i am using mtnl broadband and modem is sam300ax...internet is connet properly..now i want to conect netgear wireless router(wgr61 v9) sothat i can connect internet on another two pcs.i will attach wifi Dlink adptors in another two pcs..i donot how do this? anybody give me step by step process..

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?
I pressed the reset button on my netgear router (WGR614 v7) and now the wireless light will not go on and i can't connect to it because I don't have a ethernet cable.

However several days passed and I started to notice the speed was decreasing; because I have HughesNet (I hate it) I thought this was the ISP's fault and called them and they said my speed had not gone down. During the day, the signal is fine and is at full bars and the speeds are OK. During the evening/night hours the connection becomes faulty and the laptop will disconnect from the network altogether. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the router, the speed is OK also. I have taken the security off the connection to see if it will make any difference; it doesn't. I don't know if I need to buy a new router or what. I know my way around computers and routers (not entirely though) and I cannot figure it out. I have 2 laptops with Windows Vista both with home Premium.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed DD-WRT, version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/18/12) std, in a Netgear router model # WNR-2000V3 and so far everything is running good except for the LAN ports which are not working. I don't know what settings I have to change to get it working and I tried a lot of options from the DD-WRT site. I want this router to be an access point but it seems like I can't use the LAN ports at all whatsoever. Could it be that this firmware is no good? If so, is there a way to revert back to the factory NetGear firmware?

I turned on my computer one day and it gave me a error saying the card was not inserted. I powered the computer off/on a couple times, while trying different things, and it suddenly worked. The next day, it had the same issue again.
I tried reinstalling the card but it still had the same issue. I bought a new Netgear WN311B network card, same issue.
I plugged in a borrowed Linksys card, worked like a charm.
One thing I noticed was when I reinstalled the netgear card, it was numbered at the end of the in the device manager; Netgear #1, netgear #2, etc.. everytime I reinstalled it, the number would go up.
a few days ago my router was not working for wireless out of no where and its still not working. i only get internet on my main computer that its connected too. not my laptop ipod or tablet

I'm trying to set up a Minecraft server so I can appear to be a hero to my 8 year old son. I have to forward a port to 25565 adn I've followed all the instructions on how to do this on my netgear DGND3700v2. I've also turned off my Windows 7 firewall, but when I go to a test website, I still get a message saying the port is closed. I don't have a static IP address, is this absolutely critical or does it just mean that the boys will have to log on to a new IP address each time they want to play?

When i have and ethernet cable connecting my laptop, router, and modem, i get a connecting. but im not sure how to get the wireless running. View 1 Replies View RelatedI picked up a second hand NETGEAR FS750T switch today for very little as the previous owner said it had stopped working.
After powering it up, there is a small noise for about three seconds. All the lights above the 10/100 ports are solid green and I can't access the web interface when connecting it up to my computer.
What could the problem be? I've heard others with different switch models reporting that all the lights are flashing and replacing the capacitors fixes them.
I've tried the reset and factory reset buttons. The reset just puts all the lights off for the duration of holding it and the factory reset appears to do nothing.
edit: when I turn it on, all the lights and the sound starts immediately. After two seconds, the lights go out. After three seconds, the sound stops and the lights return.
Just finally updated my ancient belkin modem to a Netgear D3600WiFi modem router which works really well. However. I have a old G5 Mac without wireless so have always connected through my old belkin modem with Powerline adapters over my house wiring circuit:confused. Unfortunately the powerline adapters no longer work although both lights are flickering on the units. Netgear say they should work.

I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

When I use a port tester it still says "Port 5060 is closed"I have also turned off Windows Firewall. What else could be blocking these ports?

My internet went down temporarily last week and ever since my computer has not been able to maintain a connection. It will pick up the signal intermittently but produce painfully slow internet and then promptly lose the signal all together. The wireless connection is working perfectly on laptops and smart phones, even when in the same position from the router as my PC.

I just moved into a house that has pre-wired CAT5 (Maybe 6) in every room. Its all connected by two Netgear FS116 switches in the attic.
According to my landlord I should just have to plug in my modem into any ethernet port, and internet will be present at every jack.
I've plugged into several of wall jacks and none of them seem to work. Sometimes for a random reason they will work, but the connectivity is so poor that I can't even load webpages. Connecting direct to the modem I receive excellent download speeds.
I am not 100% the cabling is correct, and don't know of any way to test if they are good besides plugging in my modem, and then seeing if my computer gets connectivity.
Is there some easy way I can troubleshoot this? Am I missing something major that I need to accomplish? Like go into the switch and change settings?
Recently got a Netgear N600 WNDR3400 router. It works fine, aside from that fact that servers either have - or 999 for a ping.
I have not had this issue with my older Linksys router. What do I have to do to set up this Netgear? How to get BFBC2 to work properly on this router?

I just bought a new netgear n600 now it seems all my devises are slower. 2 Xbox 360s 2 laptops. 1 pc also on my dell d610 now when i try to watch any video the internet stops working. we use google chrome. I am pretty sure its the router. we use mediacom for internet and get at least 20 mbs. oh and the slowest xbox is run with a ethernet cable so its not a wifi issue with that one.

I have my internet hooked up to a DSL Modem and a Wireless Router. But I had configured the Wireless Router wrong that I couldn't connect to it using a WiFi. I was going to reconfigure it but the Netgear Router was outdated that their reconfiguring URL no longer existed. So I went out and got a *NEW* Netgear Router. I am thinking i need to download the drivers to a disk drive and then transfer them. Another possibility is, i somehow have a rogue virus on my computer ( probably julia who ruins everything )anyways it's called pc optimizer pro. All of my devices connect fine to it except for the desktop that is using an external Linksys wireless adapter (WUSB54AG).The desktop is running Windows XP (Home Edition) SP3.The latest driver for the adapter has been installed (3.0.18.0).I am able to connect if security on the router is turned OFF.The router has 3 security options:
1) WPA-PSK (TKIP)
2) WPA2-PSK (AES)
3) WPA-PSk (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)
My understanding (from Linksys tech support) is that the device SHOULD be able to connect using WPA-PSK (TKIP). My Linksys Monitor indicates that the device is connected to the access point but not the internet (when I used WPA-PSK (TKIP). The IP address that is assigned is 169.254.3.129 and not the expected 192.168.1.x.When I turn security OFF on the router, the device can connect and I am assigned a "good" IP address (192.168.1.x).

I have had the Netgear 3300 Dual Band for three years. Everytime I wanted to access using my laptop, I had to choose between 2.4G and 5G connection. For about a month now, the 5G does not show up. It doesn't show up as a network to select no matter what device I use. I have reset the router and updated the firmware. Both connection lights are blinking. I recently purchased and IPhone 4 and still I do not have the option of selecting 5G.
