I own a Netgear Router and the wireless capabilities are not working. I have it connected to a comcast arris Modem. When i have and ethernet cable connecting my laptop, router, and modem, i get a connecting. but im not sure how to get the wireless running. I have used this router before ith my old internet provider. Ive tried messing around with the router settings for a while but i cant get it working.

I used my HP Pavilion as the computer to run the setup disk and the wireless wizard to link the new router to the modem. I'm trying to set up a wireless bridge as part of my network and I'm having some issues.I'm only assuming I need a wireless bridge setup based on what I've gathered in forums such as this, but perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree.Internet Modem --hard wire-- Belkin F9K1102 Router {{{fancy wifi waves}}} TP-Link TL-WR340G Router --hard wire-- CPU..I already have a working wireless/wired router (Belkin) that I use to get online. I have a CPU that can only connect to my network via hard wire in another room. Running a hard wire from my Belkin router to the CPU is NOT an option. Therefore, I would like to use my TP-Link router (which has built in WDS wireless bridge capability) as a wireless bridge and have it connect to my Belkin router and thereby the network and the internet via wifi. I will then connect my CPU to the TP-Link router via hard wire.
I've tested both routers directly and independently connected to the modem and they both work fine. The issue I have is only in trying to get the bridge between them to work. I've followed various tutorials (TP-Link website, YouTube videos, site like this one, etc.) to no avail.I know that my Belkin router does not specifically have wireless bridge capabilities, but I'm not sure if BOTH routers having this capability is necessary for a wireless bridge to work or not.I also have multiple screen shots of the router configuration settings for both routers which can be provided if need be.
[CODE]My router stopped working when I tried to connect my new Samsung Smart TV to the wireless network by using the menu on the tv. I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

However several days passed and I started to notice the speed was decreasing; because I have HughesNet (I hate it) I thought this was the ISP's fault and called them and they said my speed had not gone down. During the day, the signal is fine and is at full bars and the speeds are OK. During the evening/night hours the connection becomes faulty and the laptop will disconnect from the network altogether. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the router, the speed is OK also. I have taken the security off the connection to see if it will make any difference; it doesn't. I don't know if I need to buy a new router or what. I know my way around computers and routers (not entirely though) and I cannot figure it out. I have 2 laptops with Windows Vista both with home Premium.

Just finally updated my ancient belkin modem to a Netgear D3600WiFi modem router which works really well. However. I have a old G5 Mac without wireless so have always connected through my old belkin modem with Powerline adapters over my house wiring circuit:confused. Unfortunately the powerline adapters no longer work although both lights are flickering on the units. Netgear say they should work.

All of the lights where active and it seemed everything was in order.Because the power cord was in the way I moved it and plugged it into a different powerpoint. From then onwards my router has not been working. Only three of seven lights are active (green).
I have tried unplugging and replugging all network cords. I have also turned it on and back off, reset the router and run the initial installation program thrice.What should I do now? View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a higrade VA250D laptop, I have just connected a wireless adapter to my main pc, but when i try to connect the laptop to the wireless connection i get the message that "the wireless adapter is turned off. turn the wireless connection on by means of the switch usually found on the side or front of the unit or by means of the function keys". I do not have a switch on anywhere of the outside of the laptop and i am unable to find a function key to turn it on. How to switch the wireless capabilities on. I have checked on the device manager and it has a green tick and says that the device is working properly.

It will pick up the signal intermittently but produce painfully slow internet and then promptly lose the signal all together. I have had the Netgear 3300 Dual Band for three years. Everytime I wanted to access using my laptop, I had to choose between 2.4G and 5G connection. For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.

I was going to reconfigure it but the Netgear Router was outdated that their reconfiguring URL no longer existed. So I went out and got a *NEW* Netgear Router. All of my devices connect fine to it except for the desktop that is using an external Linksys wireless adapter (WUSB54AG).The desktop is running Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3.The latest driver for the adapter has been installed (3.0.18.0).I am able to connect if security on the router is turned OFF.The router has 3 security options:
1) WPA-PSK (TKIP)
2) WPA2-PSK (AES)
3) WPA-PSk (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)
My understanding (from Linksys tech support) is that the device SHOULD be able to connect using WPA-PSK (TKIP). My Linksys Monitor indicates that the device is connected to the access point but not the internet (when I used WPA-PSK (TKIP). The IP address that is assigned is 169.254.3.129 and not the expected 192.168.1.x.When I turn security OFF on the router, the device can connect and I am assigned a "good" IP address (192.168.1.x).

I'm currently looking at the slew of firewall options out on the market. I have the task of recommending one for a client that has the most functionality for a reasonable cost (preferably no more than $800). I typically would go with the ASA 5505 w/base lic. I have been using ASA devices for some years now and they have been great. But, as with the ever changing internet and security threats, would I be ok in going with the ASA? I'll admit I'm not knowledgeable in all the capabilities of the ASA. Is it considered a "Nex-Gen" firewall? Where is the ASA ranked in comparison to the other options like SonicWall, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.? I've worked with SonicWall and Juniper, but did not like them. It has been sometime though, so maybe they have gotten better.
With having layer 7 filtering and IDS/IPS capabilities, one feature I will need is VLAN capabilities and ability to provide separate DHCP service for each VLAN (ASA can do this). I will be setting up a guest, internet only, network. VLAN trunking would be nice (ASA can do this with security plus lic, expensive though). In addition, having solid VPN capabilities (client and site-to-site). Good product support and documentation is a must too.
Before I decide to purchase the ASA5510 as our firewall solution I'd like to clear up some confusion I have regarding its expansion capabilities. According to the Cisco website, the ASA5510 supports 1x SSM expansion slot. Intrusion prevention (IPS) is supported via the AIP SSM. Content Security (anti-virus/spyware, file blocking) is supported via the CSC SSM.
One would assume that only one of these expansions can be enabled at time since it is clearly stated that the ASA5510 supports 1x SSM expansion (AIP SSM or CSC SSM). However, the Cisco representatives I've spoken with on the phone claim I can concurrently run both the AIP SSM and CSC SSM in a single ASA5510.
Also, I am debating if the ASA5510 is overkill for our network infrastructure and perhaps we should be going with the ASA5505. Essentially, we have a large network of users and we'd like to firewall three machines from the users such that only certain users (15 users) are allowed to access them. Are there any other compelling arguments to use the ASA5510 instead of the ASA5505 aside from the fact that ASA5505 does not support content security?
I just installed DD-WRT, version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/18/12) std, in a Netgear router model # WNR-2000V3 and so far everything is running good except for the LAN ports which are not working. I don't know what settings I have to change to get it working and I tried a lot of options from the DD-WRT site. I want this router to be an access point but it seems like I can't use the LAN ports at all whatsoever. Could it be that this firmware is no good? If so, is there a way to revert back to the factory NetGear firmware?

I turned on my computer one day and it gave me a error saying the card was not inserted. I powered the computer off/on a couple times, while trying different things, and it suddenly worked. The next day, it had the same issue again.
I tried reinstalling the card but it still had the same issue. I bought a new Netgear WN311B network card, same issue.
I plugged in a borrowed Linksys card, worked like a charm.
One thing I noticed was when I reinstalled the netgear card, it was numbered at the end of the in the device manager; Netgear #1, netgear #2, etc.. everytime I reinstalled it, the number would go up.
Can I have two wireless networks running in the house? Does a low internet speed affects my home network sharing capabilities? Can I have one network with internet and the other one just intranet.
