I would like to connect to the internet on my home wireless network using my cell phone - allowing me to drop my cell phone internet service charges. I'd keep the cell phone agreement for placing and receiving calls, but be able to connect to the internet at home using the home wireless network.

I use a USB modem to connect to the internet. I need to set up a wi-fi connection between the laptop and the phone so that i can use the internet connection using the phone.
Any way to simply have someone phone my computer such that they're on a cell and I'm on my mic? It seems like such a simple thing for this day and age, but my attempt at a Google search is resulting in things that aren't exactly what I mean, such as where I can phone them first, but would have to incur charges, as if I'm using a cell myself instead of a mic. Any way, a site, or a software, to make such a setup work? To be clear, someone using a cell phone--not a mic and not a computer--would somehow "phone" my computer/a software I have, and I would hear them through the speakers as usual and communicate by my PC mic--not a phone and not a cell.

My brother owns a Moto Razr, dad has HTC Desire C, friends have iPhone, S3, Nexus 3... all do not have any problems with our wifi connection anywhere in our house. In addition, I'm able to bring my 8 year old laptop across the street and use our wifi on our neighbour's lawn.
I have new cell phones, an Iphone 3Gs and a Motorola Atrix, and cannot get either of them to connect to the DIR-655. Both of the phones recognize the wi-fi signal but I cannot get either of them to hook up. Before I go changing passwords and such, is there anything I am missing or need to do differently?

Instead of using the router, I want the AE-2500 to access my HotSpot wifi on my cell phone. I go through the AE2500 installation and Device Manager shows it is installed properly. I have used this laptop at work and at hotels for a 54 MbPS connection. I set up the Linksys at home. It sees the network and will tell me that it is connection at 54 MbPS. Then it quickly goes down to 11 then 5.5 then 2. Eventually it runs so slow that I time out of the security portal at work because its so slow. Occasionally it even loses the network and has to find it again. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located. I have hung up all cordless phones and turned off my cell phone.

When I am out, away from my network, the App can't connect to the cam, tells me to check my network settings. We are able to connect to one or the other and can print when connected to the home network or we can surf when connected to the Pantech. When I unscrewed a few wallplates, only the orange, white orange, blue, white blue are connected. The greens and browns are snipped off. I don't much care if I have a telephone or not (my cell phone is my only phone), I'm thinking of pulling all the cat5e off the module and attaching RJ45 plugs on them. Seeing that only the wires I mentioned above are connected at the wallplates, do I need to terminate all the wires on the RJ45 plug or only those four?I'm not planning on going up to a 1gb connection right now because I only have 20mb service anyways. Also, will I still received data only using those four wires?

I was able to block access to Facebook from the browser, but this person can still access Facebook via the mobile app. I have already placed m.facebook.com and facebook.com on the "no-go list" on my router, which like I said, specificaly blocks the browser on phone, but not the app. I can't seem to figure out how the app accesses the site and how to block it.I've already done some Googling, and read that port 9339 plays some kind of role. I don't know how true this is, but I tried it anyway, to no avail. I am not to savvy with ports so it could be my error.And before it is mentioned, this person cannot access cell data, as the phone does not get service, only WiFi.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn my house we have ADSL2 Bigpond broadband internet and a Thomson TG782T modem/router and its been in my brother's room for a while and lately I've really been noticing the slow internet so I moved the modem/router to the kitchen as I figured it would give everyone an equal connection.The modem has a cable that goes to a DSL splitter and there is also a cable that goes from the phone to the splitter. On the other side of the splitter is a cable that goes to the wall socket. The cables that go from the phone and modem/router are short and the one from the splitter to the wall socket is quite long. The modem/router and the phone are right next to each other.I was playing COD on the Xbox and I noticed that at the time my Mum was on the phone I got the disconnect message. The connection kept settling but then a second later disconnecting and this happened frequently until she hung up the phone.
