I have a WRT120 wireless router that works fine, but the wired connection has failed. I have restarted the modem, router and the computer and still doesn't recognize the wired connection.
View 9 RepliesMy newly installed E1200 only sends speeds of about 16 mbps wireless, but sends the ful 60 mpbs when wired. What is going on. Firmware is up to date. Changing the channels didn't do anything. Is there a way to figure out if the problem is with my laptops wireless card.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are 2 XBox's in the house and 1 is downstairs wired into the WRT320N Router. The upstairs XBox is running wirelessly through the router. Each of the XBox's work fine playing Modern Warfare 3, when only one is playing, but if both of us are playing, the wired connection works great, while the wireless connection is really slow and laggy. Again, the wireless XBox runs fine as long as the wired XBox isn't also playing MW3.

Nook connects seamlessly with every other network I've tried. Had my Bro-in-law over with his Anfroid based mobile devices and they won't connect either. We currently are running 4 boxes (2 @ desktop and laptop) off this router with no problems.As near as I can figure the latest firmware update (2007) can't handle the Android OS protocol and while they recognize each other they won't speak or play nice.Any options y'all know of short of replacing the router with a shiny new one ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
am having speed issues on the wireless side of my WRT54GL v1.1 router.When I hook up a laptop to the wired port, am getting roughly 5.4mps down when wired, but only 1.2mpbs down on wireless. I am tried doing a factory restore. I have made sure that no QoS is in place. I have tried multiple devices to make sure it is not something on the device side causing this problem, but all the devices perform just as poorly on wireless but as well on wired.

Wife's Mac laptop wireless, same speed. What is going on? I updated the firmware, tried altering some settings based on other entries here suggested (WPA-personal, channel to "6") but no effect.

No internet output from WRT54G wired or wireless, but wireless network is recognized by computer, just no internet. I did a reset and installed the latest firmware, then I ran thru the setup CD that came withe the router, and the internet test said no internet connection was available. Cables are fine, connector innards look clean.

All wired computers connections (total of 4) downwload speed ranging from 8 Mbps to 13 Mbps.
All wireless computer connections download speed stable at 49 Mbps.
get a new router. but lets give it a try. I read many many post on how to optimize the speed of the router but none worked so far.I got a great wired Internet connexion hitting between 45 to 60 Mbps[URL] the wifi is crazy slow on Iphone, Macbook pro and iPad staying between 3 to 8 Mbps....
I tried to change all of the specs, did the firmware update. is there a perfect configuration with the new firmware ?
I've got a 2 month old e3000 with the latest firmware. (1.04 i believe) I have run speedtests from wired and wireless machines on my network. All of the wired connections show a speed of around 15Mps (which is consistent with my providers guaranteed speed) but when I test any of the wireless connections I get somewhere between 3 and 7 Mps. I get the same degradation in speed when I stand directly next to the e3000.
Other then SSID and Passphrases I have everything set to the default settings. I have rebooted multiple times with no change. The e3000 is mounted on a 2x4 with several feet of clearance all around and is also located in the coolest part of the house. I am using Speedtest.Net for all the tests.
In the next month or so I plan to replace my old desktop PC. It is currently connected to a Linsys E3200 wireless router. I have many other wireless devices also running off the E3200, but my PC is the only wired device connected to it. When I replace the wired PC do I simply switch the new one in with the existing ethernet connection (I'm sure it is not that simple) or do I have to start over again recreating my entire network..security etc.. ? If so what is the process to start over ? Do I have to reset something on the router, reload cisco connect, create a new network name?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing a strange, repeatable behavior with my Linksys E1000. I have several wireless and wired devices connected to my E1000:
Wired: TivoHD, Sony BluRay Player, Sony TV, Windows XP Wireless: Lenovo Laptop (Windows 7), HP Laptop (Windows 7), 3 iPods, 2 iPhones
When I try to copy large files (~ 4GB) from my (wired) Windows XP box to either of my (wireless) laptops, the Linksys drops my WiFi network -- but the wired connections continue to work (including internet access). Copying the same/similar file from a WiFi device to a wired device appears to work correctly, as does copying from WiFi to WiFi.
To be clear, my WiFi network "disappears" -- it is no longer listed as an available network (as opposed to just dropping internet connectivity for WiFi). Unplugging the router and plugging it back in brings my WiFi network back up.
I have been able to repeat this issue with multiple files over the course of several weeks, and it happens about 75% of the time (i.e., I am occassionally able to complete a file copy from wired LAN to WiFi).
A little bit of background: I resurrected an old Windows XP box and am using it for shared network storage. I copied about 400 GB of files from my laptops to the XP box (WiFi to wired) with no issues at all. Pulling the same files back from XP to my laptops (wired to WiFi) has been causing the issue described above.
My computer not working probably with a wired connection.I can ping to the problem sites with absolutely no issues.

I can connect wirelessly but I need to connect wired as well. My IP when I am only using a wire starts as 169..I know this typically means there is a problem with my router, however, due to the fact that my laptop can use the wire router perfectly fine but my computer doesn't I am at a loss. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a new laptop (less than a week ago) and since purchase I have had the same recurring problem. Coincidentally, my wireless router is brand new also, and so it makes the situation even more difficult to eradicate. My laptop connects to the router wirelessly without a hitch, however, every five minutes or so, a small yellow exclaimation mark appears alongside the 'connection symbol' and it says there is either 'No Internet Access', or 'No Network Access', despite the fact it is connected to the wireless and has a full strength connection. However, my brother's laptop connects and surfs the web seamlessly, as well as the family desktop PC and various mobile devices. I am reluctant to return the laptop back to the store?

As soon as i modify my wireless to be unsecured, I looy ability to usse me the internet on all wired ports as well as all wireless. From the routers point of view it still has a good solid internet connection. Passes traceroute, but wont allow any wired or wireless connections on the internet. I'm trying to get a Linksys WRE54G v1 to work with this so my parents can have internet once more. If i manualy remove the security to allow the one touch Auto configuration button to work i loose my ability to surf until i run the Cisco Connection software to turn back on the passwords.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm capped out at 12 mbps service through Mediacom. My PC is directly wired to the WRT120N. I consistently test in the 11 mbps range.
I have a very unusual issue though.
I can connect my iphone and Xbox wirelessly through my router with no issues on their side. However, any time I do so, it kills my wired connection on my PC. I'm not doing huge downloads or P2P or anything like that. In fact, the speed drops immediately on my PC the moment I connect my phone to the wireless network regardless of what i'm doing on the phone (checking email or loading a webpage).
Nothing seems to be able to connect to my wireless network. It seems to have occurred after I installed a new copy of windows 7 onto my sister's desktop. A message appeared saying we have the same ip address. I've tried renewing our ip address on both desktop but it won't give us new ip address for some reason.

Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E1550 Wireless Router that is fast as can be on the wired connection, getting 30mbs from the cable modem connection. If I switch to using wireless on the same PC, the max connection speed I'll get is 2mbs. I've changed all sorts of settings trying to get this working right, and it still stays at 2mbs.As an additional note, this router was previously working fine at 30mbs on wireless as well, then out of nowhere this weekend, it started running at 2mbs. I went and purchased another of the same model and it is doing the same thing as well.
What is the secret to having this run at it's correct speed, not this slow 2mbs that it is now? I have configured this the same as every other Linksys router I've had in the past, and it is running horribly slow..I'm on the newest firmware as well, have already verified that. The old router was updated to newest firmware as testing to resolve this, and the new router came with it installed already.
I have the Dlink DIR-655, Rev-A, HW 1.35NA Wireless Router Before you ask, I have reset the router to factory defaults, and reinstalled the latest firmware twice, most recently after trying everything else I could think of.I have Cable internet, ALWAYS using wireless, NEVER using wired except for the router installs, which worked just fine until I switched from my old D-Link router to this 655 one a few weeks ago.Now, very frequently, I will open ANY webpage, and the internet will lag, 5, sometimes 10 or 15 seconds and then suddenly it will work properly for a while... only to happen again a little while later - completely randomly it seems.I wired the router to the computer to check to see if the lagging still happened, and everything was fine.I am using a 1-year old Dell laptop, using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit, and the Network Adapter is Intel WIFI Link 5300 AGN with the most up to date driver confirmed. Under the Advanced Tab for the Laptop's Network Adapter, the settings are as follows:

Under WAN, the Primary DNS Server numbers are showing and the Secondary DNS Server numbers are showing as 0.0.0.0 McAffee Anti-Virus is up to date and shows no viruses, nor to the Dlink Logs - McAffee Firewall is turned off, Enable SPI in Dlink Settings is turned on.this problem only occurred when I switched routers recently, the old DlInk router I had never had this issue. And I am using a completely different network name with this new router to avoid any conflicts there. And this problem does NOT occur when hardwiring the laptop to the router directly, it only happens via wireless.Storage of the router is fine, it is in the same spot as the old router was, not to hot, not too cold, it didn't eat any metal for breakfast and there are no MRI machines within 10 miles.
I have the WRT54G router for years and use it to provide both a wireless network for our home computers and a wired network for by internet phone that connects me to my office phone system and for my work computer and printer. Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.
View 9 Replies View Related I lost all Internet connnecitivity on my Linksys e3000. After determining that my cable modem was connected and working correctly, I pulled the e3000 and put my old wrv54g router in place. Wireless worked, but all wired connections showed link but no other apparent connectivity. Neither of my desktops could get a DHCP lease.
At that point, I purchased and manually installed a new e4200 router. All worked fine. Both laptops connected via wireless and both desktops via my house LAN. Until this morning (Monday). Wireless is working just fine, but both wired computers show 100 Mbs connections on an unknown network with no DHCP. Checking status shows packets going out, but nothing coming in. Checking LAN status on the router shows that both ports are connected, but it does not appear to receive anything from either desktop. All was fine last night. Oh, the router is on 1.0.03 firmware.
I have tried about everything I can think of. Configurations both on the router and the desktops (one Windows XP, 64 bit and one Windows 7) and all seems fine. I have disabled and reenabled the network connectors, rebooted both the router and the computers, etc. Nothing seems to work.
I have a problem with my new router. I connected't my iMac (27" 2010) and NAS Synology 1511. My problem is the slow connection between mac and router - only 100Mbit (ethernet port on mac is 1Gbit), strange thing... my NAS have 1Gbit with no problem, and the mac is not. I trying manual configure - forcing speed to 1Gbit, but then is no connection at all. I'm also trying changing wires, but no change. Im buying special ethernet cable cat 6 - also no change. Changing ports on router - result the same.
