View 1 RepliesI have a 192.168.1.xxx network connected to Verizon FIOS via Actiontec MOCA / router. I also have a 192.168.15.xxx network connected to Comcast via Motorola VT2442 router (used for Vonage) and a Motorola SB6121 cable modem.
Each network has it's own gigabit switch connected to each router. The two networks are physically separated but switches and routers are physically side by side.
What is the best configuration to allow devices on 192.168.1.xxx network to communicate with devices on the 192.168.15.xxx network (share printers, NAS, etc), but still have each network served by it's respective ISP, and each device still get it's dhcp, dns, gateway, etc from each respective router?
When I plug my desktop into my wireless router I have slow internet but when I plug directly into the modem I have no connection at all. It says "cannot connect to primary DNS server". I'm using a Motorola SURBOARD SB6121 and a NETGEAR WPN824V2 Wireless Router. When I do ipconig /all this is what I get:

View 14 Replies View RelatedRecently changed modems because of ongoing issues with Mediacom's loaner. I now have a Motorolla SB6121 and use an Airport Extreme router. I've used the Dell in the passed with the apple router, and several different modems and all was fine... but for some reason this hookup is not working for my Dell Studio. It sees the network, but will not connect to it. I did nothing different other than plug everything in. No other computer has an issue with this connection - only the Dell.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.
I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response;
then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.
The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house.That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."
Swapping cable modem SB5101 that has been working for years for newer one SB6121. F5D8235-4 v2000 router has been working with SB5101 for years. When I connect using same cable/etc. Router cannot get DNS/IP from ISP (Comcast). Cable modem works directly connected to my laptop. Switched back to SB5101 and works again flawlessly. FW on router is 2.01.07. Had comcast tech support as well as comcast tech onsite- no resolution. I did activate new modem thru ISP (even with them here doing it).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 computer with Comcast HSI. It's a very fast computer, but the modem was really outdated. So was the router. So, we got a brand new Cisco N+ Router and a Motorola SURFboard SB6121 modem with DOCSIS 3.0 and IPv6. However, when plugged in, the new modem will not consistenly connect to the internet. We called Comcast and they tried to send an activation code to the modem with it connected to the computer directly, but it was intermittently going online, then offline, then back online, then offline. We exchanged the modem for an identical one, but it's doing the same thing, so the modem can't be at fault here. Comcast tried to tell us that something was wrong with our coaxial cable, but our old modem - a Motorola SURFboard 4100 running DOCSIS 1.1 - was working just fine with the same cable. Another technological "improvement" has failed me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have this motorola router, SURFBOARD SVG1202 and I can't connect to my university VPN. It says my router is blocking the communication. After some days trying to understand why, I saw that it was needed to enable some options at 192.168.0.1. So, I went there and enabled IPsec PassThrough and PPTP PassThrough under the router options and also added my MAC Addr. Then I restarted the router, However when I try to connect into it again (via DHCP, auto IP), it says "null/limited connection" ( I cant even try a vpn connection, Since it is null/limited, I have to choose static ip mode, inserting a IP/gateway/my service DNS under network options, then I can connect to internet again (see image), but router is still blocking the VPN access, hanging at "verifying account. And password." later gives error 619 related to router blocking

Its a modem that has a router and wifi built in but its really bad and not nearly as good as my net-gear router.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a WiFi setup where the wifi signal can go to 2 houses on my long-range property. One wifi router (Motorola WR850G w/ newest firmware update) is up on a pole between 2 of the houses. I could access it fine via wifi on my PC ever since i set it up a while back, but I was messing with it one day last week (nothing major changed), and all of a sudden now I cannot access the router setup page no matter what! (IP=192.168.10.1 by default).... it just simply times out now and gives me the 30 seconds loop to a page not displayed error in my browser.
I really would like to reset it via wifi, since its up powered on the pole outside, it'd be difficult to get up there and reset it myself. Is there a way I can get access to the page again in any way, by only using wifi from my PC????
The WiFi works great either way, and pinging to the router is 1ms so I just don't get it! Things I've done:
1. Pinged router, pings fine from any PC via WiFi...
2. Changed PC from DHCP, to 192.168.10.8 to get a non-used IP, since maybe it was timing out to the 192.168.10.7 IP I was using via DHCP. No go, it still times out no matter which PC or IP I have!
I recently borrowed a friend's desktop and I am having issues with connecting with the router through an ethernet cable. I go to troubleshoot the problem and I get "Local Area Connection 2 doesn't have a valid IP configuration". Its nothing with the router because when I plug my laptop in with the same ethernet cable, I am able to connect perfectly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Motorola NVG510 (from AT&T, they changed our internet plan and sent a new router) and since then I've had problems with Skype. I think I've narrowed the problem down to there being no upnp on this router to enable, and Skype doesn't like that.So, is there any way I can make this option available, or some other way to 'simulate' upnp so Skype will play nice? I read somewhere else that "IP Passthrough" may be an option, but I'm unsure about that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola SBG901 router. Typing ipconfig showed that 172.18.8.1 is the Default Gateway and this is the URL I always used to access the router login page.
I reset the router today by holding the reset button. Now typing the URL 172.18.8.1 does not work. The router user guide says to go to 192.168.0.1. I have tried this but it also does not work. For both I just get the "problem loading page" in Firefox.
The Internet works fine both with an ethernet connection and wirelessly. My only issue is that I cannot access the Motorola router login page. I could access it fine this morning before I reset the router.
Hardware: Modem-Motorola SBV5222 Router-Linksys E2000(Cisco brand name? I didn't buy the router) I use a PC with windows xp with sp 2 and 3 installed.Problem: I can use the internet just fine when I am connected to the router, my pc is connected directly to the router via cat 5 but when I directly connect to the modem I get limited to no connectivity. I'm not using a proxy server and before the router was set up(I live with roommates who set up the wireless network.) I could connect to the modem just fine. I can't repair the connection since it seems to be unable to renew the ip address. I've also tried to manually configure my ip address though I'm sure it wasn't the issue.I've racked my brain to think of a simple solution and it doesn't seem one is apparent and I'm almost sure it's something to do with xp and I'm not so great with software.

2) ISP is Optimum Online
3) Using Automatic DHCP setting on router
4) Using MAC cloning on router
5) I can access the router's admin screen from the PC
6) I can connect to the router wirelessly, but no internet access
7) I've tried powering down everything multiple times, still no internet access
8) I upgraded the router firmware to 4.30.14
9) The "link" light on the cable modem never lights up when connected to the router

I want to get their new kindle to work and can not seem to figure it out. Their operating system is Vista which I can upgrade to Windows 7 if that would make it easier. When I click on setup the WiFi part of the installation wizard cd that came with the Motorola it says there is not a network adapter. I know what that is however I do not know why I would need it when the desktop is hooked directly into modem/router and I just need the WiFi for Kindle.

You see, I am working with AT&T and their dsl modem access page only works for me if the modem is unbridged. If I bridge the modem, I cannot get on the page again to unbridge it while I am trying to hook up my router. When I need them to unbridge the modem, I have to stay on hold for hours. One guy even told me that he did unbridge the modem, but since my internet persisted not to work, he told me my ethernet card went bad of a sudden on my computer. I knew this was incorrect so after a few more hours on hold, I had a lady debate with me that she was not unbridging my modem since it was my ethernet card that was bad and not the bridging. Finally, laughing to herself, she unbridged the modem for me and it worked

Some other ones connect via the linkseys wireless router. All computers are able to connect to the Internet. The problem I have is that I will be setting up a home computer as a file server connected to the Motorola router. The network acts as though it is two meaning that computers on one router can't see computers on the other router. What steps should I take in order to make all computers accessible through both routers.When I type 192.168.1.1 from a computer on the Motorola router, I get nothing, when I type in my actual ip address, I get the Motorola router. When I type in 192.168.1.1 from a linkseys connected computer, I get access to the linkseys router.

Currently a Linksys BEFSR81 router is connected and works fine. With the E2500, running Cisco Connect it gets to 90% complete and then times out. I'm guessing at that point it is trying to connect to the Internet.Support had me download the latest Cisco Connect, but it had the same problem. I have tried various things manually configuring the router with no success.

The software that came with the router has created two networks but is unable to connect to the internet. I have tried on both my PC and MacBook Pro and niether work. I have the modem connected directly to my Mac and can get to the internet, so I know the modem is working correctly.
