View 1 Replies View RelatedThe other day, I decided to set up a wifi router. Once I'd set it up, I connected my other devices to it, (laptop, iPad, iPod, etc.) but when I tried to connect my PS3 to it, the connection just timed out when it was testing the connection. I've tried it a few times - I thought maybe I'd typed in my WPA key wrong, to no avail.

AT&T Tech support worked with me to boost signal of 3600HGV but still weak signal. They did not know about repeater/bridge that would with (compatible) with the 3600HGV router.
I used to have the D-Link DIR-655 wireless router as my wireless home network set-up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchaseda trendnet 692 GR router because I understood that I would be able to stream from let's say my computer to my TV that is up the stairs. Here is the problem. I did get the router to use my existing 2Wire 2701HG modem.Yes I can connect my Samsung 6100 to the wireless 2Wire but I thought the trendnet setup would work the best.I and Trendnet support set up my router and media bridge and the two do work but my tv won't work through the MB. I have connected to the network but the next part of the connection (the internet) won't connect. I have tried different IP settings that I thought would connect but nothing so far has worked. Also I have taken a 50' ethernet cablefrom the trendnet router to the tv and I do get a connection.I have also taken a laptop through the media bridge and connected to the trendnet router. The customer service at trendnet can't take this to the next level(which is a$40 one session professional service)
View 19 Replies View RelatedI purchased a ZyXEL 3205 to serve as a universal repeater in my house, to boost the DSL wireless signal from upstairs to downstairs. I have a 2WIRE router, and my DSL is through AT&T. The wireless works just fine (and we've been connecting multiple devices through it for over a month), but the signal is weak downstairs, so this seemed like a good cheap solution.I found several good sets of instructions on setting up the 3205 as a repeater, so while complex, that was not really a problem.
However, the 3205's status is still marked as "disassociated", which means that it won't connect to the 2WIRE. It can see the signal, and I'm telling it to connect and giving it the correct key. It also broadcasts just fine, since my wireless devices can connect to the 3205 when it is turned on. However, the 3205 refuses to actually connect to the 2WIRE for some reason. Is there a known issue with connecting? I've checked all the obvious things - they're set to be on the same wireless channel, both using the same encryption settings, and there aren't any ip conflicts happening, since the 3205 is set to an unclaimed ip in the same space.
I am switching from Qwest to another ISP that has provided me with a modem that is not set up with an internal wireless router. I've been told that I can configure the 2wire 270hg-d to use it as a wireless router that can then be connected to the ISP modem. Need proper configuration settings on the 2wire..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have Comcast as my ISP.However there are only 4 wired ports on the router and I need an additional 2 ports for my needs. I have a 2wire 38000HGV-B Uverse Wireless gateway. I wanted to know if I could use one of the output ports from the Comcast wireless gateway and feed the 2wire Gateway to achieve the additional ports that I need. Also the wireless router from comcast is so difficult to setup that I don't even use the wireless. The 2wire gateway is much easier to setup and use and I could have wireless available where I don't have it right now.

In my absence sbc (AT&T) changed the pass word of the 2wire Modem. The 2wire has stoped communication with the Cisco Wireless N Routers. I connected am Ethernet wire to one of the ports of the 2wire, and connected it to the 2nd Cisco Wireless N Router. The signal gets to the 2nd Cisco Router. However, when I attempt to access the Internet on the CPU connected to the 2 Cisco Router, I get an error Message saying that there is a problem with the Modem and/or Router. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 2wire 2701HG-B wireless router/dsl modem combo. My computer is a Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. The router/modem has been reliable for the last 2 years.. hardly ever needing a reset, reboot, or anything. Then all of a sudden my wifi network didn't show up anymore. I did a reboot, nothing. Kind of weird so I got on the phone with AT&T and they walked me through some simple stuff and they determined it's either the router or my computer. Well I know it's not the computer, I can use the mobile hotspot on my android phone and it gets on just fine. All of the lights on the router are green, AT&T showed that all the tests show the internet connection is working. Since the router is not sending out a wifi signal anymore, I had to plug the ethernet cable in. The system recognizes a connection but says it isn't connected because it is a "public" connection. Additionally, if I go to network connections with the cable plugged in, I can see my DirecTV DVR is showing on the network (because it is connected to the router via ethernet too). So it isn't broadcasting wifi, I can see my DVR over the network in windows, but I can't get the IP renewed.
Here is the ipconfig /all print:

When I try to do an ipconfig /renew, it says this:Windows IP Configuration An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The operation was canceled by the user.An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified. The AT&T rep said I may need a new modem and router. It seems weird because it worked fine one night, then the next night all of a sudden it didn't work.
I just switched over from AT&T Uverse to time Warner cable for Internet. I bought a Motorola Surfboard sbg6580. I have the surfboard hooked up and all is well. Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.
View 3 Replies View Relatedthis might sound straight forward, but every other pc or console can find and connect to my router. This issue seems to happen about once every few months, sometimes it comes back by itself and reconnects completely fine.
There isn't a "user limit" on our router.Wireless adapter is dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n wlan mini-card.
Have restarted PC and uninstalled and reinstalled the card.I tried to set the i.p address to static but it says "adapter disconnected" so won't allow me to edit any settings, despite it being able to find neighbour's wireless very easily.
I have ATT uverse and they gave me a router 3600HGV (2Wire). The router went into the communication box of the house from where it connects to various ethernet ports in various rooms of the house.
The connections work, but they are slow and sometimes do not even work. My guess is that there is IP conflict between the two routers. I am not even able to go to the 192.168.1.254 router config.
Old Configuration:
A 2 Wire 2701HG-B DSL MODEM/Router Upstairs
Wired into 2 PCs upstairs
WiFi to a PC Downstairs.
I killed the DSL service and got U-verse, but that added a new Modem/WiFi downstairs. I still have the 2Wire upstairs, but it has no phone connection. Can I use the 2Wire to "Receive" and "distribute" the WiFi signal from downstairs?
I don't see how to turn off the DSL MODEM. If I put in the ID and Password for the WiFi router downstairs into the 2Wire upstairs, will it "Login" or will it conflict? Are there special settings for the PCs to access the U-Verse router through the 2Wire?Basically, I want to know if the upstairs 2Wire can receive the U-verse signal and convert it to wired signal for the 2 upstairs PCs.
I can connect without any problems on my desktop PC and my other laptop, but it's been nothing but trouble with this one. First I go and try to connect to the network: On the laptop that I have no problems with, this usually comes up: Instead, it goes straight to this, and it doesn't even let me try to type in the password: I'm very new to wireless networks, so I couldn't possibly know what's wrong. I've tried several things, but nothing has worked up to this point.
