I've noticed the modem becomes unresponsive under use with torrents and only thing that works is to turn it off & on from power button then works for a few more minutes then crashes again on the latest firmware.

I have set up this modem correctly as it will occasionally sync and internet will be connected for a short time 5-10 seconds then loses sync.Have asked ISP to check line and they say it is fine. I have upgraded to current firmware but same result.I purchased for wireless N and print server features.Have reverted back to 4+ year old Netgear DG834GV which works perfectly with same cabling, filter etc. ISP suggest connect VG3631 on ADSL 1 but if I need to do that I may as well take it back and buy a cheaper wireless AP.I also set my existing Netgear as modem only and connected to EWAN port of VG3631 and it did the same thing (kept dropping connection), this suggests that it is a VG3631 hardware or software problem (completely separate to DSL/Line issues).

RE: Voice SIP Account Phone Number Not Accepting 2 Characters My ISP TPG VoIP SIP account phone number is my TPG username rather than an actual normal telephone number. When I enter my 2 characters TPG username 'xx' as my TPG VoIP SIP account phone number as the 'Phone Number' field in the 'Voice - SIP Account' modem router management page on the LAN IP 192.168.1.1, then I press the 'Save' button, I encounter the error message "The length of 'Phone Number' is out of range[3,32]."I believe this error is due to my TPG SIP account Phone Number’ is not within the TD-VG3631 ‘Phone Number’ character length range from 3 to 32 inclusive.My old modem can register to my TPG VoIP account successfully with my TPG username 'xx' as the VoIP SIP account phone number.
I have contacted my ISP TPG and tried to get an actual VoIP SIP phone number. However, TPG does not provide an actual VoIP SIP phone number to their customers. TPG states I should use my TPG username as my VoIP SIP account phone number. They ask me to contact TP-Link to resolve the aforementioned error.Is there a way I can enter only 2 character TPG username as my VoIP SIP account phone number in the browser management page of the modem router? i.e. workaround, request TP-Link for a new firmware fix or else?

i purchased this new modem TD-VG3631 to replace my old one, Finished the internet configuration, it's ok, i can go to internet smoothly. however when i configured the voip function, i encountered a big problem, even i have entered all info which provided by Engin into your modem, it doesn't work. the status always down..Very sure it is not my account problem, because if i enter these info into my old modem , it works very well.

'm having the same problem my tp-link freezes several times a day and only a hard reset will get it working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I have contacted tp-link support and they say to make sure I have all the right ADSL configuration parameters.
I buy this model is QOS, I just read a lot of DIR-655 streamengine article, it's hardware-base QOS router, can operate under heavy p2p application, it's why I am here.The wireless Client is ACER AS1810TZ laptop, the wireless card is Intel wifi link 1000, I have already disable power saving option. AS1810TZ worked fine with my old 802.11G router linksys WRT54GS and Buffalo WRH-HP-54G.The dir 655 seems fine when I just surfing web and download some files with IE, but when I check the statistics, I see a lot of wireless error and tx packet/ rx packet dropped, the percent I calculate is about 0.5%, I am wondering if it's normal phenomenal?When I download several bit torrent files With XUNLEI simultaneously, total 6 files, after 3 minutes, lot of session be created, the router slow down the download and finally crashed, wan be reset and wireless connection lost. router can recover after 1 minutes and try to continue the BT download again, but failed again. Recently I've switched to Windows 8 Pro 32bit (from Win XP) and since that moment I have problems with USB Printer Controller Utility. I was able to print test page successfully but printing larger documents (for example PDF file, about 15MB of data needs to be transferred to the printer) results in blue screen of death. Additionally if USB Printer Controller Utility is started "automatically wit Windows" switching user results in BSOD about 30 seconds after the second instance of Printer Controlled is loaded. Right now I've not found any way to use USB Printer connected to TD-W8968 while using W8. WhoCrashes states that the crash cause was Printer Controller Utility. It is very easy to reproduce the crash.

I started having an issue with my modem earlier this week where drawing a large amount of bandwidth will cause it to crash. I called up my ISP (Mediacom) yesterday and had someone over to swap the modem out, but the problem is still there. The only solution I was able to find is if there is a direct link to the modem from my computer (ie, not connected to router anymore) then the modem never shuts down. I have no idea what on the router could cause the modem to shut down under heavy loads. And the loads I am describing are anything from streaming HD videos to downloading game through Steam. Normal web browsing is fine though. What I can do on the router (or configure on the modem; it's an RCA DCM425) to keep this from happening?

I bought yesterday a wireless modem/router and Tp-Link Adsl2+ N300 Modem Router Td-W8960n.I have 2 laptop computers at home.The first issue I have is that with one of the laptops (quite old - Acer Aspire 2420-2579 with Windows Vista Basic Service Pack 1) I can not connect (wireless) to the internet. It says local access only. However in other countries (IM in NZ) it does connect to internet. It does work when I use an Ethernet cable between my router and the laptop. The second issue is with my other laptop. A HP Pavillion DV-4 windows vista home premium service pack 2. I manage to get wireless access to the internet but every couple of minutes the connections drops and starts again by itself�. After 1-2 min approx�. it is getting pretty annoying!I don�t think it is the routher as I also have an XBOX 360 connectet to the internet usign the same device and works absolutely fine!

I made some changes on my wireless modem router to stop dhcp and dns provided by my device. A server is now doing it, but at the same time I appear to have connection issues where I didn't before. In an attempt to resolve the issues I looked at the System Log and a number of things were coming up that concerned me. These are as follows:

Additionally I'm getting a lot of kernel: Intrusion alerts which I can't determine how serious they are. Where to start tracking down these issues (if they even warrant investigation).

I am replacing my qwest/centurylink actiontec q1000 with the td-w8960n. I have run all the different setups, with the different settings that I have found on the net but to no avail. The one thing I have noticed is that the light for the asdl on the td-w8960n does not come on, but yet when I plug it back into the actiontec it sees it and the internet works. Any reason why the td-w8960n is not recognizing the active dsl line?

I have to either restart, or sometimes put the computer to sleep in order to get the back again. The problem is that when I'm downloading torrents, sometimes DIR-655 becomes unanswerable, no Internet connection and I can't access the config page. The only way to solve this, is to restart the router.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just bought an X1000 box, it seems to be randomly locking up and the only way around the issue is to reboot. I have also noticed it can't seem to handle streaming video either.
My ADSL has been checked and all is OK and if I don't stream video generally things seem OK for a couple of days. If I run a continual ping to the unit you can see that now and again the request times out but then some times comes back and other times I need to reboot again. The log file seems to show very little either.

Two week ago I bought the TD-W8970 ADSL router model. Im using a canon pixma IP4700 printer connected to the router USB print server port and everything is working without any issues if I just look to the router functionalities.
However since that Ive installed TP-LINK USB Printer Controller, my both computers (desktop with windows 7 and laptop with windows 8) are getting very often some BSOD.
I was editing all files automatically generated by windows on this cases and if seems that the cause of this issue is the file TplinkUDSMBus.sys (installed by USB Printer Controller).
To check the impact of this, Ive uninstalled the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller software from my laptop and I dont have any BSOD since 5 days ago. In the desktop Im still have the same issue.
The router print server is a nice functionality and I really want to use it.

I got a new TP-Link TL-WDR4300, connected it to my online pure sine wave UPS like I did with my previous routers with no problem.After about 24 hours, router crashes - no access to web interface, no internet (wired or wireless), must reboot to get it to work again.Router was replaced, same problem with new router.The firmware is the latest one and is customized for Israel because of 5GHz limitations.I was told by the representative in Israel that I should try to connect it to another AC outlet instead of the UPS.
I tried restarting the router and the computer, but to no avail. I've also tried with another ethernet cable and tried several ports, but that did not work, either. What is interesting is that other computers in the household connect to the router via wire without problems. I suppose that means something's wrong with my computer, however, I do not know what. I have a netgear router which says "N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DGN2200v3" on the back. My computer has Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I'm using a DSL connection, and Avast! antivirus.
