OK, so what is going wrong, I just bought this new HP computer windows 8 on Sat, have hooked up my net gear N300 WNA3100, and still can't get on line, and it was working fine on my windows XP machine, but it was 7 years old, and giving me trouble, and my WNA is less than 9 months old, so where do I go from here,

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desktop was connected to wireless router by ethernet cable but it seems the ports on the router are now US. Bought netgear N300 USB adapter and installed. Had problems getting "limited connectivity etc" messages 'cos wasn't getting IP address allocated. Have now manually allocated IP address and connection status is now "Connected" (with no warning about limited connectivity etc). However I can't connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI built my first computer today (woot!) but I'm having issues using my netgear N300 usb adapter to access the internet.
I am using a DLink router but for some reason I am getting some weird issues.
First of all, after using the netgear usb adapter, my mac address is something like E0-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx with the xx being the other numbers. Is having a macaddress starting with E0 wrong? All the other 5 devices on my router have mac addresses starting with 00.
Secondly, I am getting a 169.xxxxxx ip address. This is really starting to bother me because I can't set it up using DHCP.
Internet connection seems like it drops and comes back up every couple of seconds. Not just little drops, wont load a web page and lag me out of games drop. Usefully only for a few hours at most. But its been a full day this time. Ive been searching all all over the place and nothing is working. So with that I have a Netgear WNA3100 picking up wireless from my land lords up stairs. Not sure their router Id but Im pretty sure the problem is on my end. Ive downloaded and reinstalled updated driver, and I have "excellent" connection all the time, according to windows and netgears software. Ive tried pinging and I only lost one packet once (at yahoo.com) out of probably 100 pings, literally Ive been sitting here for a while, to the ip and some sites.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear DGN2000 router wired to a desktop machine running windows 7. In another room i have another desktop machine running windows XP. I have a netgear WN111v2 network adapter connected to this machine. The network adapter says it is connect to the router, the icon in the bottom right hand corner is green and the signal strength is in high 90%s, yet when i start up internet explorer the message i get is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
Also, in the house there is a laptop running windows 7 (connected wirelessly - no problems) another laptop running windows xp (connected - no problems) and an Xbox 360 (connected ok). Been on to netgear tech support all they could suggest was to lower the security settings on the router, ultimately lowered down to disabled - still nothing. Disabled homegroup on the windows 7 machine still nothing running out of ideas now.
The main router is Belkin N300 and the new one is D-Link N300 DIR-651 for extended range.

My laptop downloads at 12 mbs and uploads at 5 mbs versus satellite which is about 1 mbs. However, I installed a Linksys N300 usb adapter on my wife's workstation and it is actually slower than 1 mbs. The workstation is about 4 years old running on Vista. I have tried the usb adapter in all four usb slots with no change in performance.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got 3 windows 7 pc's at home. IP V6 and IP 4 are enabled. I setup my wireless system and it worked 100%. After 3 months I add a LAN cable to two of my PC's. This is when it all started. My internet browsing became very very slow. When i shutdown the one machine it become fast again. I did the following. Pulled the LAN cable and it was still slow. I then put the cable back and disabled the Wi-Fi and it still was very slow. I rested the defaults and restored my old backup and it still slow. Now I can get any access to the internet any more. I the disconnected the netgear router and take a cheap router with only LAN ports and it work 100%. All the above i did with many router and server reboots.

The wireless connection says 100% but when I ope IE and yahoo homepage comes up it only stays connected for a sec and it says "unable to stay connect, do you wish to work offline" then it automatically put in offline mode, which doesnt work. The adapter worked fine for almost two months, but at the past 2 weeks it keeps disconnecting in every 2-15 minutes, for 1-3 minutes. I'd been previously using an ethernet cable to connect to an outlet which is also the cable connection for my television. I followed the instructions from the CD included, and I was able to successfully connect to the router, but it "cannot determine if I am connected to the internet." I added the device and MAC address to my wifi service account, and still no luck. I've tried connecting the old ethernet cable from the outlet I've been using to the router in one of the ethernet slots, with the provided ethernet cable being connected to my laptop and the 'internet' slot on the router. No internet connection. The recommendation is to "unplug the power cord from the DSL modem." I unplugged the power cord, waited, plugged it back in. Still nothing.

Some times it shows connected with 100% signal strength and after few seconds drops out. I cannot find any radio switch on this laptop. Fn/F2 does not work and there is no mention of wireless in the bios settings. I feel that the radio is not switched on but how do I do this?? Is my configuration incorrect?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought yesterday a wireless modem/router and Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem Router Td-W8960n.I have 2 laptop computers at home.The first issue I have is that with one of the laptops (quite old - Acer Aspire 2420-2579 with Windows Vista Basic Service Pack 1) I can not connect (wireless) to the internet. It says local access only. However in other countries (IM in NZ) it does connect to internet. It does work when I use an Ethernet cable between my router and the laptop. The second issue is with my other laptop. A HP Pavillion DV-4 windows vista home premium service pack 2. I manage to get wireless access to the internet but every couple of minutes the connections drops and starts again by itself�. After 1-2 min approx�. it is getting pretty annoying!I don�t think it is the routher as I also have an XBOX 360 connectet to the internet usign the same device and works absolutely fine!

Previously, all computers were connected to a security-enabled network called 'Johnson'.I installed the new adapter via the wizard and it ended up creating a new network entitled 'NTGR_zhOXSTT8ZSXtTUsaRd5lXfrq-WPS'. Johnson has now disappeared from the list and no other computer is able to connect to this new network. I tried changing from WPA2 to WEP and changing the password in hopes that the other computers will be able to login but it didn't work.

I have the inspiron 15z Ultrabook for only 2 months now and it's drives me crazy. There are a lot of other forums out complaints out there that say the same thing I'm experiencing about the Wi-Fi adaptor of the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook.Within our family we have 4 laptops and sometimes when the kids are home visiting with friends there can be 6 to 8 laptops within our home online at the same time. But, I will have to make a correction, because the Wi-Fi Adaptor on the Dell inspiron 15z Ultrabook continuously drops off the net. It does it so frequently I’m embarrassed to tell others. It isn’t a fast fix either as it can take up to 20min to get the win-Fi adapter to start receiving internet signal. Sometimes it only takes 5min. What is odd, all of our other laptops, both new and old, never have this problem unless the power goes out after the storm . I have updated all the drivers and followed the steps on a Dells customer support. I love the touch screen, the keyboard with light behind the keys.
BUT, I can't live with the Wi-Fi adapter that cannot hold on to a signal and ends making the simplest of work a headache. Just last night I spent over an hour trying to get back on a wireless connection and finally had to go to an old XP laptop to get online. The whole point in having an Ultrabook is having a machine that is portable, works effortlessly with wireless connections and makes where ever you are a virtual office.
I recently bough a belkin router (Share N300) but it just wont connect to the internet.My setup is as follows:ADSL -> Modem -> Router -> PCThe internet works fine when I connect it directly to my PC (via the modem), and other PCs too.So no issue of MAC address lockdown.I've tried connecting through static mode with the data from ipconfig /all, but it still doesn't work.I've even installed DD WRT and Tomato to no avail.
