I have a problem with my new router. I connected't my iMac (27" 2010) and NAS Synology 1511. My problem is the slow connection between mac and router - only 100Mbit (ethernet port on mac is 1Gbit), strange thing... my NAS have 1Gbit with no problem, and the mac is not. I trying manual configure - forcing speed to 1Gbit, but then is no connection at all. I'm also trying changing wires, but no change. Im buying special ethernet cable cat 6 - also no change. Changing ports on router - result the same.
I upgraded from a E2000 to a EA4500 today and I am experiencing slow wired WAN speeds. On my E2000 I get approximately 60Mbps down and approximately 2Mbps up, and when switching over to the EA4500, I can only manage about 20Mbps down and about 2Mbps up. I can switch back and forth between routers and replicate the results every time
I just installed my EA4500 and my connection speed dropped from 20 mbits/s to around 3 or 4 mbs/s.When i connect directly with the modem, the speed gets back to normal.
I've set up PPPoE on my EA4500 router with a Vigor 120 modem in bridged mode and it says an internet connection is established, but the connection is extremely slow on all my devices. When I run the speed test within the EA4500 firmware it appears fine, but I cannot load any web pages on my laptop or other decives because the connection is so slow. The connection is slow with both wired and wireless connections. I've tried changing the MTU settings with no success. I've also tried using a different router and connecting the modem directly to my laptop and using PPPoE within the laptop and these both work fine, so I think it's clear there is a problem with the EA4500 router itself.
I'm just using the Vigor 120 to authenticate and connect to the internet itself, with the router in DHCP automatic configuration mode. I think this is causing a double NAT.
I have an E1200 acting soley as an AP. Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.
I saw one post recommending to changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. That did absolutely nothing. My comcast internet is now slower than 14.4 dial up modem I had 16 years ago. The strange thing is I can sometimes download at over 2 mbps with torrents. It's mainly loading websites where the speed is so bad.
I purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday. Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues. Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected. When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms. They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's. I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference. I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support. We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.
It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out. The computers connecting to router are
XP SP3 (mine) Win 7 Home (IPV6 turned off) Work laptop that uses VPN and VOIP
I'm owner of Cisco RV082 router and I have a problem with firewall setup.I would like to deny internet access on port 80 (all sites) for group of users, and allow them internet access for one site by HTTPS (443)After applying rules internet connection is really slow.. Users have to wait something like a 30 sec for a website..I descovered that the reason for slow internet connection is DENY rule. After disbling DENY rule everything works fine..Now I have a few rules added to firewall:
Priority:1 Action: Deny Service: HTTP(80) Source interface: LAN Source:10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: Any
Just bought the EA4500, updated with the latest cloud firmware. but Wan performace is BAD. download with router 31.56Mbps, without approx 120 Mbps, tried changing MTU from auto to 1470 but no succes.
Very strange problem with an EA4500 running 2.0.37.131047. Set it up in no time with a Mixed network on WPA2 Personal, Internet's fine, but I can't see any of my wired clients. They don't ping at all. Even stranger, if I plug into another wired switch port with my laptop, I STILL can't ping the other clients. One is a NAS and one is a network printer so there are no firewalls involved. I power cycled the printer but in vain. I've already reset to factory defaults once, but that didn't work. I'm thinking I'll need to return it.
I just setup an EA4500 last night and found the downlaod speed became 1/10 of my previous E3200 before. I tried to use different channels & 20MHz only for wireless connection but no success. The wired connection through Ethernet port was in the same low speed. What else should I try?
So I went out and bought a brand new EA4500, because I thought my old router was bad due to horrific wifi Speeds on my Wireless devices like my laptop and Samsung Galaxy S3. Well now I have the same issue with this new router. My speed from comcast straight from the modem is 25mbps down and 5mbps up, on the routers through a wired connection I get the same thing. As soon as a switch over to Wireless my connection goes from 25mpbs/5mpbs to less then 2mbps down. I've reduced the MTU, and I've tried turning off QoS. Nothing seems to work
I bought a new EA4500 and it was working great and now about 8 hours later it is won't even download some websites and is working very slowly. Pandora suddenly no longer works on it and neither does ESPN, it just times out. Very, very slow. I am very disappointed. I am using it with my Verizona westell DSL modem ... Why this is happening or if maybe this router is defective.
I just now installed a new EA4500 Router. It installed itself automatically without a problem, by running the setup CD. No devices other than my hard wired computer and modem are connected yet.
When I went into Start > Cisco Connect to look around and check it's version, etc., I immediately got a "There's an important update for your router" notice. My concern is not wanting to install The Cloud at this time (although I wouldn't rule it out later). There has not been a trace of it so far.
I currently have Firmware Version: 2.0.36.126507 and Software Version: 1.4.12100.0. What this Important Update may be? Is it the "dreaded" Cloud? I'd rather avoid the whole rolling back to pre-Cloud issue for now, if possible.
I am only getting 10-14 mbps when I should be getting 30-35 (using the gigabit ports). I thought it might be my provider but today I connected my old netgear router and the speed was 32-34 mbps. Is there some setting that I should be looking at?
The issue is that one Dell laptop is experiencing slow or no internet connectivity at all using wireless. Sometimes 1 to 2 minutes to load a page, other times the dreaded 'not able to display webpage' message. It's fine using Ethernet. I have another laptop (same exact brand/model) and it has no problems. I also have a Macbook Pro and other Apple IOS devices (iPod/iPads) that are fine. Several Ethernet connected devices are fine as well. The laptop in question had no issues with my previoius Linksys devices, which are a BEFSR41/WAP55AG as well as a WRT-54GS v2. This one laptop was fine the first day or two on the EA4500 but something happened which is causing this issue. I had to add the WAP55AG back onto my network so my son is happy again, but my plan was to decommission the other devices. Transfer speed for sending or receiving files from a USB external HDD connected to the router is slow? Speed ranging from 2MB - 4MB/s. The HDD is definitely capable of at least 80MB/s if plugged directly into the PC. Is it meant to be this slow or there's a fix somewhere which I'm not aware of? Thought it's suppose to be the top of the line products but seems so inferior if I were to compare with other high end routers in the market which performs better, faster and definitely much cheaper.
Is it possible to run the EA4500 as a Wired only Gigabit router? To do this do I just go into the settings and disable both the 2.4 and 5 channels or do I have to do something else?
Set up my new E4200V2 last night, everything appeared to be working but while streaming videos over wired LAN I get short hiccups over wired. While streaming videos, a few second long pause is really, distracting, this is a deal breaker and my previous router (DIR-655) had no issue streaming any videos. The wiring has not changed, only the router.I set up a ping between two wired linux boxes, and get: [code]
Whoa, 10 ms over gigabit LAN. This is crazy, but doesn't tell us much. The 10 ms was one out of hundreds of pings, so its only intermittent. This might explain the hiccups, but this router doesn't appear to log anything, so its hard to say.Next was scp transfers, which never exceed 15MB/s, in either direction. For gigabit, wired LAN this is awful, with my previous DIR-655 I would get at the very least 40 MB/s, in all situations.Next up, iperf. I set up iperf on the two hosts, and iperf reports reasonable gigabit speeds. [code] Tonight I am thinking of reverting to an old firmware, doing a hard reset and seeing if it persists, and if no ideas come up in this forum, it is getting returned, 15MB/s over gigabit lan is terribly broken.
I'm having an issue with my new E1200 routeur : I have a 100mbit/s connection and since i installed the E1200 , the speed is cut in half : Max 50 mbit/s .. ( or if this is an hardware limitation ? )
I have a gigabit network card with my pc , everything is fine on the pc / network side as i had these speed fine ( 100mbit/s ) with my old ISP router , ( wich i switched in bridge mode to use the E1200)
I have a problem with my download speed. I'm supposed to have a speed of 60 MBPS and when I collect my computer direct to the modem I received it but with my e2000 router, the 3 computer connected to it can't reach more than 30 MBPS. I just updated the firmware of the router to the newest version but nothing changed.
I have a E3200 Router and when the computers are connected directly to router (Wired) the speed is SLOW and when computers are connected via wireless the speed is fast (normal). What can i do to have the wired computer with same fast speed as wireless?....i'm i missing something? Here are the speed results:
All wired computers connections (total of 4) downwload speed ranging from 8 Mbps to 13 Mbps.
All wireless computer connections download speed stable at 49 Mbps.
get a new router. but lets give it a try. I read many many post on how to optimize the speed of the router but none worked so far.I got a great wired Internet connexion hitting between 45 to 60 Mbps[URL] the wifi is crazy slow on Iphone, Macbook pro and iPad staying between 3 to 8 Mbps....
I tried to change all of the specs, did the firmware update. is there a perfect configuration with the new firmware ?
Yesterday, I changed my old belkin n1 router with Linksys WRT54GL router. Ever since them my upstream speed is really slow. I did the speedtest its like .5mbit. My downstream speed is just fine. This issue is only on wired computers, upstream speed on wireless computers is just fine.I retested router & modem several times, my upstream speed is normal when I connect cable directly from modem to my computer.Current Firmware Version is 4.30.14 build 5.
My newly installed E1200 only sends speeds of about 16 mbps wireless, but sends the ful 60 mpbs when wired. What is going on. Firmware is up to date. Changing the channels didn't do anything. Is there a way to figure out if the problem is with my laptops wireless card.
I had a WRT54G2 router and began having trouble with my PS3. It would connect for a few minutes then it would lose the internet connection. I thought maybe it was the router so I have the EA4500 now. The same problem is still happening. I connected all of my other wireless devices to the EA4500 with no problems. The PS3 connects and signs me in and then two or three minutes I'm disconnected. I called Sony and Cisco for assistance but in vain. The PS3 is showing my network has nearly 100% signal strength so that isn't a problem
I have a WRT120n that keeps disconnecting my iMac. I have another PC conected with a wire to the wrt120n and never get's disconected however my iMac keeps disconecting and I have to reconect, this happens like every hour.
I've got my network up and running but the router doesn't see my USB printer. Using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi software to find USB Devices none show up. Nor does the 'refresh' bring up my printer.
I have a problem te access e4200 with web access on a iMac with Lion 10.7. I try to connect with standard Safari. With 192.168.1.1. it won't open, if I look voor IP address it should be 192.168.0.1. now the login screen opens but now I can't login with clean name en password "admin" it gives an error.I also can't install Ciso Connect from CD, it gives a error not right version!.Is there anyone that use iMac with E4200 and Sonos zone player?
Just installed a refurb EA4500 this past weekend after testing it for a week. The regular wireless network is very stable, but not much faster than my single-band DLink DIR655. Guest network seems to drop out from two connected iPhones, and when the connection drops, you have to re-login and type in the guest password everytime. The linksys firmware is up-to-date( Linksys smart wifi)and so are the iOS on the 2 iPhones. Just to add, on my old DLink, the guest network comes up secured also, so when you type in the passcode, it remembers it next it comes in range unlike the Cisco, which requires login at a web interface.
I originally installed my DIR-655 as a wireless access point, not using the wired ports at all, and it worked fine like this. Trouble with my trying to set up my Bell router/modem with port forwarding prompted me to change my configuration so my Bell router /modem is now only a modem, and I am using the DIR-655 as a wired as well as wireless router. I have a separate network server and so don't use the DHCP on the DIR-655, and I only use one port to connect to a separate gigabit switch that serves the network.
I am finding that the wireless connection works really well with the few wireless devices I have connected (mainly an apple tv, and a MAC book) but my wired connections to the internet "feel" slow, sometimes with a significant delay before links to sites are established. I click a link, and wait for several seconds before the site shows up in the browser; sometimes after that the same site seems to respond at normal speeds, other times there are added delays.
Is there something in the DIR-655 settings that would cause this? The wireless connections seem fine.
Should I be looking at a new router/modem (rather than separate boxes)? If so what would be the equivalent D-Link model?
