View 1 RepliesTrying to get an HTPC to connect to mobile phone to use phone as a remote. The pc is XP sp3, phone is HTC EVO 3d running smart pc remote lite, wireless adapter is an Airlink AWLL6075. I think the problem throwing me off is all of the guides I'm reading assume that I am sharing an internet connection. This PC is not internet connected. What I want it to do is broadcast its own Wi-Fi connection so that my phone can connect to it and be used as a remote control. How do I set this up?

All these devices (except the Nintendo devices[only because we haven't tried it out]) will connect and perform on wifi elsewhere. We have a d-link router?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have CAT5e running through out the house. They all start at a 4x10 telecom punchdown module and end with non standard jacks. When I unscrewed a few wallplates, only the orange, white orange, blue, white blue are connected. The greens and browns are snipped off. I don't much care if I have a telephone or not (my cell phone is my only phone), I'm thinking of pulling all the cat5e off the module and attaching RJ45 plugs on them. Seeing that only the wires I mentioned above are connected at the wallplates, do I need to terminate all the wires on the RJ45 plug or only those four?I'm not planning on going up to a 1gb connection right now because I only have 20mb service anyways. Also, will I still received data only using those four wires?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've seen loads of people connecting 2 routers, but they're usually connecting the routers together (as in connecting 1 router to another, which is connected to both the internet and the PC) to boost the performance of the current router, or connect more devices. What seems to be hard to find is what I want to do.
The situation is, I have a Sky Broadband Router (a specialised Sagem router from Sky Broadband ISP) in the back room of my house, and it's wireless range can't reach the front room of my house (where I want to use my wireless laptop). Moving the router is not an option, so I purchased a Belkin 300N Router and plugged it into another phone socket at the front of the house (the phone line was originally just at the front of the house, but was extended to another socket at the back of the house, the one the Sky Router is connected to).
The router is working, but seems to be clashing with the Sky Router, it can't connect unless I turn the Sky Router off, and the Sky router always overrides the Belkin one. I've seen some posts about syncing routers when they're connected, but these aren't, they're just on the same phone line, how to stop them clashing?
I got told if I changed the IP address of the Belkin Router to one similar to the Sky one, and disabled DCHP it would work, but this just messed the Belkin Router up and I had to give it a factory reset!

It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great. There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again

I am trying to connect to my office wifi which uses a proxy server. Scenario 1: I am using Samsung Bada (wave 1), connected to the internet successfully and also any applications that require an internet connection including Samsung's app store. While, connecting via open networks like home wifi and other friends' wifi also worked without any issue. Scenario 2: Now I also have an android based Galaxy pocket: even after entering all the required proxy setting as mentioned above, I can access websites via browser but cannot access samsung's app store, google's play store, skype, sipdroid etc. I know it is nothing to do with the network administration as I am still accessing via my samsung wave but not via android. Is there anything like a network profile I need to assign for these applications?
