I have a dell desktop with win xp i need to activate but cant get online to do so. The dsl and internet lights are on and my nic light is on via the ethernet cable.I went into safe mode to do a ipconfig and i got a internal error request not supported message. I wanted to try configuring the network connection settings but when i clicked on that in control panel when i was in safe mode nothing came up.

My laptop runs wirelessly all the time, and I recently picked up a desktop PC for home here, and it's the first wired connection I'm using, but for some reason the wired connection isn't connecting to my network, but instead it's own Unidentified Network.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched over from AT&T Uverse to time Warner cable for Internet. I bought a Motorola Surfboard sbg6580. I have the surfboard hooked up and all is well. Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dell XPS 8300 has been connecting to the internet without a problem for months until this morning. This morning the computer will not connect either through the LAN or wifi adapter. The network tray icon has the yellow triangle and says "no internet access."
I have reset both the computer and router multiple times and I have also unplugged them in between. Other computers in the house connect to the router without a problem wirelessly. This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the networking/system software configuration. The computer can't ping the router. It may be the software/system config was corrupted in the last 24 hours and I may need to reinstall the operating system which I would rather not do.
It doesn't appear that any unusual software updates were made in the last 24 hours beyond Adobe Acrobat and Flash. There have been no system updates that I could identify within the last month or so.
My laptop wont connect to a wired or wireless network in my house. its an acer aspire 5741 series. the other laptop that im using to write this connects to the modem with no problems. all mobiles are connecting fine aswell. is my computer broke?

View 1 Replies View Relatedhave a Cisco 5508 controller (version 6.0.199.4) that when I enable global multicast mode it will work for an hour or two and then it will kill the network. All internet both wired and wireless, access to server everything dead. I then have to directly connect to the service port and disable the global multicast mode. Then two reasons for enabling it are Docs2Go and LanSchool both require multicast to be enabled. I have it enabled on our wired network and it works OK there. ted.

My compaq computer says it is connected to the Internet by 2WIRE but when I open Internet Explorer or Safari it cannot display the webpage. Throughout the day (sometimes even 5minutes apart) the DSL light will turn red, the internet will turn off green and 20-40 seconds later they'll both become green again. It's irritating because it sometimes happens so frequently and causes me to close EVERYTHING I have opened in my browser. If I'm on xbox or an online game, it disconnects completely (even if the light is only red for 15 seconds)I have data error stats .tl;dr: 2wire modem giving me problems. DSL light turns red randomly for 20-40 seconds, sometimes up to twice in 5 minutes.

Normally I have no problems connecting to any and all wireless routers. Recently, my internet quit without warning. I've tried connecting via a hardline, and I've tried resetting pretty much every router and connection on campus, with no luck. I've been using "Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N Home ADSL2+ Modem Router WAG120N". I can restrict internet access to only 8 computers using their Mac adresses but there are no ore entry fields for Mac adress than 8. What shall I do when I need to block internet access to more than 8 computers say 20 computers on wired LAN? I don't like the option blocking the internet access via IP address. However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFSR41 V2 router connected to a westell c90 modem and my provider is Bellsouth.net (AT&T). I have the modem set to PPPoE and DHCP enabled. I am using the router as a gateway. The router's status page indicates that is communicating with the modem. Release and renew works and I can detect the addresses of the modem. I just can't pull up websites. I am wondering if this router (12 years old) is not compatable with the service.

I am able to use non-broswer related internet applications like STEAM, MSN or QQ with no issues in terms of speed or stability. But when I use my browsers to surf, I can have periodic moments when I cannot surf the internet, such as IE9 which says that I cannot connect to the internet due to some unknown error. But when I run diagnostics, it says that I do not have any errors. My adapter for my wired is the Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). I have already contacted my ISP provider who have worked for with all the troubleshooting methods they can over the phone, and I trust that they are doing their best. But now it seems to me that the problem lies in my computer hardware or software and not in my router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an RV042 Router and did a one-to-one NAT mapping for my server using an additional external IP I received from byt ISP, pointing to machine 192.168.2.5. I am now successfully able to access the machine via the external IP without issue, however the server is no longer able to ping any external IPs?
the machine has been assigned a static IP of 192.168.2.5 and static DNS servers.
When I turned my computer on this morning, it had no internet access.
I haven't changed any settings - I think there was a Windows Update though.
Windows 8, Intel 82579V.
The DNS settings are correct, that is, unchanged and what we have always used.
I can access the network fine, browse shares, see the other machines etc. but the network icon in system tray says "No Internet access.".
I can ping the gateway.
All other computers on the network have Internet access.
The network cable works and provides internet access when plugged into a different computer.
I have tried disabling IPv6. I have tried disabling/enabling the network connection. I have restarted Windows multiple times. I have tried disabling Windows Firewall.
I am at a complete loss as to what to try next.

I own a BEFVP41 v2.1. Under "access restrictions" I set days and time when access to internet it is allowed. Also applied "Website Blocking by URL Address" and "Website Blocking by Keyword" however some users are now getting access to the internet. I must also mention this settings: Firewall protection it is enable. Router DHCP it is disable and we use static IP address for the PC´S so I established IP range to apply the restrictions. I also try blocking with MAC address of the PC's.Everything else it has default settings. Internet wire goes first to the router and then to the LAN switch. What am I missing?

I just connected 1 computer using the default IP with DHCP on the RV042 router. 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0.I connect my wildblue satalite modem using a static IP address 75.106.203.xxx / 255.255.252.0 I can ping the RV042 router and the static IP address of the wildblue router but I can't ping the gateway on the wildblue side. Either from the PC or the Router diag tools.

I've tried direct to modem and have no problem, have tried old router, no problem, but if I shut down desktop completely (Win7) and restart, I get no connection. Uninstalling the NIC (Intel 82579V Giga) and restarting, then I get connection again. However, if I start in safe mode with networking, I have no problems at all. My linksys wireless router bit the dust, trying to resurrect this old modem for use as a wireless router only. I've got the 2wire 2701hg-d connected to my isp's cable modem and to my laptop via two of the LAN ports. the lac connection gives me internet access (obviously...here i am...) but the wireless connection gives me no internet access...i can log in to the 2wire's firmware via the wireless connection...but i' m not sure what settings (if needed) i have to change.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2wire 2701hg-b wireless router/DSL modem. Every once in awhile, my wireless devices all lose their connection to the router at the same time. I believe the problem is internal to the router/modem as all my wireless devices' connections are dropped at the same time AND I can only get them connected once I disable and then re-enable the wireless on the router. The problem seems to only affect wireless devices as all my wired devices remain connected and my Internet connection remains intact as well.
