Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G - Cannot Print Network Settings (HP OfficeJet J3680)
Aug 29, 2011
I suddenly am unable to print the settings on the My Network Settings. When I click on the print sign nothing happens - it does not register on my printer. I used to be able to do this. My router is WRT54G and my printer is HP Officejet J3680 All- in-One.

I have 4 different OfficeJet Pro 8600's installed in 4 different locations, bought from different vendors. In every case I get the same problem. This is a Networking issue. All printers are wired to the network. The printer is not the cause of the problem. The problem persists even if the printer is off.The problem is that: When computer is left on overnight, the next morning, webpages can not be accessed, and the network communication with the printer is gone. You can not print and you can not browse.

I'm just trying to port forward with this router, and after I'm done entering all my settings, I click save settings, it tells me settings are successful.
But the it goes back to the port forwarding page and all the stuff is at default again as if I didn't make any changes. What the hell is this?
I'm sure it's just a little something I don't know about that's making it not save any changes to port forwarding.

I have a WRT54G router and for some reason I'm unable to receive the media stream at my home, but when I connected to my friends N-type router it works fine. I have no other connectivity issues. The only thing that I remember doing that may have caused this was to upgrade my firmware because my droid phone wouldn't connect.

I have been using the Wireless G broadband router WRT54GL for about a year now. Recently we bought HP laserjet network printer which is connected to the domain network with the ip range of 10.1.1.1 which is the same network linksys router is connected to. Since router always lease different range of ip (192.168.1.1) then all computers connected through router cannot print because they are in different network/ip range.is there a way allow wireless user to print to the same printer regardless of the ip difference?

I have two computers. My host computer runs Windows 7 64-Bit. Last December I upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate, which may have changed my configurations though a month before I had to do a complete reinstall of the Home Premium before I acquired the upgrade. My remote computer is XP-Pro. The HP connection is wireless. There is no problem printing; but to use some features the HP on its control panel requires me to enter a proxy address. How can I configure my router settings to fully use the HP web services? At this point, the HP doesn't even update. I cannot access things like apps, ePrint and other web printing functions because of this sudden need for a proxy connection. It doesn't even show the email address for the device.

I have a Linksys E2000 router & a HP Officejet 6500A PLUS all-in-one printer. While printing, at a certain moment, the printer stops printing, rolls the sheet out & act like nothing happened. But, when i use an adhoc connection, the printer works just fine. So i think there has to be something wrong on transport (router?)

I am interested to know if there is anywhere (even in the code) where i can play with the guest network settings?
*. ability to change the default webpage login for guest network
*. Ability to set a lease time for guest network
*. Ability to use special characters in the password (@!$%)
is it even possible or an open source firmware is the way to go?

I recently had trouble connection to my Linksys WRT54G router. However, in this process I had to create a couple of new profiles/networks/SSID or whatever they are called. I now have one functioning network, but my router is still broadcasting the other two networks. How can I get my router to only broadcast the one network, I am currently using? I erased them from Vista, so that my own computer does not automatically log on to the, but that is clearly not enough. Since one of the networks is not secured with a password (dont ask why), my concern is that my neighbours can access it. BTW, I am using Windows Vista on a Toshiba Satelite A200.

I have the following equipment
E2500 wireless N router (2 of these)
WRT54g router (B/G)
WAP54g access point (B/G)
I am planning to set up a wi-fi network for a single story motel. It is C-shaped; about 300 feet along the longest side with "legs" of 120 and 70 feet. I have included a diagram that I drew for the person that will install it. Until now I have only used that single WRT54g in the office for the entire property and it covers about half the property (left side) but not well and with a dead spot in the top left because of too many walls to go through.
My plan starts in the office (bottom left) with a WRT54g connected to the DSL modem as it always was. That would be connected to one of the E2500s in the middle so it can cover the most area. From there two others would shoot out to each corner (the other E2500 and the WAP54g). They will all be wired together with Cat 5e "riser cable". The routers will be placed in a wide open attic.
1. Is this is a good plan for the size of property? I have heard that N routers have a range of 150ft in every direction so that's why I'm putting one in the middle. Keep in mind that while the attic is open and wood constructed, the walls between rooms are concrete firewall and they haven't been wi-fi friendly. Hopefully putting them in the attic takes care of this.
2. Does starting with a B/G router at the modem mean the N routers will revert to B/G?
3. What are the main settings I need to know about? What "mode" does each need to be set to? Do they need different default gateways?
Can I use the same password/security for all of them? Should I use the same SSID for all?

- DHCP active
- Wireless MAC filter is enabled with only approved MAC's
- Wireless SID Broadcast is disabled
The secondary Router WRT54GS V1 (Router B) will be located down stairs with no Ethernet cable between the two routers.
- Will need this secondary router to connect to the existing wireless network Router A wirelessly.
- Will need to have internet access.
- Will need to have the wired ports to have internet access as well. Needed to connect the Home A / V receiver to update A / V firmware.

Yesterday i was playing online on my Xbox 360, and was disconnected from the internet. I came downstairs to reset router/modem, once doing so i went into the router settings for my Linksys WRT54G. My modem by default uses the 192.168.1.1, so my router was 192.168.2.1... So i powercycle, log into router settings through 192.168.2.1 and start setting up my port forwarding for the xbox ports. Saved Settings, and the page would not load to say "Settings Saved". Closed the window and now my pc says no internet connection. I had to create a VPN broadband connection to even use the internet on my pc. I can no longer log into 192.168.2.1 for my router, nor can i access 192.168.1.1 to even get into my modem settings.. I'm using windows 7, and the automatic troubleshooting guide tells me to powercycle my modem. My xbox can still see my wireless network "linksys" but will not connect to it, even with the VPN connection i am still hooked though my router and modem.. Im afraid that my router just out of nowhere "died"..

I have E4200 with fixed ip 192.168.1.2, DHCP off connected through LAN ports to FIOS ActionTec as 192.168.1.1. When connecting through wireless network off the E4200, I can obtain and connect fine under Guest network and WEP security, but for any other security setting, WPA, WPA2, Mixed mode, etc. I get the message "Aquiring network address" forever, and I never get a connection.

I have been using this router fine for a year now. Now I can only get on the internet if I am directly plugged into the modem. It says I have limited connectivity. My ISP is Comcast. I have tried resetting the router with no luck. I have tried to update the drivers but I cannot even log into 192.168.1.1. I am in dire need of the wireless cpability. When I go to the run command and type ipconfig it tells me I have no default gateway.

So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

I have a wrt54g router and would like to separate the WLAN clients from accessing computers and servers on the LAN... in other words I would like to make it a "guest" network. I've put the router in "router" mode instead of "gateway". I just want to be sure if that is the best thing I can do in terms of turning the wireless network into an isolated one.

I have run three computers on my wireless network for a few years now, and have an HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless printer that has worked seamlessly on all computers. That is, until I secured my router. I had an open wireless connection that I changed to secure (WPA) a couple of weeks ago and have been unable to connect to my printer wirelessly to print. It will print if connected to USB. The first day I was able to enter in my WPA key just fine, but not since. It doesn't appear to be finding my connection. Oddly enough one of our computers (a laptop) is able to print to this printer so I am not sure. All computers are running Windows XP, I believe with SP3. I use a D-link wireless router. I have tried using the HP solutions to no avail and have checked in the documentation that came with the printer. As an aside, I now appear to also have another wireless connection which is a "computer-to-computer" connection, I believe an ad-hoc connection?

I have a WRT54G that has served us well for several years, but I needed a network connection in another part of the house, both wired for TV, and wireless for downstairs. So I ran an ethernet cable through the house and connected it to my new E1200. It's connected to Port 1, not the Internet port. The TV plugs into Port 2, and my Apple TV to port 3. So far so good, TV and Apple TV appear to work fine. Wireless is where I'm having problems, the wireless signals between the two routers appear on Wifi Analyzer I'm using. Both appear strong in signal for a second, then they disappear, then they appear again for a second, then they disappear. So the wifi's signals appear, then disappear and this cycle continues.
The WRT54G is setup with DHCP, channel 6.
IP Address: 192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: Enabled Start IP Address: 192.168.1.100 End IP Address: 192.168.1.149
The E1200 DHCP is disabled, channel 11, 20mhz.
Router IP Address: 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: Disabled Start IP Address: 192.168.1.1 (DHCP disabled) End IP Address: 192.168.1.50 (DHCP is disabled)
I've tried both routers named the same, and then tried 2 different names. I've rebooted them as well after making changes.

I've tried looking for solutions on the windows seven forums and all over Google but none of them worked. The problem is, sometimes I get an "Unidentified Network, No Internet Access" error on my laptop (wireless). When this happens, the lan speed drops to 1.0 mbps and I get the "No Data Received" error when I try to load pages. My internet is on fine and my brother can access the internet fine on a desktop which is wired to the router and modem. My mom's notebook sometimes gets this error as well.
Is there any real solution for this problem or known compatibility problems between my WRT54G (version 1.1 I think) and Windows 7? Really need a solution to this, before I had to re-setup my whole connection, I didn't get such a problem. My laptop doesn't get the error in the school network either.

Our wireless network has started to drop out periodically. If we pull power and restore, the network immediately comes back up on all our our devices. We have the WRT54G, and we have 2 PCs, 2 Macs, and 3 iPhones, and a wired home phone. Normally there are not this many devices connected, but with everyone home for Thanksgiving and all these devices on the network we have started to see this issue.
Are there simply more devices than the router can handle? Is one of the devices crashing the network for everyone? What typically will cause something like this?

I've been having a ton of problems with fixing my connection with my wireless network. A few months ago, I lost connection on my desktop computer and I reconnected... however, it didn't actually connect. When I hovered my cursor over the Wireless Network Connection icon, it just said "Acquiring Network Address" and never connected. I got onto my laptop and did a quick search on the problem. A few wrong moves later, and I couldn't even find my wireless network.
Despite all of my attempts at creating a connection, I still have no internet. I've even tried plugging my computer into my WRT54G router via cable, and still no connection. It's not the router that's the problem, though, as my two other computers and xbox have perfect internet connection.
I use Windows XP, I use a WRT54G router, I have Mediacom high speed internet, and that's about all I know.

I just picked up the E3200 and love it. This morning I hooked up my printer via the USB. Everything went smooth until I tried to print something. I thought nothing was happening, but I let it sit for a while. While I was waiting, I was messing around with my network setting in windows. I realized that my network had been set to 'work' for some reason, so I changed it to 'home'. As soon as I did, my printer spit out my test page. (probably 5 min after sending the doc.) I don't know if it was just coincidence or what, so I sent another page and nothing happened (yet).
Is this common to take that long? Is there a way to speed this up?
