View 1 RepliesI have the linksys WRT120N router and I want to block torrent programs, so that everybody can enjoy fast browsing with the modest but expensive package we are using in our remote location. How can I make certain that no one will be able to use them and abuse the internet?
It has to do with page of the router:
[URL]
But don't torrent programs use random ports?
How can I speed up my bit torrent's speed for downloading torrent files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen im using my torrent client bittorrent or now ive switched to utorrent i sometime have very slow internet. also when im using downloading using a torrent client even if im only downloading at only 20 kbps and not even using my total upload speed my router light is blinking very fast and i still have slow internet. I should note that on a website i go to and on my gmail notifier i get the error message " connection was reset".

When I start a torrent in Bitcomet my whole modem will "disconnect".Including all the computers connected via Ethernet Cable.I have had the modem exchanged, same thing.I am not using a Router. The modem has wifi which I use.The modem stays online it's just that is loses its internet connection, I have had a technician over to see for him self, he didn't know what to do, he tried swapping the modem. Same thing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using DIR-655 A5 (A4 in configuration page), with firmware 1.35W. My Internet connection is about 100/100 Mbps, through fiber optic. The problem is that when I'm downloading torrents, sometimes DIR-655 becomes unanswerable, no Internet connection and I can't access the config page. The only way to solve this, is to restart the router.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that whenever I leave a torrent downloading for a few hours (using a wireless connection), my internet connection drops, both wired and wireless. I have to power cycle the modem and router to get things working again. When I plug my computer in with an ethernet cord and leave a torrent downloading, the connection doesn't drop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI buy this model is QOS, I just read a lot of DIR-655 streamengine article, it's hardware-base QOS router, can operate under heavy p2p application, it's why I am here. The wireless Client is ACER AS1810TZ laptop, the wireless card is Intel wifi link 1000, I have already disable power saving option. AS1810TZ worked fine with my old 802.11G router linksys WRT54GS and Buffalo WRH-HP-54G.The dir 655 seems fine when I just surfing web and download some files with IE, but when I check the statistics, I see a lot of wireless error and tx packet/ rx packet dropped, the percent I calculate is about 0.5%, I am wondering if it's normal phenomenal? When I download several bit torrent files With XUNLEI simultaneously, total 6 files, after 3 minutes, lot of session be created, the router slow down the download and finally crashed, wan be reset and wireless connection lost. router can recover after 1 minutes and try to continue the BT download again, but failed again. I've noticed the modem becomes unresponsive under use with torrents and only thing that works is to turn it off & on from power button then works for a few more minutes then crashes again on the latest firmware.
I know the F7D4301UK router browser interface provides some view and control of offline torrent activity as I've used it in the past. Not for a while though, and I don't recall the path after the [URL]. How I access it?

set the max download speed of torrent protocole by my router setup page ?My step father currently downloading with torrent and all the internet in the house is pretty slow so i will love to lower he speed so i can use my internet properly
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.
i have WRT610N v1.0 with latest original firmware but ftp upload speed and torrent download speed is terribly slow.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to block the P2P traffic on a Cisco router. How can do it effectively? I configured NBAR on my router but still users can download using the utorrent client.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am learning to write ACL's along with a billion other Cisco things. The internet is not clear on how to do this exactly. At least in my research.
I have two host on the same subnet and I want to block all except RDP TCP port 3389 from one host to another.
I want to apply that Access-group to a switchport interface on my 3750 that belongs to the computer I want to protect from the other.
Host A: 10.1.1.10/24 -- I need to block all TCP and UDP traffic except for port 3389tcp
Host B: 10.1.1.60/24 -- I need to allow only TCP port 3389 from Host A to this one.
This is on the same switch so I can use an extended ACL like 101 or whatever.
This is almost starting to make sense to me but im still weak on extended ACL. I got basics down pretty well.
how the address stops at 31 in the second octet. I'm not even completely sure how it starts at 16 for the first address (172.16.0.0). are we dealing with subnets?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2800 router. I have been noticing a lot of traffic to Pandora lately. At times my pipe is 25% music streaming and my router utilization can be quite high. Our web filtering is a hosted service that does not block all traffic depending on some of the ports. It is really designed for port 80 and 443 only.
We decided we want to block access to Pandora completely on both our primary internal LAN's and our Guest wireless LANs.
When I perform the ARIN lookup, I get these results for the IP range:
NetRange: 208.85.40.0 - 208.85.47.255
CIDR: 208.85.40.0/21
The CIDR notation does not make sense to me entirely. The IP range includes 8 class C networks. The /21 is a class b subnet of 255.255.248.0 or a router broadcast address for routing tables (depending on how you want to look at it). I was not sure if I could block the address based on the router CIDR range of if I had to use the individual classful IP ranges.
Should I block "208.85.40.0 0.0.7.255" in my ACL or should I create 8 entries to block the networks like this?
208.85.40.0 0.0.0.255
208.85.41.0 0.0.0.255

I have 2 routers, one is a cisco 800 series router and the other just a plain WRT54G router. I have a block of 5 IPs. I have configured both routers with their own external ip addreses. Both routers can be used to connect to the internet. I can ping the cisco 800 router from the WRT54G router, but I can't ping the external ip of the wrt54G router from the 800 series router. I've checked the firewall, and acls, but I can't seem to find the right setting. I was also thinking that maybe it was something with the routing, but that didn't work either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was asked to block pings from the internet to the outside interface of our ASA-5505 firewall. I found a post that said to enter "icmp deny any outside", however that does not do it.
I created an ACL to try and do the trick, also to no avail:
access-list outside_in extended permit icmp any any echo-reply
access-list outside_in in interface outside
access-group outside_in in interface outside
where is the best place to block unwanted traffic? By that I mean, should I block it at the router, firewall, IPS? As an example, I'm dealing with DNS flood attacks - probably DDoS and reflection. I have a pair of Cisco 2821 routers with two different ISPs doing BGP. Behind that I have an ASA 5510 with IPS module. Behind that I have 2 public DNS servers. Over the last few days I've seen an increase in bogus DNS queries - high volume, distributed. My question is where is the best place to put the ACL to block them? I've been putting them on the ASA, but when the attack is running, it jacks the CPU to 60%. If I don't put the ACL, the IPS seems to pick them up after a while and the CPU is almost as high as with the ACL. I haven't tried to put the ACL on the routers.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to run an ethernet cable of about 60ft from the mpoe to the server closet. The path is rather challenging to pull the cable through. I was told that I could utilize the 66 block in the mpoe and the other 66 block in the server closet to make this run. Is that really possible? Just punch down the 2 pairs?
