View 2 Replies View RelatedI administer a network with about 20 users on an average day.They've been experiencing slow network performance, and some occasional dropouts which cause applications that rely on the network connection to crash.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, as MANY others have complained of, my router would frequently drop the wireless connection. I've read through the posts about change this, do these, upgrade that, all of which resulted in nothing. Everyone is looking to blame the firmware, but that's not it. It's the hardware. They assembled these units with bad capacitors. Anyways, the fix is simply to replace these capacitors with new ones yourself. THIS WILL VOID WARRANTY and you may permanently damage your equipment (if you're an idiot and leave it plugged in...), but it will take half an hour, a soldering iron and $5 of parts from radio shack (or online if you want better quality). It's really, really easy.
Some good info if you plan on going this route: {URL}

Just installed new W-8970 via centuryLink ADSL, connected two computers (hard wire) which work fine. I also have it connected by hard wire to my Direct T.V DVR Model HR 24 to run T.V app's such as Pandora music etc. It will only stay connected for 5-10 minutes then drops out, any suggestions other then buying a different brand modem/router.
A friend bought an Inspiron 15R 5520 earlier this week & is experiencing poor signal strength & frequent drop outs. I took my Inspiron 15R 5110 to her place, connected to her wireless network & had no problems at all ... good to excellent signal speed & no drop outs.

I get 5-10 second dropouts in waves pretty randomly. When it happens, I get a couple at a time, and normally have to stop playing out of frustration.I have a powerline adapter hooked up to my pc to the router. That router has an apple router attached by cat5e running a second wireless network somewhere else in the house.I've tried DMZing my pc, disconnecting the apple router, nothing seems to be fixing it.Here are 3 pathpings while my computer is in DMZ, so the router shouldnt be messing with my DHCP (right?). The first one shows it while i was disconnected twice in less than a minutethink this is on my end or my ISP?
I have ATT uverse and they gave me a router 3600HGV (2Wire). The router went into the communication box of the house from where it connects to various ethernet ports in various rooms of the house.
The connections work, but they are slow and sometimes do not even work. My guess is that there is IP conflict between the two routers. I am not even able to go to the 192.168.1.254 router config.
How can I get my router to stay at one ip so I can set it as the DMZ server?

A 2 Wire 2701HG-B DSL MODEM/Router Upstairs
Wired into 2 PCs upstairs
WiFi to a PC Downstairs.
I killed the DSL service and got U-verse, but that added a new Modem/WiFi downstairs. I still have the 2Wire upstairs, but it has no phone connection.Can I use the 2Wire to "Receive" and "distribute" the WiFi signal from downstairs?
I don't see how to turn off the DSL MODEM. If I put in the ID and Password for the WiFi router downstairs into the 2Wire upstairs, will it "Login" or will it conflict? Are there special settings for the PCs to access the U-Verse router through the 2Wire?Basically, I want to know if the upstairs 2Wire can receive the U-verse signal and convert it to wired signal for the 2 upstairs PCs.
I can connect without any problems on my desktop PC and my other laptop, but it's been nothing but trouble with this one. First I go and try to connect to the network: On the laptop that I have no problems with, this usually comes up: Instead, it goes straight to this, and it doesn't even let me try to type in the password: I'm very new to wireless networks, so I couldn't possibly know what's wrong. I've tried several things, but nothing has worked up to this point.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 2wire 2701hg-b wireless router/DSL modem. Every once in awhile, my wireless devices all lose their connection to the router at the same time. I believe the problem is internal to the router/modem as all my wireless devices' connections are dropped at the same time AND I can only get them connected once I disable and then re-enable the wireless on the router. The problem seems to only affect wireless devices as all my wired devices remain connected and my Internet connection remains intact as well.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI purchased a ZyXEL 3205 to serve as a universal repeater in my house, to boost the DSL wireless signal from upstairs to downstairs. I have a 2WIRE router, and my DSL is through AT&T. The wireless works just fine (and we've been connecting multiple devices through it for over a month), but the signal is weak downstairs, so this seemed like a good cheap solution.I found several good sets of instructions on setting up the 3205 as a repeater, so while complex, that was not really a problem.
However, the 3205's status is still marked as "disassociated", which means that it won't connect to the 2WIRE. It can see the signal, and I'm telling it to connect and giving it the correct key. It also broadcasts just fine, since my wireless devices can connect to the 3205 when it is turned on. However, the 3205 refuses to actually connect to the 2WIRE for some reason. Is there a known issue with connecting? I've checked all the obvious things - they're set to be on the same wireless channel, both using the same encryption settings, and there aren't any ip conflicts happening, since the 3205 is set to an unclaimed ip in the same space.
I have a dell desktop with win xp i need to activate but cant get online to do so. The dsl and internet lights are on and my nic light is on via the ethernet cable.I went into safe mode to do a ipconfig and i got a internal error request not supported message. I wanted to try configuring the network connection settings but when i clicked on that in control panel when i was in safe mode nothing came up.
