D - Link N 300 Gigabit Router Stops Me From Downloading
Mar 9, 2012I have a D-Link N 300 Gigabit Router. It's only allowing me to download like 30 MB at a time. If I bypass the router, the internet works just fine.How do I fix that?

Windows 7 IE Stops Downloading At 2Mb?
Jan 25, 2013I have a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit,and whenever I try to download ANYTHING from any website,the download always stops at about 2Mb, as if IE just wont allow anything over 2mb to be downloaded.Nothing wrong with my connection (just a bit slow, compared to the rest of the world), and I have no anti-virus running or other protection software.

May 25, 2013I recently modified my home network in hopes of getting faster file transfers between devices. But it looks like something's not right.I'm suing Lan Speed Test and the best performance I get over WiFi is about 44Mbps (avg.). From my laptop to my NAS. If i turn off the WiFi and do the test over a wired connection the best I get is 200Mbps (avg.).
1. AT&T 2Wire cable modem. Internet comes in the house through this box and it's currently set up to be in bridge mode so that the TPLink router handles everything.
2. TP-Link WDR3600 gigabit/wireless router set to work in 5Ghz only, 11an mixed mode.
3. WD My Book Network Storage. Wired gigabit connection.
4. Desktop PC. Wired gigabit connection.
5. Laptop PC. Wireless.
6. 1 ipad v.2, 2 iphone v.5. Wireless.
Current setup:
1. internet cable goes into 2Wire Modem.Wireless on this device is OFF.
2. cable goes from LAN port on modem to WDR3600 router's internet port
3. cables go out from router to Desktop PC and NAS
4. all other devices are connected to the 5GHz wireless network created by the router.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Randomly Stops Broadcasting
Mar 30, 2011I just bought a dlink 655 from amazon and for some reason the router stops broadcasting on wifi. I cannot connect to it through my laptop or ps3. The only thing that fixes this is removing the plug from the back of it and putting it back in, once i do this, the SSID shows up once again and all is well until the next day (or 2 days after)

Feb 19, 2011My D-Link DIR-655 will no longer let me pull up any web pages after several hours. For example, it works great when first rebooted, but the next morning web pages have timed out. When it is broken, I'm unable to connect to web pages via another wireless access point that i've plugged into the D-Link. I'm unable to use any of the wireless PCs or devices in my house.After it's rebooted, it works well for at least a few hours. It has the latest firmware and has basic, out of the box settings.

So yeah we have two internet connections.Getting weak signals from both of the routers in my room on the far left side of the house and little to no signals in the basementSo what I want to ask is that should I purchase better routers or should I go with a signal booster of some sorts like an Access Point or a Range Extender?Also is there such a device which would catch signals from both of these differently configured routers ( different internets, different wireless security keys etc ) and then boost them throughout the house if placed in an area where both the router signals are strong?

Sep 29, 2012I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser.The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.
I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000 The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment.All that said: I need troubleshooting this router and it's configuration before I consider buying a more expensive replacement (and if I go this route, I might add a small switch as well to give me more than 4 LAN ports to work with). I am also considering flashing to DD-WRT before replacing as well to see if that makes a difference in reliability and uptime.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Stops Responding When Wireless Encryption Is Enabled
Mar 30, 2011My router is running the stock 1.21 firmware and it has been fine for almost a year before the wireless suddenly stopped working. I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause.In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).

Mar 29, 2013Every so ofter, the switch of the router just stops moving traffic between the LAN and to/from internet, though the WiFi keeps working and can still use internet.
I can still use the router's switch, and ping other computers on the local LAN, what happens is that the router stop routing wired traffic from/to internet, the rest of the issue is still the same, I opened reddit on my smartphone and there it was working via WiFi, but the would have none of it for the computers on wired LAN, not even accessing the router's page or telnet.
It is like some service or bridge between the switch LAN and the router itself dies... I'm still clueless.
The only "pattern" that I see is that my desktop is on line, because I can be not at home for 12+ HS and I can connect remotely to the server (rd p and trans droid) so I know it has internet access, but sometimes I think this happens when I turn on my desktop, like just now, this morning, but again, I feel is not every morning, trying to be more scientific about it I come here after every time it happens to record it, and also set the record straight about the issue description.
So, assuming it is not a hardware issue, because I did not had this problem in all 2011 and 2012, I do not overclock the router neither use other than default TX power level.
- How do I begin diagnosing this issue?
- If it is a known issue with this builds? I could no find it.
My goal is to be able to provide info for debugging the problem and possible finding a fix/workaround it. If it is indeed hardware failing, how do I even begin to diagnose it from that POV? The message is empty...
Even with the new build r21061 still happened two more times. Now the real problem to me, is that I cant even revert it to stock firmware, I tried even with:
- unplug router
- press and hold reset
- plug router
- keep pressing until power led blinks orange
- enter 192.168.0.1 (PC must have static IPA, i use 192.168.0.200)
Can't open 192.168.0.1 in FF nor chrome and does not even ping. [URL]. I just want to get it back to stock or do not hang up the switch-to-router(ing).

D-Link DIR-655 :: Stops Responding To Internet But Modem / Router Lights Fine
Jul 29, 2011As of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.

Apr 27, 2011I bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house.Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

D-Link DIR-655 :: Not Getting Gigabit LAN Wired?
Jan 7, 2011DIR-655 Firmware: 2.00NA (most recent) Hardware Version: B1 I am not getting Gigabit LAN wired. I am only averaging 25% of that, which means 256mbps or 32MBps. note the following:
- Router only connected to two computers (wired), wireless turned off
- Cable length does not exceed maximum specified length of 100 meters (328 feet). Neither does it exceed the usual maximum length of 100 feet. (both ends)
- Cable is CAT 5e (both ends) allowing Gigabit speeds
- NICs on both computer are able to run at Gigabit
- Both computers recognize the Gigabit connection speed
- Sustained Hard drive speeds are rated at 101.9MBps and 86.6MBps or 815.2mbps and 692.8mbps (therefore, connections should run at least 692.8mbps or 69% usage)
- Minimal programs were running in the background (in fact, almost nothing except for the OS itself)
- Windows 7 on both computers
- Later, I ran a streaming of a file and transferring files over the network, the speed still remained around 25% usage, which means there's isn't a cap of network usage per program. (is there usually a cap?)
Things I don't want to hear:
- Cat 5e doesn't support gigabit
- Check cable has 8 cables instead of 4 (it has
- CPU not good enough (it's plenty fast for copying files, quad and hex core)
- Not enough RAM (plenty of that too, I don't know how much role RAM plays in transferring files over the network)

The computer is running Windows 7, 64bit, but there do not appear to be any drivers for that OS.I tried selecting Vista 64bit, but there were no drivers. The Vista 32bit doesn't work.

LS-WXL5BF - Gigabit NAS Only Using About 20% Of Link Speed
Jan 8, 2011I've got a Buffalo LS-WXL5BF connected directly to one of my PC's gigabit ethernet ports. The link in the Win7 network and connections is showing it connected at 1Gbit but the actual transfer speed tops out around 150-200 Mbit or roughly 15-25MB/s (which is well under what the unit is advertised to perform at.)
I'll be swapping out the cable that came with it for a good CAT5E I got from monoprice but other than that I'm not sure what to try.

All three computers have gigabit nics, I have gigabit router and switch, my d-link 321 is set to gigabit, the only thing on my network that is not gigabit is my printer. I'm not getting gigabit transfer speed from my computer to dlink 321. I rarely do computer to computer transfers, so I dont know what the speed is of that. The best tranfer rate is from 7-12mb. I am also using cat 5e wires on all connections. What am I missing?

Oct 1, 2011i have 2 DIR 615 routers which both stop broadcasting SSIDS. Ive had only one connected at a time, thinking it was a bad router, but both behave the same way. Is this a known issue or something ? What happens is, after some time (it varies..sometimes 3hours..sometimes longer), the router stops broadcasting the ssid, and I can no longer connect any of my wireless devices to it. The hardwired connection does work (I have a server connected to it, and it appears to work).The only settings I have changed is my SSID name, and wpa2 password. I've set up one virtual server to port forward requests to the server. Thats it. Nothing complex or anything. And both routers behave the exact same way, meaing they stop broadcasting the SSID.

Dec 4, 2011I'm using a dlink network adapter (6 months old) on my pc, have always gotten an excellent signal. Main pc in house is hooked up to dir-615 router & works fine. I had some bsod's recently & decided to reformat xp. Loaded the driver for the adapter, got an excellent signal, but couldn't access the net. The signal shows 4 green bars for about 20 seconds, then all white bars for a few seconds, then back to green. It keeps dropping the signal over & over. The network card shows its working properly.
I did an ipconfig, and it says "media state disconnected" & shows no addresses. If the dlink adapter is faulty then i'm assuming it wouldn't work in the first place. I'm thinking its some setting not right in the pc. The reformat went fine, loaded all the drivers in the right order. I only have IE for a browser which i need to access the net with to load firefox & all other programs plus service pack 3 & other xp updates back on with.
When I loaded the driver for the dlink adapter, i used a different workgroup/name than the network name originally used to set up the dlink router if that means anything. I've read about resetting the winsock which i'm going to try, but I would think that wouldn't be it since i just reformatted the pc.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Internet Connection Stops Working
Mar 10, 2012I bought this router and ever since my internet connection will drop out for 5 minutes at a time then come back in. This happens on both wifi and the wired connection. The weird part about it is that if there is a program that maintains a constant connection, e.g. xbox live or an online MMO, they don't lose connection when every other device or even tabs within the same browser all lose connection.
BTW It's the REV_B with the 2.07 firmware.

Jun 20, 2011I bought a DIR-655 (F/W v. 2.00NA) about 6 months ago. It worked well until a couple of weeks ago. Then it started to stop broadcasting WIFI signal without apparent reason. When it did so, I could still connect to it and internet with wired connection, but the WIFI scan does not show my SSID. If I reboot it (either through the admin interface, or just disconnect and reconnect the power), I would be able to reconnect to WIFI, but then WIFI will stop working again in about 8-10 hours. I am rebooting this thing 2-3 times a days and it is very frustrating. Curiously, I borrowed a N300 router to try out

Oct 2, 2011I've been using my DCS-930L happily for the last month. Today, it suddenly stopped working. I haven't made any changes to my network or any configurations in about 2 weeks, during which the camera has worked fine locally as well as remotely. Now, if I unplug/plug it back in, the camera will immediately connect. However, after a period of time, it's no longer accessible, even from my local network. When I try to log-in to the camera or view it, it cannot be found or connected to. So it doesn't seem to be any of my configuration, but something that's intermittent or happens after awhile.

Nov 11, 2012There were 6 computers on the 2.4GHz band, and 2 on the 5GHz.Everytime the people on the 2.4GHz band would get disconnected for no reason, but this router should be able to handle that number easily. After lots of fiddling, like telling people to shut down their phones WiFi, I finally found the culprit:
N and G mixed mode
Even with only Wireless-N devices there would be problems. N-only mode worked well.That is unpractical for me as there are some devices here that are still on Wireless-G, like game consoles and some phones.
