a Windows PC (Vista and 7) does. If a computer and router use DHCP differently? It is weird because when there is a power outage things generally come back on without a hitch. Though if I unplug/plug the devices manually it takes me half an hour or more to get an IP most times.

I found a ton of them on the internet but I'm not sure which ones are safe.I'm trying to use my home NAS as an ftp server that can be accessed remotely.
I've got a new 891 to replace an old 837 and I'm struggling to get the dynamic nat pool working.I've successfully configured the dialer etc for PPPoE and when I set up a static NAT translation between my PC and an external address then I can ping hosts on the internet e.g. ping 8.8.8.8 successfully. But when I remove the static translation and try and use the dynamic NAT pool then no NAT translations take place, and show ip nat translations only shows the other static entries.The relevant bits of the config are below and I've also attached a full (cleaned) config.
ip nat pool TestPool 81.2.123.226 81.2.123.226 netmask 255.255.255.248
ip nat inside source list 15 pool TestPool overload
! Can only access internet when static route is defined for my PC
! If I remove this line then it doesn't use the dymnamic pool TestPool
ip nat inside source static 172.16.0.11 81.2.123.226
