D-Link DIR-655 :: Becomes Non Responsive When Torrent Downloading
Feb 1, 2012
I'm using DIR-655 A5 (A4 in configuration page), with firmware 1.35W. My Internet connection is about 100/100 Mbps, through fiber optic. The problem is that when I'm downloading torrents, sometimes DIR-655 becomes unanswerable, no Internet connection and I can't access the config page. The only way to solve this, is to restart the router.
My problem is that whenever I leave a torrent downloading for a few hours (using a wireless connection), my internet connection drops, both wired and wireless. I have to power cycle the modem and router to get things working again. When I plug my computer in with an ethernet cord and leave a torrent downloading, the connection doesn't drop.
I buy this model is QOS, I just read a lot of DIR-655 streamengine article, it's hardware-base QOS router, can operate under heavy p2p application, it's why I am here. The wireless Client is ACER AS1810TZ laptop, the wireless card is Intel wifi link 1000, I have already disable power saving option. AS1810TZ worked fine with my old 802.11G router linksys WRT54GS and Buffalo WRH-HP-54G.The dir 655 seems fine when I just surfing web and download some files with IE, but when I check the statistics, I see a lot of wireless error and tx packet/ rx packet dropped, the percent I calculate is about 0.5%, I am wondering if it's normal phenomenal? When I download several bit torrent files With XUNLEI simultaneously, total 6 files, after 3 minutes, lot of session be created, the router slow down the download and finally crashed, wan be reset and wireless connection lost. router can recover after 1 minutes and try to continue the BT download again, but failed again. I've noticed the modem becomes unresponsive under use with torrents and only thing that works is to turn it off & on from power button then works for a few more minutes then crashes again on the latest firmware.

set the max download speed of torrent protocole by my router setup page ?My step father currently downloading with torrent and all the internet in the house is pretty slow so i will love to lower he speed so i can use my internet properly
What is the config.,which I can suggest my Bandwidth provider,so that my heavy files and small files should be downloaded at the same speed?y problem is that my bandwidth limit is 2 M.B.P.S. but I start getting drops as I start downloaded heavy files like 300 M.B. My Bandwidth provider told me that the only solution is that rate-limit will be increased. But it will be of Higher cost. Any configuration is there so that the same can be resolved without increasing Bandwidth.
I have a D-Link N 300 Gigabit Router. It's only allowing me to download like 30 MB at a time. If I bypass the router, the internet works just fine. How do I fix that?

My computer is says there's no network cable plugged in when i have it plugged in to my smc router but when i plug it into my cable modem i get signal . Ive updated my drivers. my network cable is good i tested it.. all the other computers on the network see the router.
issue with their ASA version 8.4.2 code? I loaded this code on my beta ASA last week and have seen it "hang" twice since the upgrade. The previous versions of 8.3 and 8.4 code on this same ASA did not have this issue.
I work for a small business of five computers. We have a wireless network for internet traffic, and a wired network for file sharing. The wireless network works great for using the internet, but we are having trouble with the wired network. The issue is being able to communicate with all of the computers on the wired network. The ability to speak with all of the computers on the network is hit or miss. Generally, computer A can speak with computer B, C, and D, but D can only speak with A.
I'm using a XP sp3 machine,dial-up. Was hoping to get connected to open/allowed wifi connection. Did some research, and a ALFA AWUS036h USB adapter looked like the one, good reviews. When I first plugged in and loaded software, it worked great as far as seeing 10-12 connections, and even showed as connected with strong signal on one open/allowed connection, but wasn't connected.Seems like the software doesn't run good, worked at first and I had netstumbler installed and 8-10 stations were showing there also, but after a reboot had no stations on mfg software, none on netstumbler, and never would show stations on XP Zero config., seemes the software got screwy after reboot.
I am running XP pro. I have checked thoroughly for viruses/malware/etc. and everything appears to be clean. I have up to date drivers for NIC's, have cleared all temp data, done basically everything that the first tier Time Warner Cable(my ISP) tech support people will tell you to do as they read from that frustrating script we're all too familiar with and have had to deal with time and time before, including resetting modem and router, bypassing router, etc. etc. et bloody cetera.Ran several pings to a variety of servers and noticed ping spikes every 10or so seconds into the 300-600 range from an average of about 20-30ms.
I recently purchases an inspiron 1545 notebook with various upgrades, one including an upgraded wireless card to get faster speeds and signal strength. I have had problems with this laptop ever since i recieved it, i have an old laptop with a worse card which picks up my signal perfectly fine and the speed and signal stays constant. With this inspiron 1545 with a "even better" wireless card i have many problems:,losing signal, poor signal strength and quality, speeds going from decent to slower than dial up,I will be checking this as often as possible.
we've given up on the 4410n. we have two of them, one at the front of our office, one at the back (we have a floor in a highrise in san francisco). the one at the rear of the office - version one hardware, has never had any trouble. it just runs and runs and runs, has been up in the false ceiling for more than a year now. the one at the front of the office started giving us trouble within months of installation. not passing traffic. took it down from the false ceiling and kept it on my desk. staff got in the habit of just power cycling it when the first person showed up in the morning, since it always locked up overnight. RMA'ed it, got a version 2 hardware unit. seemed better initially - but it was faking it. same problems. going unresponsive overnight. gave up.
bought a $40 TrendNet AP. not a single problem in the month it's replaced the 4410N.
better quality hardware at less than 1/4th the price. wow. never buying a cisco WAP again.
When im using my torrent client bittorrent or now ive switched to utorrent i sometime have very slow internet. also when im using downloading using a torrent client even if im only downloading at only 20 kbps and not even using my total upload speed my router light is blinking very fast and i still have slow internet. I should note that on a website i go to and on my gmail notifier i get the error message " connection was reset".
I recently upgraded to Docsis 3.0 Routers Homenetworking Modem.Speeds are more than I am paying for when using WirelessOnly problem is. When I start a torrent in Bitcomet my whole modem will "disconnect".Including all the computers connected via Ethernet Cable.I have had the modem exchanged, same thing.I am not using a Router. The modem has wifi which I use.The modem stays online it's just that is loses its internet connection, I have had a technician over to see for him self, he didn't know what to do, he tried swapping the modem. Same thing.
We would like to disable torrent downloads in our network, we are having problems with employees downloading large files from different torrent sites, how could we disable said downloads in out main router without a server?
We are using WI-FI with more than 20 clients at a time. Now the speed seems to very decreased, because most of them using torrents for downloading. Is this the correct reason for low speed? How can I detect who or howmany people using torrent? And is there any need to block torrents?
I have the linksys WRT120N router and I want to block torrent programs, so that everybody can enjoy fast browsing with the modest but expensive package we are using in our remote location. How can I make certain that no one will be able to use them and abuse the internet?
I know the F7D4301UK router browser interface provides some view and control of offline torrent activity as I've used it in the past. Not for a while though, and I don't recall the path after the [URL]. How I access it?
If I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.
My problem comes in when trying to add another couple computers to the network, both of these machines are Windows........95!!! These are being kept as they have some programs on that are needed unfortunately! But I cant get these machines to show up in in the "Networked comps section" but can see my win 7, vista, and xp machine.
So I am downloading a game off of steam and getting like 100-200kb/s. I went to speedtest.com and it said I have a download speed of 11.72mb/s. What could be causing me to get such a low download speed off of steam?
my internet will cut out randomly wheneveer i am downloading something, and the only way to get my internet back is when i unplug / plug back in my ethernet cable, or restart the computer. Also whenever i do this once, it will randomly disconnect when im not downloading every hour or so and i will have to either disconnect / reconnect my ethernet, or if i restart my PC it will fix it for like 4-5 days if i didnt download anything at all or sometime during a download if i did download something. Also it is only my PC that does this, i can download from my laptop / xbox fine and if my PC is disconnected i still have internet from my modem / router, just not the PC. I am guessing this has something to do with my motherboard. i am using windows 7?
I have a Dell Latitude D530 - I am only able to,download at a speed of 2.95 while I can upload at nearly 7,My PC that is attached to the same provider will, download at 7.84 and upload at 7.96.
