Oct 30, 2011I currently have Comcast as my ISP.However there are only 4 wired ports on the router and I need an additional 2 ports for my needs. I have a 2wire 38000HGV-B Uverse Wireless gateway. I wanted to know if I could use one of the output ports from the Comcast wireless gateway and feed the 2wire Gateway to achieve the additional ports that I need. Also the wireless router from comcast is so difficult to setup that I don't even use the wireless. The 2wire gateway is much easier to setup and use and I could have wireless available where I don't have it right now.

Jun 20, 2011I just successfully setup my wireless Netgear router to work with my laptop and desktop. I now want to get my iPhone to connect to it as a WiFi connection. It sees the available network after I enable WiFi, but when it tries to connect, it just says "unable to connect" or something after I input the password.
My current password shows in the Netgear router (through 192.168.1.1) in the "passphrase" field under Wireless Settings, and it's cp6s-n3rb-ziav. This is what I put in the password field for my particular network in the iPhone before it tells me it can't connect.
There is an option on the left column in the router for "Set password," but it's just to change it to something else. If my iPhone won't accept the current one, I don't see why it would accept a new one, and then I'd have to go and change it in the laptop, too. Without knowing if that's the issue, I'm holding off on that for right now.

Jul 22, 2012I've got a Gateway 2wire 3800 HGV-B router which works fine wirelessly, but when using an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, it doesn't even recognize the computer. My laptop runs wirelessly all the time, and I recently picked up a desktop PC for home here, and it's the first wired connection I'm using, but for some reason the wired connection isn't connecting to my network, but instead it's own Unidentified Network.

Oct 2, 2012I have at&t DSL.I NEEDED to upgrade my wireless gateway from the 2wire wireless-G gate way that I had.I also have a Netgear WNDR-4000 750N Wireless Dual Band Router.
I know I needed an at&t modem to run my DSL, so I purchased (before reading reviews) a Netgear 7550 Wireless Gateway from at&t (they did not have any "N" single user modems (if there is such a thing).I have read through other posts that it is possible to connect the two and I would not need the 7550 for anything else but a modem (disabling broadcast).
The question is ... do I REALY need to do all this or can I just get away with the 7550?Or will the Netgear WNDR-4000 750N Wireless Dual Band Router, if installed and used, fix some of the issues that other 7550 users have said in other posts?
Wireless ... I have 3 gaming systems, two PC's, a tablet and 4 smartphones.I will be using 3 wired ports ... 1 gaming system, PC, and a blue-ray.
And yes, my 2wire wireless-g gateway ran all these ... not efficiently or reliably, but they all did run.
I have not received the Netgear 7550 yet, just trying to get some opinions on which setup would be better.

Aug 11, 2011I purchased a ZyXEL 3205 to serve as a universal repeater in my house, to boost the DSL wireless signal from upstairs to downstairs. I have a 2WIRE router, and my DSL is through AT&T. The wireless works just fine (and we've been connecting multiple devices through it for over a month), but the signal is weak downstairs, so this seemed like a good cheap solution.I found several good sets of instructions on setting up the 3205 as a repeater, so while complex, that was not really a problem.
However, the 3205's status is still marked as "disassociated", which means that it won't connect to the 2WIRE. It can see the signal, and I'm telling it to connect and giving it the correct key. It also broadcasts just fine, since my wireless devices can connect to the 3205 when it is turned on. However, the 3205 refuses to actually connect to the 2WIRE for some reason. Is there a known issue with connecting? I've checked all the obvious things - they're set to be on the same wireless channel, both using the same encryption settings, and there aren't any ip conflicts happening, since the 3205 is set to an unclaimed ip in the same space.

Dec 1, 2012I am having problems with connectivity and my iPhone 5. The Wi-Fi is okay in some parts of my home network, however in others it is abysmmal. When I bring my computer to the places where the iPhone has problems with signal strength/staying connected the computers have full or almost full strength and no problems. I upgraded firmware for the router, spoke with applecare, have reset the router multiple times, and have been trying different channels. I had the phone in with the Apple store where they concluded nothing seems wrong with the hardware. The phone doesn't seem to have problems like this on other wifi networks I have tried. Using a speed test on the iPhone at home in the low connectivity areas results in horrendously poor latency numbers.
