Voip Phone Stops Wifi Connections?

Feb 26, 2011

I have recently been experiencing a problem. This started to occur after I had gotten new internet service and a new router. I now have comcast, and a new NetGear router. I also have a VOIP phone connected to the router call "AllVoi". Now, whenever I use this phone, all connections on WiFi go down as I am using it. While, when I am using any ethernet connections dirctly from the router, it works fine. It becomes a large problem when you are watching a video or something from a laptop WiFi connection.

Tp-link Wr1043-nd Router Stops Taking Wifi Connections?

Sep 29, 2012

I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser. The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.

I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000 The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment. All that said: I need troubleshooting this router and it's configuration before I consider buying a more expensive replacement (and if I go this route, I might add a small switch as well to give me more than 4 LAN ports to work with). I am also considering flashing to DD-WRT before replacing as well to see if that makes a difference in reliability and uptime.

VOIP IP Phone Only Working Through ICS?

Feb 10, 2011

Recently at my company we have started using Polycom i335 IP Phones from 8x8 inc, the thing is that while trying to use it directly through a switch it does not register with the server and I get a "url call is disabled" msg on the LCD of the Polycom. On that same switch I am using an Aastra 6755i IP phone, it is working absolutely fine, although it is using the same technology and ports. Now if I connect my laptop via wireless or if I connect a PC through wire and use ICS to share the internet and connect the Polycom to the shared Ethernet port, the Polycom works fine! On the same network Vonage works fine as well. but this Polycom only and only works via ICS?

Cisco :: Calling From Analog To VoIP Phone?

Mar 14, 2013

Is it possible to connect an analog phone to an FXS port on a CME router and a VoIP phone to a switch connected to said router and have voice connectivity between the phones? Also, is it possible to connect an FXO port on that same CME to a RJ-11 wall jack to connect to the PSTN and be able to call that VoIP phone as well as the analog phone from my cellphone? I'm trying to tie as I read the CCNA Voice OCG.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N Stopped Working With VOIP Phone

Mar 1, 2013

I have the router for over two years, Present Firmware is V2.0.1.3, I have Polycom phone connected to the router using 8 x 8 VOIP service. The phone was working fine untill yesterday. 8 x 8 tech support suggested getting a different router. I have the same router at home and tried the same phone on my home router - it worked. So, the problem is not the phone but int he router. I tried to call Cisco tech support but found out that the warranty support expired and I need to buy a support plan. Called to buy the support, and gave up after an hours on hold. Left  message.

A broadband cable modem is connected to the input of a new BEFSR41 4-port router.  The router feeds 4 computers (a newer "primary" PC, and 3 secondary "old goats" that I use to print online grocery coupons).  The 4 PC's are networked to share a common printer, a single directory on the "primary" PC, and using a 4-port KVM switch - I switch a single keyboard and mouse to whichever PC that I am using at the time.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Configuring Port To 6901 VoIP Phone?

May 2, 2013

We've been configuring our swtichports as follows for our 7945 and 6941 type VoIP Phones, but are having problems witht the 6901.

VLANS
Vlan 900 is a VoIP VLAN
Vlan 999 is a NULL VLAN and is shut down:
 interface g0/1
switchport access vlan 999    {VLAN to direct data traffic to the bit bucket becuase a PC shouldn't be connected to this port}
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 900
mls qos trust cos
spanning-tree portfast

The 6901 phone doesn't support multiple VLANs, so our configuration above does not work unless vlan 999 is turned on (not good security wise).  We got the phones to work also by removing vlan 999 and switchport mode access.

switchport voice vlan 900
mls qos trust cos
spanning-tree portfast

solution that provides the discarding of data for the access VLAN, while supporting the VoIP vlan for this phone?

Internet Stops Recognizing New Connections After Increased Usage?

Feb 7, 2013

A short while ago, I had my data backed up onto a new HDD, as the old one was showing signs of failing soon. When I got the computer back, I noticed a problem where I need to constantly hit "Diagnose" in the Wireless Network Connection Status to get my internet working again. When it gets into this stage, several websites continue to work, I don't lose my connection to them. Some websites I can still connect to without a problem. However, many websites, even google, keep giving an error that the host could not be found. It appears that it stops accepting new connections until I reset the wireless card. My Laptop (using wireless) and other PC (Connected directly) have had no issues at all with our wireless router.

Cisco VPN :: Stops Forwarding Traffic On Subsequent Connections 861

Mar 23, 2011

I have a very strange problem on 2 (independent) Cisco 861 routers in different places. They are both configured as easyVPN servers. One uses UDP, the other TCP. VPN clients connect by using Cisco VPN client software. This cannot be changed because the customer expects it this way. Both routers have the same problem:

* the first VPN connection after a reset works fine. Traffic passes through and it is perfectly usable. I can ping the internal network interface on the router side from the client without problems.

* the second connection (and all subsequent ones from different client machines etc.) connects fine, no errors on the client whatsoever (not sure I evaluated all possible debug output on the "server" side). However,  no traffic passes through. Pings do not come back from the 861 anymore through the VPN tunnel.I already enabled ICMP debugging and saw that pings are actually answered by the 861, but do not reach the client. The same seems to happen to any and all other packets as well.

* If I restart the 861 the very same thing happens: first VPN connection works fine. You disconnect, try another connection from the very same client computer, and it does not work anymore until the next router reset.I append the configuration for sake of completeness. confidential parts are represented by XXX. Some ACLs are not in use right now; I used them for testing. [code]

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Stops Accepting Connections

Nov 21, 2012

A client has an ASA 5505 with a base license.  The version information and configuration is attached.  In 8 hours, sometimes less and infrequently more, it becomes inaccessible.  All connections are dropped and the only way to access the device is through a console connection.  The WAN interface (VLAN 3) is connected to Verizon FIOS.  The interface was set to 100 MBps and full duplex, but I just changed it to auto on both the speed and duplex to see what would happen.  The LAN interface (VLAN 1) is also set to 100 MBps and full duplex  It has not been changed.

The last time it happened logging was running, but nothing in the log indicated a problem.  In fact, the last log entry was a couple of hours before the lockup (there's little or no traffic on the ASA while the problem is being diagnosed).

Cisco Wireless :: AP541N Device Stops Accepting Client Connections

Feb 8, 2010

We have an AP541N that has been deployed to replace a Cisco 1200 AP (B/G radio).  The 1200 functioned perfectly in our environment.  The new AP541N on the other hand seems to work fine right after a reboot but immediately starts to degrade service.  Over a short period of time, the devices bandwidth degrades to the point were the wireless network is not usable.  This happens with just one device connected.  Eventually, the device stops accepting client connections. We are unable to get any relevant logging out of the device to diagnose the problem.

D-link Dir-655 :: Stops Broadcasting Wifi Signal

Jun 20, 2011

When it did so, I could still connect to it and internet with wired connection, but the WIFI scan does not show my SSID. If I reboot it (either through the admin interface, or just disconnect and reconnect the power), I would be able to reconnect to WIFI, but then WIFI will stop working again in about 8-10 hours. I am rebooting this thing 2-3 times a days and it is very frustrating. Curiously, I borrowed a N300 router to try out

Wifi Stops Working When Wired Network Plugged In?

Apr 22, 2012

On the basement level, and on level 2, I have in wall junction boxes where the Cat5E Ethernet wires come together. There are 6 lines that go from the level 2 box to 6 wall jacks on levels 2 and 3. There are also 6 lines that go from the basement box to 6 wall jacks in the basement and on level 1. There is also a Cat5E line running between the two boxes.I have wired all these plugs on both ends with T568B standard, and in each box they go into a patch panel. I have used a cable tester to test and make sure all these plugs are properly wired. I have also tested individual computers hardwired linked through to my router (without going through switches) and confirmed that they work that way, so I'm pretty sure I've wired it correctly.

At the second floor box, I have an AT&T 2Wire wifi router and modem, with AT&T Uverse service. I also have a monoprice Ethernet switch. In the basement box, I have another monoprice Ethernet switch (link to the type of switches I have is below). The switches are connected together via the Cat5E that runs between the boxes, and the second floor switch is connected to a free port on the back of the AT&T 2Wire Uverse wifi router. These wall plugs are not all currently used. In fact the problem I describe below occurs even if nothing is plugged into the wall plates. My problem is: when I hook up everything, so my wifi router is wired to the first switch, which is in turn wired to the 6 wall plugs upstairs as well as to the switch in the basement, and that basement switch is in turn wired to the 6 wall plates downstairs... at that point when I plug it in, my wifi stops working. Basically, whenever my router is plugged into this hard wired network, the wifi stops working. When I unplug the network, the wifi comes back (I usually reset it, not certain if it would come back just from waiting).

Interestingly, it doesn't necessarily stop working if most or all of the plugs are removed so the network is not connected (for example, if I just go through one plug instead of all of them)Does a network of wired Ethernet, even if not plugged into anything, cause some sort of a load or drain on the router that could make it stop working?

When my desktop is online via Ethernet, wi-fi stops working. A signal is detected, but is very unstable and often doesn't connect to the Internet at all, on any device. As soon as the desktop is no longer trying to access the Internet, all other wireless connections work without a problem. Base computer is Windows Vista Home Premium with all latest updates installed.Other connections include 2 laptops (one Win7, one PCLinuxOS), 2 Kindle Fire, Wii, iPod Touch, four cell phones, and Sony Media Player. They're never running all at once. But any number of them can run fine-- as long as the desktop isn't online at the time.
