View 1 RepliesI can't connect my router (WRT54GL) to my new cable modem (Motorola Surfboard SB6120).
Some info:
1) Cable modem works perfectly when connected directly to computer ethernet port
2) ISP is Optimum Online
3) Using Automatic DHCP setting on router
4) Using MAC cloning on router
5) I can access the router's admin screen from the PC
6) I can connect to the router wirelessly, but no internet access
7) I've tried powering down everything multiple times, still no internet access
8) I upgraded the router firmware to 4.30.14
9) The "link" light on the cable modem never lights up when connected to the router
My motorola Cliq connected to a friend's netgear router and to the free airport wifi but not to my Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router Wifi. Actually, it doesnt even see its wireless network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just picked up the E3200 and love it. This morning I hooked up my printer via the USB. Everything went smooth until I tried to print something. I thought nothing was happening, but I let it sit for a while. While I was waiting, I was messing around with my network setting in windows. I realized that my network had been set to 'work' for some reason, so I changed it to 'home'. As soon as I did, my printer spit out my test page. (probably 5 min after sending the doc.) I don't know if it was just coincidence or what, so I sent another page and nothing happened (yet).
Is this common to take that long? Is there a way to speed this up?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a Linksys E2500 router with a Motorola RG2200C Residential Gateway. The Motorola box provides TV and DSL output. Currently a Linksys BEFSR81 router is connected and works fine. With the E2500, running Cisco Connect it gets to 90% complete and then times out. I'm guessing at that point it is trying to connect to the Internet.Support had me download the latest Cisco Connect, but it had the same problem. I have tried various things manually configuring the router with no success.

The software that came with the router has created two networks but is unable to connect to the internet. I have tried on both my PC and MacBook Pro and niether work. I have the modem connected directly to my Mac and can get to the internet, so I know the modem is working correctly.

The printer does not have ethernet or wireless. I will be upgrading the printer later but would like for it to work with all my computers at the moment.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just noticed on my Cable modem the link light is blinking orange, per Motorola if its blinking orange - Computer is connected via a 10 mbps or 100 mbps Ethernet port.
On the Linksys E4200 status page it says
Internet Port Speed:
Internet 10/100 mbps
Local Port Speed Port 1 - 1Gbps
Maybe I just noticed this with this router, but I'm pretty sure this didn't start happening until I updated to 1.0.03.
Previously the link light was blue indicating a 1Gbps connection.
I recently switched from dsl to cable. I have a e2000 router that I would still like to use. The modem I have is a Motorola Surfboard SB6121. It has no options that I can modify. The modem has a built in DHCP server. However, I can't modify it and I don't like the ip configuration it uses. For the time being I have the modem connected to a switch which is working fine. What I would like to know is how to configure the e2000 to use the modems connection. I used PPPoE for DSL and had login information.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can get regarding using the Collobos Fingerprint software through my WRT150N router. I'm using Windows XP SP3 and immediatly after installing (which went extreamy well) it immediatly found and listed all of my home network printers. All of the wired and wireless windows based systems in my house can see and print to the printers without any problem. However, getting ANY of my apple devices (iPad, iPhone etc ) to print will not even show them as listed on the device when I select print on the devices. Collobos says that I have to make sure that Ports UDP 5353 doe Bonjour and TCP 6361 for FingerPrint need to be open both ways for it to work, I have no problem getting into the router settings and have set them up as stated above in Port Range Triggering and enabled. Also made sure Filter Multicast was not check marked in Security. Unfortunatly, that doesn't seem to work as I had hoped.

Since router always lease different range of ip (192.168.1.1) then all computers connected through router cannot print because they are in different network/ip range.is there a way allow wireless user to print to the same printer regardless of the ip difference?

Been on the phone with Canon and they seem sure its the router. Linksys guy saying it was file sharing turned off. It was not..... I can print when I'm hooked in with an ethernet cable but not when I am on wireless laptop. Any setting I need to check in the E3000?

But I never heard of a router not supporting file & printer sharing. My WRT54G handled it just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently my setup works fine except that I need another ethernet port.I have a E4200V2 with a HP laserjet 4000N printer connected via JetDirect ethernet and I am able to print with any of my devices. However, because I have need of another ethernet port, I am wondering if anybody has tried using a parallel to usb cable? The parallel side of the cable being connect to the printer and the usb side to the router.
Or if I really want that port made available, will I have to get some type of external print server?
I know that HP makes a JetDirect Card with a USB port, however, I don't want to spend the $80 on ebay to get a used one if a $10 new cable will work.
I have one of the above units which has worked fine since i first set it up over a year ago.Yesterday I tried to add an Epson sx425 WI-FI printer, I followed the instrucions and it connected ok however it started to drop the link intermitently and kept failing to print (which was also crap from my machine and total jibberish from any other!) then it lost it all together and all the other wireless devices lost their connection .The router reported it was ok with good signal strength but nothing connected so I switched it off for half an hour and rebooted but it was still the same so I tried to change the pass word but still nothing will connect. I have tried to reset the router also but this had no effect. the units plugged in via wire are working ok it is just something to do with the wirless signal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HP laser printer (network printer) plugged into one of the ethernet ports of the E4200. I am able to print and communicate with the printer (via the built-in web interface) for the first few hours after the printer is powered on. After a day or so, however, (when the printer has gone into sleep/power-save mode) I can no longer print or attach to it - it is seen as being offline. The only way around this is to power the printer off and on again.I never had this problem with the E3000 or the (non-Cisco) router before that. I do not see any settings that would cause this to happen.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHardware: Modem-Motorola SBV5222 Router-Linksys E2000(Cisco brand name? I didn't buy the router) I use a PC with windows xp with sp 2 and 3 installed.Problem: I can use the internet just fine when I am connected to the router, my pc is connected directly to the router via cat 5 but when I directly connect to the modem I get limited to no connectivity. I'm not using a proxy server and before the router was set up(I live with roommates who set up the wireless network.) I could connect to the modem just fine. I can't repair the connection since it seems to be unable to renew the ip address. I've also tried to manually configure my ip address though I'm sure it wasn't the issue.I've racked my brain to think of a simple solution and it doesn't seem one is apparent and I'm almost sure it's something to do with xp and I'm not so great with software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not that great at networking, I'm pretty much a novice but I'm trying to connect a modem and router to my computer but get around bridging the modem if possible. You see, I am working with AT&T and their dsl modem access page only works for me if the modem is unbridged. If I bridge the modem, I cannot get on the page again to unbridge it while I am trying to hook up my router. When I need them to unbridge the modem, I have to stay on hold for hours. One guy even told me that he did unbridge the modem, but since my internet persisted not to work, he told me my ethernet card went bad of a sudden on my computer. I knew this was incorrect so after a few more hours on hold, I had a lady debate with me that she was not unbridging my modem since it was my ethernet card that was bad and not the bridging. Finally, laughing to herself, she unbridged the modem for me and it worked
Here is what I have: My modem is a Motorola 2210 Style: MSTATEA My router is a Linksys WRT120N
As of right now, I just have a LAN with my modem plugged in through an ethernet cord to my PC. Is there a way of me hooking up my Linksys router to my modem and PC without bridging the modem? If so, where can I find out instructions for this?
I have a home network that consists of two routers. First I have my cable modem that is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. I tend to use that as the 'n' network for my computers so any devices using n networking connect to that.I then have a cable that goes from my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station to a Linksys E3000 router. I tend to use that as my g router and connect many devices that only have g wi-fi to it.Here is the problem:Because of a couple children that have iPod Touches and Macbooks I like to have them connect to the E3000 since it has great website blocking. I wish the Apple Base Station had website blocking but as far as I see it doesn't. Also, this website blocking has worked great since I installed the router but here is the problem. They frequently have to print items and they're unable to print since it won't find the printer.
The printer that I have is connected by Ethernet cable to the Apple Base Station It appears I have two ways of connecting the E3000 router to my Base Station. The way I currently have it connected is the E3000 is connected to the Apple router through the Internet port on the back. By doing this I get full internet and website blocking but I am unable to print through it. Yet if I connect it to the Apple router through one of it's numbered (1-4) ports, I still get internet, I'm able to print, but yet the website blocking does not work.Since the Apple base station doesn't have website blocking as far as I know the only way I can think of getting around this is to replace my Apple Base Station with another E3000 but I don't want to do this unless I have to.
So I've had this problem before and normally I solve it by simply unplugging everything from my modem and router but ive tried that this time several times to no avail. The internet suddenly cut out one day and when I did my usual unplugging thing it came back unbearably slow.Right now I'm running off a motorola SB5100 Surboard modem and a linksys WRT54G2 router and its not my computer, everyone in the house is getting terrible speed.
