Feb 17, 2010I buy this model is QOS, I just read a lot of DIR-655 streamengine article, it's hardware-base QOS router, can operate under heavy p2p application, it's why I am here.The wireless Client is ACER AS1810TZ laptop, the wireless card is Intel wifi link 1000, I have already disable power saving option. AS1810TZ worked fine with my old 802.11G router linksys WRT54GS and Buffalo WRH-HP-54G.The dir 655 seems fine when I just surfing web and download some files with IE, but when I check the statistics, I see a lot of wireless error and tx packet/ rx packet dropped, the percent I calculate is about 0.5%, I am wondering if it's normal phenomenal?When I download several bit torrent files With XUNLEI simultaneously, total 6 files, after 3 minutes, lot of session be created, the router slow down the download and finally crashed, wan be reset and wireless connection lost. router can recover after 1 minutes and try to continue the BT download again, but failed again. Dec 16, 2011Before, I can access admin panel of router via 192.168.1.1 on any computer, be it wired or wireless.This time, I can't anymore.This time, I can only access admin panel on 1 computer only. The computer in which it's directly connected to the router, wired. All other computers, connected to a switch, which the switch is also connected to router, can no longer access admin panel.I can still open 192.168.1.1 with a username/password prompt but I can't log in. It's like it's always wrong password. Same with accessing from laptop (wireless).Before, I can access admin panel from any computer (wired), even from laptop (wireless). There are times that I have to restart router in order to fix my internet connection. Only this time, I have to access it from the computer that's directly connected to router (wired).How do I revert it back so that all computers will be able to connect to admin panel of router?I have just finished upgrading firmware from 1.0.05 to 1.0.06 but I still have the same problem.

Jan 7, 2011If I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.

Mar 26, 2013I have a Cisco WRT120N Router and a Cisco Valet AM10 wireless adapter. Almost every time the computer reboots, I loose my network and I have to redo the AM10 setup. The AM10 is the only device that loses the connection, my lap top and printer do not lose the connection.
Problem 2: Everytime I upplug and replug the AM10 a window pops up saying I need to check the drive for errors but none
are found.
Problem 3: I downloaded the AM10 install program, Downloadable.Setup.AM10.1.2.10148.2. It does not work. If I try to run it Iget an error message that the setup canot be completed and to call in for support.
Problem 4: When I can get it working is shows that it is Wireless Connection 5. Why 5 and not 1? Where are the other 4?

I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem.My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. Jun 19, 2012I've had an E4200v1 in use as my home's main router for about 3 mos. And while many others have reported disconnect problems (I think), I myself have never seen any. My router and its N & G wifi networks have been rock solid. Until yesterday that is.Now all of a sudden, most of my family is complaining about wifi disconnects, slow speeds, etc. (My primary PC is hard-wired so I don't see any problems whatsoever... the problem apears to be wifi-only)And the Apple devices (OSX & IOS) seem to have the most severe problems. But Windows devices have also seen problems, just not as critical.Also, it's worth noting that I've been running 1.0.04 the whole time, without any problems... it seemed relatively stable to me. That is until yesterday.
I've bounced the router, I've disabled/re-enabled Wireless G network. I've switched mode from "mixed" to "G-only" back to "mixed". I've changed the channel width back to the default of Auto (I had been using 20Mhz), which increased my throughput (as measured by Qcheck) so I'm leaving it "Auto".

If I disconnect the WRT54G and hard wire to the cable modem I can VPN in without a problem. I have enabled IPSec / PPTP / L2TP on the VPN security tab and have reset the wireless modem.

So I flash with the classic firmware, and it fixs the problem and automatically upgrade to smart Wi-Fi. That being said, whenever I plug in a portable hard drive, the router disconnect from internet after a minute. I tried my seagate HDD and also my flash driver. Both Lost internet after a minute or so. So I think it is probably the router's problem.

It was, and the problem is that my router switched to a dynamic IP after comcast installed a security system to my house. If I try to reset the router, the system goes down and takes a helluva long time to get back up. Whenever I try to switch to a static IP, however, I lose internet connection. Wondering how to fix this. Or do I have to switch back to my laptop - which might also not even work. (I'll go try that, but I'm using my desktop because it has extra RAM.)

Sep 5, 2010I'm using an Static IP adress and i'm using wrt120n router, but to connect the internet i have plugged the internet cable in the 1,2,3,4 (doesn't matter which one) slot. So now i'm just using the wirelss part of the router without "routering" if i can say so. When i put the internet cable in the Internet slot of the router, the laptop just cant connect to internet - it shows Unidentified network without Internet Access. I don't know what type of changes i have to make in the WEB interface of the router. I think i have to set the type of the connection - now is DHCP and may be to put my IP adress, DNS, Subnet mask in the router settings, but don't know how exactly. I've tried to set up the router with the CD-interface but same thing happened - Unidentified network when the cable is plugged in the Internet (yellow) port. How to set up the router to be a router, not just a wireless switch?

Jan 18, 2010My roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with.It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult.As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?

On the one PC, it keeps losing network connection. I've tried upgrading the router's firmware, reset, etc. to no avail.
I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?
