View 5 RepliesI have Linksys configured with IP 192.168.0.x and my local network ip 192.168.1.x have firewall connected to Adtrans box that gives us internet access via T1 line and other port is connected to the switch. Wireless router is connected to the switch using internet port.I can connect to wireless using iphone but emails don't work when connected to wireless. I tried to connect laptop to wireless is does not connect.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've bought a E4200 router because of it's "maximum performance". With the normal settings i have a wireless range of maximum 10 m in the building. after 5m I've got a low signal.I tested a cheap Netgear-router, which had the same range as the E4200 a 125 Euro.Is my E4200 broke or is it just a bad buy? The settings are standard (that shouldn't be the problem, I guess!?)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several E4200 routers deployed in our library district. In one branch, we have been having sporadic problems with computers not being able to maintain a connection. Typically the computer will connect and then the connection will drop and Windows will display the yellow error triangle on the wifi signal strength display.I have swapped the router with another brand new E4200 with the latest firmware but am still having this problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an E4200, but I am experiencing slow/inconsistent performance and connection problems with iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4. The iPhones are running the latest firmware 4.3. The E4200 has also been updated to the latest firmware 1.0.01 build 10. I do not experience these problems with various laptops, and I did not experience them with a previous Cisco router WRT610N, nor with a D-link DIR825 in another location. The security is set to WPA2 Personal and all the other settings are the same from the prior router. If I disable the security, I do not experience the connection problems, but still experience the slow performance. If I switch back to the WRT610N, I do not experience any problems. this a E4200 firmware issue yet to be resolved?

Both the iPod and iPhone were on the network and working and now neither is on and don't detect the network at all. Have turned off and on both devices as well as the router to no avail. My mini Mac is up and running and has been all day.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got the E4200 and it seemed great at first. Connected at 450mbps at close range (maybe 6ft away) and got 223mbps transfer. It seems that recently my signal is much weaker. I'm around 6-8ft away from the router and I'm getting between 270-360mbps, which to me is poor given the short range.
InSSIDer says the RSSI is -50, while my other wireless N router (dual band) is -35 and is in the exact same location. I'm using the 5ghz radio only, and it is set to N, and I'm using channels 44 and 48. I checked the hidden advanced wireless page and transmit power is already set to high.
My laptop has an Intel 6300 wireless card.I'm using the current firmware 1.0.02. I've noticed that the speed of the router randomly seems to drop off too (just as I type this, the link rate has gone back up to 450mbps... typical). Is the router throttling when it gets hot or something? So I just want to find out if others are experiencing similar rates at the same kind of distance. Seriously, how can you advertise something as 450mbps when you can't even get that link rate at a distance as short as 6ft?
I can't see any thing I can do to increase the link speed (back down to 270mbps now), short of a firmware update to increase the power and use higher channels. I hear the higher channels are much better, so who do I have to write to, to plead for new firmware? This is a great product, but it's totally ruined by stupid internal antennas and a weak transmit power. Maybe if we make a noise about the not so maximum performance, they might address it.
How far should the signal of the E4200 stretch? I am noticing some serious issues with signal strength on the far side of my house. I was under the impression that the E4200 was able to stretch much further distances than most N routers. Is there a setting i can adjust to increase the range?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect new iPhone 4S, it goes to the page for all the info (IP address, etc.) instead of just asking for the password input. I've tried disconnecting router and restarting, plugging iPhone into iMac laptop, etc. (PC is hardwired into server and PC laptop, iMac laptop and former iPhone 3 all connected to wifi w/o difficulty.) Went to site of purchase (12/2011) of Lynksys E2500. They suggested might need to download a driver.how to locate and install updates to driver for E2500 to allow connection to iPhone 4S?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with connectivity and my iPhone 5. The Wi-Fi is okay in some parts of my home network, however in others it is abysmmal. When I bring my computer to the places where the iPhone has problems with signal strength/staying connected the computers have full or almost full strength and no problems. I upgraded firmware for the router, spoke with applecare, have reset the router multiple times, and have been trying different channels. I had the phone in with the Apple store where they concluded nothing seems wrong with the hardware. The phone doesn't seem to have problems like this on other wifi networks I have tried. Using a speed test on the iPhone at home in the low connectivity areas results in horrendously poor latency numbers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently I'm using one e4200 (v1) as my main router in the house. The wireless coverage downstairs is perfect, but upstairs the signal is weak. To improve this I thought about adding the WAP610N as an access point to my network. But this device gets quite some negative reviews ... Thus I was thinking why not add another e4200 (v2) to my network? The price difference is not that big, especially compared to other simultaneous dual band access points. So my question is, would following scenario work?
- first e4200, connected to my ISP, acting as a router, using both the 2.4 as 5 ghz band (basically my current situation)
- second e4200, connected (via UTP cable) to the first e4200, in bridge mode
- second e4200 also using both 2.4 and 5 ghz band, using the same SSID, security etc but a different channel
So when moving a laptop for example from downstairs to upstairs, automatically the router/access point with the strongest signal would be used.
I have the e4200, well, I have had 2 e4200s and they both have had the same issue.I set up my e4200 manually with wpa2 security and I was getting about -50db rssi at my recieving device. Everything tested/worked fine and I went on with life.Without moving the router or anything else over the course of about 3 days the signal had dropped to -71dbm. I power cycled the router and it went back to -53dbm. I tried multiple channels and the same thing keeps happening. The same thing happened a few more times, I contacted tech support, but they just had me change channels.I took the router back for an exchange and the new one has done the same thing in LESS time! The router has the latest firmware and I keep it on an elevated plastic stand to prevent overheating.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my new E4200, I cannot connect wirelessly to the 2.4GHZ band. I can only connect to the 5GHZ band. I know its not the distance because i've got my laptop only 2 feet away. I've hit the refresh wireless network button, but the only network visible is my 5GHZ. I've also restarted the router, no luck
I went into the router settings and made sure that BOTH SSID'S are broadcasting a signal.and are enabled (ive got the channel and other settings set to auto). I'm able to connect perfectly well to the 5GH band, and walk around the house, but nothing i've done, allows me to see the 2.4GHZ band? So far, my wireless reception is poorer than my old wrt310n.
I am trying long distance to set up above router. Router communicates fine with laptop and wifi printer but when she tries to connect her iphone (I think iphone4), phone states that password is incorrect. She is using the same password that she used for the printer and laptop which is the router default one which is a series of mixed numbers and letters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a two story house with a basement. Right now I have a Cisco Linksys E4200 router on the second floor in one of the bedrooms. I have a DLink GamerLouge 4500 in the basement. Both systems have the same SSID and are running on different channels. Computers connect to the appropriate one automatically. At least assuming that's what's happening.I am getting limited connectivity on the first floor in the kitchen and family room. Dining room, right by the second floor stairs is fine. All the bathrooms are dead zones. Note I have thick travertine tiles on the walls in the bathrooms so may inhibit signals. Trying to figure out the optimal solution for getting the house setup so everywhere has at least decent signals. I have alot of iPad and laptop devices floating around the house so wireless is key. Note I have wired plugs with Cat5e all over the house to a central hub in the basement which is where the DLink router sits. Thoughts on how to improve my signal strength? Especially in the farther reaching bedrooms and the first floor

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently exchanged our old WRT54G with the current model WRT54GL. Unfortunately we have to reset the WRT54GL router a few times per week. We noticed that when one of the clients -- an iPod Touch -- is not being used on the wireless network (that person being away), the router runs without failing. I would suppose router reliability should not depend on the clients that it serves. Is anybody familiar with a similar problem? Is there a way to prevent the router from failing so
View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a new e1000 after a RMA. The new unit has a very weak wifi signal. I've tried all different channels. It is running in mixed mode. No microwave, blue-tooth or other noise. 4 feet from the router and the signal is down to -90db. Take a few more steps away and the connection is lost.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy new EA4500 works fine all day, both wireless and wifi, on both bands, but nearly every evening, the wifi signal disappears, as shown on a wifi app for my smart phone, but not on Issid on my laptop, strangely, and my PC laptop and iPad both disconnect, then reconnect. Smart phone disconnects too. It isn't like the signal drops in strength, it just goes away! I have tried various settings on modes, and bandwidths, I am using different SSID's on each band, WPA2 security with a long non-dictionary passphrase and MAC filtering. The hardwire connection works great at 30+ Mbps even when the wifi is disappearing from the wifi scanner and the wifi connections are dropping. In other words, the cable connection/modem is working fine, but the wifi radio signal stops or the SSID drops off the signal. I really can't tell, but I know it is becoming very frustrating. The old WRT54GS works fine if I put it back on-line in the evening when these things start to happen.
I have turned off everything I can think of in the house that transmits or might transmit, in case it is an interference thing. I have tried disabling the 5 GHz side, since I can't see what is happening on that band, and the last thing I tried was changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. So far, the past evening, it was okay, but I am not confident it will stay that way.
I've had a LinkSys BEFW11S4 wireless router for several years now -- ever since it first came out (this is a version 1, not even a version 2).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the top end ea4500 hoping its "high end" claims would get a better wifi signal in my bedroom(on my iphone 4s) than what i was getting with my WRT54G.The end result is it constantly drops signal completely or shows my network but when I try to connect says "cannot connect to wireless network" even though it's staring me right in the face. When I hook my WRT54G up, I get a signal.. all be it weak, but at least it doesn't drop out on me.Did I just waste almost $200 on a high end router that can't push a signal out stronger than my almost 7 year old WRT54G? or am i missing some setting that will make this EA4500 worth its claims? settings info:everything is pretty much on "default" aside from the SSIDs for the different bands and the corresponding WPA passwords.
also another problem, it seems like the router itself craps out every 60-120 minutes, no leds lit up on the router and my modem (Cisco DCP3010) shows no "link". Yet when hooked directly to the PC there is a "link", so pretty sure its the router and not the modem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt would be nice if there was a "Note" field next to each MAC field whereby you could specify what device the MAC belongs to. I have quite a few listed but recently I've gotten rid of the devices. I have to go through all my current devices, not them in another program, and then remove the ones that are no longer needed.
The Wireless Client List doesn't capture all the names so that's not what I'm looking for.
Also, it would be great if the "Note" would tie into the Parental Controls so that I know exactly what device I'm choosing. It currently lets you select from the Wireless Client List, but the list doesn't have all the Client Names populated.
So, one, is this feature available (or something similar) and two, if not, please take this into consideration as a useful feature for a new version down the road.
My e4200 v2 arrived today to replace my v1. I installed it along with a re1000 range expander for our big home. Works pretty well now, but did some google searching and it seems i could make my original e4200 into a bridge, would this be the way to go for max wifi? I could run a cat 6 cable upstairs along the outside of the home fairly easily.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwell, i just bought an E4200 and, by the way, was very hard to configurate. But the real problem is: if there is a power loss, both modem and e4200 lights up, but no internet connection is provided.Even the SSID desappear. I trried to disconnected everything, reconnect by parts, but no success.I wired connect the E4200 to my iMac and the router was ok, configurated. Then, i reconnect to the modem and all worked ok.Now im testing possibilities and is i reboot the router, the net desappear and i have to try possibilities till it works.
My older router connected automatically, without a problem, but i decide to buy "the best" brand and its top product". Now im disappointed..
Twice i realize that if the connections drops out, i have to disconnect and reconnect the internet cable from my E4200...
I am having a trouble with my router, our modem is the one that is connected to a TV box and it comes with a wifi function(a modem with a wifi function). I am not sure how to set it up, so I connected it to E4200 which is located in another room using CAT6 flat cable and set it to "Bridge mode". But whenever I open the TV box, the wifi won't work, and when it's closed, it works. :s how weird is that. Are there any problems? The modem with wifi will always work either way I open/close the TV box, but the E4200 wifi will only work when I close the TV box. I asked my service provider about this and they tell me it's not their problem anymore.
