Protocols / Routing :: Cannot Connect Wireless Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem To The Internet
May 13, 2012
I bought yesterday a wireless modem/router and Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem Router Td-W8960n.I have 2 laptop computers at home. The first issue I have is that with one of the laptops (quite old - Acer Aspire 2420-2579 with Windows Vista Basic Service Pack 1) I can not connect (wireless) to the internet. It says local access only. However in other countries (IM in NZ) it does connect to internet. It does work when I use an Ethernet cable between my router and the laptop. The second issue is with my other laptop. A HP Pavillion DV-4 windows vista home premium service pack 2. I manage to get wireless access to the internet but every couple of minutes the connections drops and starts again by itself. After 1-2 min approx. it is getting pretty annoying!I dont think it is the routher as I also have an XBOX 360 connectet to the internet usign the same device and works absolutely fine!
I tried restarting the router and the computer, but to no avail. I've also tried with another ethernet cable and tried several ports, but that did not work, either. What is interesting is that other computers in the household connect to the router via wire without problems. I suppose that means something's wrong with my computer, however, I do not know what. I have a netgear router which says "N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN2200v3" on the back. My computer has Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I'm using a DSL connection, and Avast! antivirus.
Nearly every morning/evening I have to re-boot my router to get internet access. Netgear N300 ADSL2+ modem router Model DGN 2200 (had about a year), Windows 7 64bit Home premium Laptop connected wirelessly, Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium desktop connected by LAN cable. ISP BT Internet. Until recently this set up has been working OK with occasional loss of interent access and need to re-boot router. The internet light has been showing red on those occasions. Over the last two weeks I have found that when I turn one of computers on although all lights on router are green I have no internet access. I have to re-boot, then all is OK until the next day when I have to re-boot again. My phone line appears OK with no noise on line, no reported problems on BT broadband staus. The thing that puzzles me is that the lights are all green on the router yet my networking icon on the pc shows an exclammation mark and 'no internet access' and I do not have access to net.The wireless connection is OK with excellent strength.
how to properly configure 2 different hardware devices to extend the current wifi signal of my home network.I'm using a Motorola SBG6580 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem as my primary access point (AP) and a Netgear N300 DGN2200v1 ADSL2+ modem router which will function "behind" the SBG6580 in repeater mode. I previously had DSL for my internet connectivity but recently switched to broadband cable for faster speeds.Due to the layout of my home, I cannot physically connect the Netgear router to the Motorola modem via ethernet cable and need both devices to communicate wirelessly. I have already done extensive reading on this subject and best practices suggest that, whenever possible, both units should be the same brand/manufacturer. The Netgear appliance does have the capability of being configured as a repeater so if I don't have to buy a "network extender" that would be my preference.I understand that both units must be configured to have the same SSID, subnet, wireless channel and security encryption. In repeater mode the Netgear router can't be configured to use WPA2-PSK so I need to use WEP instead.

I Bought thisTD-W8968 a month back.. It was working alright till a few days back. From the past 3days i'm experiencing internet light and DSL light going off...The DSL light is not constant even for 5min...When the DSL light comes up, the internet light takes almost 5min to comeup or before internet light come up the DSL light goes off. There wasn't problem with my old UT star modem..I already checked, its running fine without disconnection..When i replace it with TD-W8968 router ,the problem continues.. When my internet connection was good...The SNR margin was like 25 for upstream and 31 for downstream...After 2 days it went mad. here are the images shows about current reading..Fluctuates between 0.2 - 100 upstream and 2-35 for downstream

I had Purchased a brand new TP-Link WifI Modem Router TD-W8961ND with S/N : 12CB5200872 from [URL] and it got delivered few days back. When I am trying to connect it to the internet the modem is not getting connected nor configured. The Power button light, ADSL Light and internet light are continuously blinking and nothing is getting steady. The modem is appearing to be a damaged piece of modem and it is very unfortunate that we have got a modem from flipkart in an unserviceable condition. It came with a warranty of 03 years and I wanted a replacement so that I can use the modem for connecting internet.
Just yesterday my laptop could connect to the Internet. Now it would just connect to the modem (via wi-fi), and there would be no Internet connection. All other computers in my house using wi-fi work fine. Here are my results when I type in the ipconfig /all in the command prompt.

I have reset the modem but after resetting it I can't go for internet anymore with computer or wifi . And after that I notice that my wifi is not under any security which is free for all.can I know how to fix this problem ?the main problem is mostly that can't go internet after reset it
I had a power outage while online and when power resumed, I was no longer able to connect to the internet via my wireless router. My laptops (I have 2, work and personal) both receive the wireless signal from my router (a Linksys WRT54GC) but I get a 'DNS lookup failed' error message when trying to access the internet. My standard set up was Arris cable modem-->Linksys router-->Laptop but I've had to go cable modem-->Laptop via Ethernet in order to access the internet.
Both laptops are running WinXP Pro, SP3 and I ran 'ipconfig/all' on my work one, once when connected via Ethernet and once when I had my wireless connection enabled (but again, not connected to the internet). Results below.
Ipconfig/all when connected via Ethernet to cable modem:

I've noticed the modem becomes unresponsive under use with torrents and only thing that works is to turn it off & on from power button then works for a few more minutes then crashes again on the latest firmware.

I have set up this modem correctly as it will occasionally sync and internet will be connected for a short time 5-10 seconds then loses sync.Have asked ISP to check line and they say it is fine. I have upgraded to current firmware but same result.I purchased for wireless N and print server features.Have reverted back to 4+ year old Netgear DG834GV which works perfectly with same cabling, filter etc. ISP suggest connect VG3631 on ADSL 1 but if I need to do that I may as well take it back and buy a cheaper wireless AP.I also set my existing Netgear as modem only and connected to EWAN port of VG3631 and it did the same thing (kept dropping connection), this suggests that it is a VG3631 hardware or software problem (completely separate to DSL/Line issues).

My Toshiba laptop can't get connected to the wireless ADSL modem router TD-W8960N. I have 4 different laptops and one desktop, all connected to the router very well, only the Toshiba cannot get on Internet. I can connect to the wireless network on the laptop, but it shows limited access.

I made some changes on my wireless modem router to stop dhcp and dns provided by my device. A server is now doing it, but at the same time I appear to have connection issues where I didn't before. In an attempt to resolve the issues I looked at the System Log and a number of things were coming up that concerned me. These are as follows:
-user: tr69c: Unable to retrieve attributes in scratch PAD
-user: Stored Parameter Attribute data is corrupt or missing
Additionally I'm getting a lot of kernel: Intrusion alerts which I can't determine how serious they are. Where to start tracking down these issues (if they even warrant investigation).
I have a Compaq mini CQ10-100 Netbook, and I am trying to Make a Wireless internet connection through a D-link router. My ISP is Cox Cable. The Netbook is connected to my wireless network, but will not connect to the internet. It keeps asking me to transfer information, via thumb drive, from a wireless access point, but my router is my wireless connector and it doesn't have a USB port to plug in a thumb drive. How do I get this netbook hooked up to the internet?

I am replacing my qwest/centurylink actiontec q1000 with the td-w8960n. I have run all the different setups, with the different settings that I have found on the net but to no avail. The one thing I have noticed is that the light for the asdl on the td-w8960n does not come on, but yet when I plug it back into the actiontec it sees it and the internet works. Any reason why the td-w8960n is not recognizing the active dsl line?
I have a d-link dslg604t, i tried to do the frimware upgrade and it froze in the process. Now the internet doesn't work at all. I have uninstalled the drivers, reset the modem and it indicates the modem is working as in i have the two monitors and the blue flashing light between them shown, also all the network settings are there. DHCP is assigned automatically etc etc. I can ping the modem but when i try to connect to the internet i get "detecting proxy server", "internet explorer cannot display the page". "FTP (passive)- Error 12007 connecting to ftp microsoft.com
I have a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router(DGN1000) which i need to connect for wireless access..My internet connection is a wireless one(antenna connected on roof) connection available to only one computer with an RJ45 LAN.Is it possible for me to connect the router to this LAN cable and get internet on more than one computer at a time?? I have the following information
IP : Subnet : Default Gateway : Primary DNS : Secondary DNS : MAC of the Registered Computer :
The whole thing about IPv6 has been out for what is probably a couple of years now. But I find it very odd how even my newest modem/router can't even support it yet. Why on earth are manufacturers such as Netgear holding back so much on making their products IPv6 compatible? The IANA has just about given out what is left of the addresses, and we still have time to adapt by working our way over to IPv6 as it can work simultaneously with IPv4. Companies have been given years to prepare.
Why can't I connect to the Internet right now using IPv6? Not only is my router holding me back, but will my ISP hold me back as well?
Basically, I was following instructions of how to forward a port to get higher speeds on bitcomet. After doing allsorts which I don't understand (yes, very stupid I know, but I've learned my lesson now), I restarted my computer and have since been unable to connet to the internet.
I have tried a system restore which didn't work and also searched google for hours but to no avail. When I diagnose the problem with windows,it states," "Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.I am running Windows 7 btw.
In recent days, there was an electrical fault and my computer does not automatically connect to the wireless network in the house, since then. I do not know what happened.
I bought this ( Belkin N150 Wireless Modem Router with Push Button Security Set Up and Network Status Display (F6D4630uk4A): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories )I want to use this instead of the modem I have now. Is it possible to make this my modem to connect to from the internet? I have a cheap talktalk modem and I want to get rid of it.
I have TP-LINK TL-WR740N router and I am trying to configure it to work with my Broadband cable over PPPOE.The router once configured show status as connected with a proper IP and DNS servers. When I use the routers inbuilt ping utility to ping Google or any other site I get a reply. But when I connect my computer to the router on the LAN port I see no internet on my computer. I am able to ping the router address but not google.I tried disabling all Firewalls and Antivirus I have but problem still the same. Also I tried connecting over WIFI but still no internet.I also called up TP-LINK helpline several time and got my router replaced. They also tried a few settings on my machine but no success.

I just bought online a brand new TD-W8970 modem/router but I'm in trouble with getting ADSL working.I set up a PPPoE connection with the settings from my ISP but the ADSL Led on the device is solid OFF and in the Admin section it says DSL Status: Not Connected.
