View 2 RepliesI just installed windows 7 into my computer and I need to verify my copy of windows. I tried connect my Ethernet wire from my computer to the wireless router but it's not connecting or registering. The wireless router is a WRT54G and I can access the device ip for it but I don't know how to assign an IP address for the new computer. I already had a computer (wired) and a laptop (wireless) connected to the router. I'm using a straight trough Ethernet wire Doing the steps in the sticied post below didn't work because typing ipconfig /release didn't work?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wired it all up correctly, and Continue to get "error 322: check router" upon every attempted install. I did some research and tried releasing and renewing IP amongst restarting all networking devices AND PC's. Peculiar enough, I could connect AND get online wirelessly from a netbook, but neither of my 2 PC's could connect via a wire. I got a defective router, is it possible the ports are malfunctioning? because the lights are on, but 3 or all of the 4 lights are continually on when only 2 ports are plugged in

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I have TalkTalk broadband. For the past few years I have used the WiFi not connecting with the Yellow wire. But now I want to move a PC up stairs. I brought a longer White wire so it would reach from downstairs where it is plugged in to upstairs (if I just plug in modem in upstairs it will not connect) So this is the idea I have downstairs the phone that is plugged into another white wire extender that leads from the main plug in the wall. In that extender is the phone and the OTHER extender that leads upstairs to a room just above. The extender leading upstairs has the internet modem plugged into it. now the extender white wire from the other extender downstairs has one of those white square plugs. (the ones that go from the main socket and the phone and modem connects too) And that Square plug is where the modem is plugged into. BUT now this is the annoying part! it will not connect to the internet without being in the same plug as the phone downstairs!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my desktop to my laptop over the WLAN. Both computers are connected to the router, as well as I've got no problems sharing files to my PS3 via media servers. But connecting the two computers is impossible. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried connecting the two both using Homegroup services, and in the old fashion way, without the Homegroup service, using only IPv4.It seems like firewall settings and sharing in general works ok, but making it work over WLAN is very troublesome.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes the color strips on C3750X stack power cables mean anything, I mean the green and yellow ones. On all Cisco pictures the green one seems to be plugged in the upper ports. I asked local Cisco representative, but he seems not to be sure. We tried to try different scenarios, and it looks like it does not matter what cable end we use. We do not have any external power supply, only interconnecting C3750Xs.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am a gamer and i rely on the internet to do some buisiness as well, a few months ago my router started randomly dropping me from my connection and then 10 seconds later the connection is back up. now i know alot about computers and cant figure out why this is happening. it seems that the problem starts with skype. when i play some games while in skype(we use it as a communication device for the games) i will get dropped from skype and from my game, then skype reconects and i can reconect to the game but 5 minutes later it happens again. i have at&t and am using a 2701HG-B, my donwload speed is a max of 3mbps and usualy is around 2.7mbps. i have contacted at&t multiple times, i have reset my router multiple times but it hasnt fixed the problem. at&t stated that i am demanding too much bandwith from my connection. i feel that this info totally crap. when im on with just 1 of my many devices at 3am and all i am doing is playing a game and talking on skype and it disconnects, there is no way i am demanding too much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy housemates have been having a trouble with network coverage in my house, the router is located in the basement of my house, perfect for me as my room is also down there (Ethernet). Unfortunately my housemate in the attic room's signal seems to be a problem. I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove one of my routers two antennas solder some copper wire to the spot it was removed, then have the wire go up to the 1st floor and re-solder the antenna up there (mount it on the wall or something). I'm confident with the practicalities of actually doing this, but I'm not that techie when it comes to electronics. I'm not sure whether it would need more power to boost it over such a distance.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a 2Wire gateway that I got from AT&T for about 5 years. Although I've seen terrible reviews for 2Wire, I've had pretty good luck with this one. Now the Power light is a steady red and only light on. Tech support says that it's most likely the power adapter. As I understand, most what are called modems or routers today are a combination of these two, is that right? I see them in stores ranging from $30 to $200 or more, and they all say they do the same thing - almost identical wording. If it turns out that my adapter is good, what should I be looking for?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust purchased WRT54GL for family friend to extend the wireless range of their DSL via 2Wire ATT modem Wireless router. One desktop computer will stay wired to the 2Wire and laptop or 2 will connect to the WRT54GL since the 2Wire cannot reach into the yard (metal buiding). I've seen several examples of connecting two WRT54G together. I Can I do that well with std Linksys software or would I be better off downloading Tomato or DD-WRT third party?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have this E1500 Router that worked fine for the past 5 months, then out of the blue, the wireless feature ceased to function... laptops were not being able to connect to the wireless, the router was also not broadcasting the SSID.So, here's what I have done so far:
1. Check the router software settings, all was good there.
2. Did a "hardware reset" pushing the red button. (now this solved the problem, BUT only for a day, when power is turned off for the night, the next day it's non-functional again. The cycle can be repeated daily, but its a pain to reset and set it up everyday)
3. Updated the Firmware, and this somehow solved the problem for 3 Days... and now it's back to non-functional, again out of the Blue.
Is the Router just busted and it's not remembering the settings?
Is it possible to configure two AG241 adsl routers back to back via two wire line as a Lan to Lan network?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe router works fine until I plug the 4th wire in the back, which goes to a 2nd desktop computer, then it is only a matter of time until the router drops all internet connections including the direct wire to desktop #1, wireless, and the other two wires. This is my 2nd e2000 router since Amazon replaced the first one after about 4 months as it was having the same problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the delay is introduced getting data onto the wire. However say there are two hops to the destination server, each hop is via equal connectivity speeds say 1G interlinks.
Question:
Is there serialization delay FROM the wire/interface onto router/switch backplane/fabric?
Is the serialization delay from backplace/nic back onto the wire to the next hop? - Or if using a switch with equal in/output speed transmitted without serialization?
What happens with a routed interface vs switched?
Most articles discuss the latency induced between the much higher OS/NIC interface out to the wire, but not the switch/router serialization that does or doesn't occur.
I purchased Linksys (Cisco) EA2700. For the moment it is being used as an access point for a wireless network (WLAN) and an Ethernet switch. 4 laptops are being connected to it through the wireless network, the wire connects one computer and a separate ADSL modem (it is used for accessing Internet). As a result minimal ping to any of the devices in wireless network is 8 ms – the best result and sometimes rises to 20 ms. Consequently when working with local network resources one suffers from speed decrease. Ping to the access point through the wire varies from 1 to 8 ms. These delays are quite strange as even on cheaper routers ping does not rise above 2 ms (usually <1ms). Is it normal for the device?
