D-link Dir-655 :: Stops Broadcasting Wifi Signal

Jun 20, 2011

I bought a DIR-655 (F/W v. 2.00NA) about 6 months ago. It worked well until a couple of weeks ago. Then it started to stop broadcasting WIFI signal without apparent reason. When it did so, I could still connect to it and internet with wired connection, but the WIFI scan does not show my SSID. If I reboot it (either through the admin interface, or just disconnect and reconnect the power), I would be able to reconnect to WIFI, but then WIFI will stop working again in about 8-10 hours. I am rebooting this thing 2-3 times a days and it is very frustrating. Curiously, I borrowed a N300 router to try out

D-Link DIR-615 :: Stops Broadcasting SSID

Oct 1, 2011

i have 2 DIR 615 routers which both stop broadcasting SSIDS. Ive had only one connected at a time, thinking it was a bad router, but both  behave the same way. Is this a known issue or something ? What happens is, after some time (it varies..sometimes 3hours..sometimes longer), the router stops broadcasting the ssid, and I can no longer connect any of my wireless devices to it. The hardwired connection does work (I have a server connected to it, and it appears to work). The only settings I have changed is my SSID name, and wpa2 password. I've set up one virtual server to port forward requests to the server. Thats it. Nothing complex or anything. And both routers behave the exact same way, meaing they stop broadcasting the SSID.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt400n / Wifi Stops Broadcasting At Random Times

There are also random times where the Wi-Fi stops broadcasting altogether. I have a computer connected via Ethernet and it does not lose connection during these times. All the computers are running Windows 7 and the Router is up to date on firmware.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Access Point Stops Broadcasting Wireless?

Dec 13, 2011

I have two DIR-655s. One is my main router, connected to my modem. The other, on the other side of the house, is set up as an access point. I followed this guide to set up my AP: [URL]

Both are are hard wired. I have both of them using the same SSID. Both are 802.11g only, have the same security mode, and key. The only wireless difference is the channel. One uses 6, while the other uses 11.

On initial setup, everything is fine, but after a few hours, the AP just seems to stop broadcasting a signal. I'm using "Wifi Analyzer" on Android to monitor it. When I look at the AP, the wifi indicator light is still on. If I log into it, change the channel, and press save on the "Wireless Settings" screen, it will broadcast for a few more hours before stopping again. The wired connect of this AP always seems to work (Xbox is hard wired to it).

AP Hardware Version: B1 / Firmware Version: 2.03NA

TP Link Router Not Broadcasting A Wireless Signal?

Mar 14, 2013

I'm using Windows 7 with a TP Link router and an RCA cable modem. I only have a laptop and I had it set up so I had wireless on it, and was able to get wireless on my smartphone as well. All of a sudden the wireless stopped working and now I can only connect to the internet with the router plugged in to my laptop. I just updated my wireless driver and have tried the 192.168.0.1 thing so many times and nothing seems to work. I also exchanged my router for a new one and that worked for about a week and then stopped working again. This happened once before and it didn't work for a couple days and then I woke up one morning and it worked again.

Stops Broadcasting The SSID Briefly And Won't Start Again Until It Reboots?

Sep 30, 2011

I have a linksys WRT54G that has been bugging out a lot. It stops broadcasting the SSID briefly and won't start again until it reboots. Annoying enough problem on it's own, but not my primary concern. My concern now is that when I tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest version (which I presume was causing the problems) the router now is essentiallyunresponsive. The upgrade was successful according to the control panel site, but ever since the required reboot as part of the upgrade process the router hasn't worked properly. 1) The power light blinks constantly rather than staying lit.2) When I plug directly into it sometimes I get access to local networks and other times I don't (limited connectivity). But I never get access to the internet if it's plugged into it as well.3) When I try to go to the control panel site (through the 192.168.1.1) the site wont loadGranted this router is old, but it was working fine other than dropping the broadcast every once in a while. It did need a firmware upgrade, but the upgrade seems to have been a bad choice

Tp-link Wr1043-nd Router Stops Taking Wifi Connections?

Sep 29, 2012

I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser. The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.

I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000 The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment. All that said: I need troubleshooting this router and it's configuration before I consider buying a more expensive replacement (and if I go this route, I might add a small switch as well to give me more than 4 LAN ports to work with). I am also considering flashing to DD-WRT before replacing as well to see if that makes a difference in reliability and uptime.

I have setup this situation using a netgear dsl modem and a netgear wireless router which if i remember i made a mac bridge, and it works great..am i wasting my time trying to get a TP-link talking to a cheap isp modem? i was reading an article somebody wrote that was doing the same thing yet the modem wasnt the same as mine, they said they got it working using WDS...and that the tp-link doesnt know about WDS and you need to use telnet to change settings on the tp-link looked a real hassle anyway.

D-link Dir-825 :: Increase Wifi Signal Strength With Software?

Apr 5, 2013

Even though I put high gain antennas on my routers which extended the range of good signal immensely, I wish to try to get even better signal strength also.   When using manual configuration mode on the router, I have set the WiFi power level to 100% (default level).  Is there a way to increase that level beyond 100% and "overdrive" the signal?  I tried to input a number >100% and that was not accepted.

I know this is possible if I go to dd-wrt, and possibly with open-wrt, which I prefer not to do for various reasons, not the least of which is that I have both a Rev. A1 and a Rev. B1 router (Rev. A1 is not supposed to support dd-wrt).  I also know that increasing the power will make the router run hotter.  I am willing to risk it as I monitor the temperature regularly.

Has anyone ever tried to do this or, have the people who want this just gone to dd-wrt?  From the dd-wrt forum it appears that the DIR-825 router in Rev. B1 is not very user friendly to dd-wrt.  After 3 years the code is still flaky.  I would prefer not to use it, if possible.

D-link Dir-601 :: Varying Degrees Of Success With Wifi Signal

Jan 6, 2012

I just installed a DIR-601 cascaded with a WiFi G Netgear router.  The D-Link is handling DHCP.  I am having varying degrees of success with the WiFi signal.  One XP laptop gets anything between 80Mbps and 150Mbps (can change while sitting in the same location), while another Win7 netbook does slightly worse.  My Son's MacBook Pro never seems to do any better than 72Mbps.

I dedicated the D-Link to 802.11N and only allow these 3 devices to connect to it as N devices.  All other WiFi devices are G and use the Netgear G router.  I am using WPA2-Personal/AES and Auto bandwidth (40 does not seem to be a choice).Didn't experience such performance fluctuations with the Netgear G router.

Tp-link 150mbps Wireless :: Use Tl-wr700n Router To Share Wifi Signal In Hotel

Dec 28, 2012

Region : Canada
Model : TL-WR700N
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : latest
ISP : various

What would seem to be an ideal way to share a hotel wifi signal with other devices, would be:

Laptop signs into hotel/resort wifi and completes sign-in page. Share wifi signal with TP router via an ethernet cable. TP router acts as hotspot for connection by other devices. This is the method this Apple based article suggests:

[URL]

I have tried this with Windows 7 using a bridge between the laptop wifi and lan adapters. But I must be doing something wrong.

The other option is to use ICS, but not sure then if the hotel's system would see additional devices. (we are limited to 4 where we stay, but exceed that when family visits!)

D-Link DIR-615 :: Why Is It Broadcasting 2 SSIDs

Nov 13, 2011

I have a DIR-615 Wireless N D-Link router.  Simple setup, comcast cable modem ---> router ---> wireless signal to house.  For some reason, kinda out of nowhere (can't recall precisely when it began doing this) the router is broadcasting 2 SSID's, one is my configured network, and another network named: D-Link_Wireless.  Whats strange thou, is that some devices detect the D-Link_Wireless SSID and others do not.  When I go into the router config, all I see is the one configured network, PanzerNet. I wouldn't care so much but I think it's causing some conflictions with my DNS address, making me have to constantly reset my router..

D-Link DIR-655 :: Not Broadcasting Wireless / Losing Internet Connection

Oct 25, 2011

I bought a DIR-655 about 8 months ago. I had no problems connecting to the internet for the first couple of months. Then I would get a random connection problem where I would reset my modem or the router and all would be fine for a while. Then about a month and a half ago it started getting worse and worse and about 3 weeks ago it got to a point that I was resetting the router or modem daily to get a initial connection to the internet. And that would last until the next day when we would try to access the internet. Ocassionally, if I had a good initial connection, I would get a random loss of the connections a minute or two after I started surfing the web. Initially a modem or router reset would clear this up too. This happening both over wireless and through the hard wired connection. So it doesn't matter how I am using the Router. AND, most recently resets may not even get me a solid connection to the internet. So, I have bypassed the router for now.

The router was set up with changes to only passwords, network name, a changed router IP address and not broadcasting the wireless it has worked fine. After the reset, I left the router IP address as the default but changed the above security settings. Nothing else was changed. I have never had any issues logging into the router menus through the default or my defined IP addresses.

In doing some troubleshooting, I performed a reset on the modem several times, none of which resolved the problem, I was still losing the connection. Then I bypassed the router and did a direct connection to the modem and all is good and I have not had a connection issue since. I even tried changing the Ethernet connection on the back of the home computer to a different computer port but that changed nothing. I am currently trying a different cable. I am using the standard connection scheme:Cable from outside to modem, modem to router via Ethernet into the proper router port, Router to static computer via Ethernet. And a laptop accesses through the wireless. All cables have been working fine and are home built CAT 5e cables

It is really frustrating and I am not sure where to start now. Currently, I am running without the router for internet but I need it for the wireless to a laptop in another room. I use Time Warner Cable and have a Atlantic Scientific DPC2100 cable modem.

Wifi Stops Working When Wired Network Plugged In?

Apr 22, 2012

On the basement level, and on level 2, I have in wall junction boxes where the Cat5E Ethernet wires come together. There are 6 lines that go from the level 2 box to 6 wall jacks on levels 2 and 3. There are also 6 lines that go from the basement box to 6 wall jacks in the basement and on level 1. There is also a Cat5E line running between the two boxes.I have wired all these plugs on both ends with T568B standard, and in each box they go into a patch panel. I have used a cable tester to test and make sure all these plugs are properly wired. I have also tested individual computers hardwired linked through to my router (without going through switches) and confirmed that they work that way, so I'm pretty sure I've wired it correctly.

At the second floor box, I have an AT&T 2Wire wifi router and modem, with AT&T Uverse service. I also have a monoprice Ethernet switch. In the basement box, I have another monoprice Ethernet switch (link to the type of switches I have is below). The switches are connected together via the Cat5E that runs between the boxes, and the second floor switch is connected to a free port on the back of the AT&T 2Wire Uverse wifi router. These wall plugs are not all currently used. In fact the problem I describe below occurs even if nothing is plugged into the wall plates. My problem is: when I hook up everything, so my wifi router is wired to the first switch, which is in turn wired to the 6 wall plugs upstairs as well as to the switch in the basement, and that basement switch is in turn wired to the 6 wall plates downstairs... at that point when I plug it in, my wifi stops working. Basically, whenever my router is plugged into this hard wired network, the wifi stops working. When I unplug the network, the wifi comes back (I usually reset it, not certain if it would come back just from waiting).

Interestingly, it doesn't necessarily stop working if most or all of the plugs are removed so the network is not connected (for example, if I just go through one plug instead of all of them)Does a network of wired Ethernet, even if not plugged into anything, cause some sort of a load or drain on the router that could make it stop working?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3500 No Connection Loss But Wifi Stops Working?

Mar 9, 2013

I've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.

Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.
