Just bought the EA4500, updated with the latest cloud firmware. but Wan performace is BAD. download with router 31.56Mbps, without approx 120 Mbps, tried changing MTU from auto to 1470 but no succes.

I recently purchased an EA4500. It started out working really well, but recently I noticed that my speed on my iPhone and iPad has dropped significantly. When I'm in my office where the router is set up, I'm getting around 15 to 20 mb download speed and 5+ upload speed. When I go to my living room about 40 feet away my speed drops to 1mb down and less than 1 up. I expect to see a drop in my performance the further away I get from the router, but this seems really unacceptable to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have EA4500 acting as a router on domainless all-Windows network of two XP machines.Unfortunately, EA4500 aggressively grabs the role of the Master Browser (I am talking about Computer Browser Service) on the network (regardless in which order you power the devices up) and then doesn't serve as a working Master Browser - both Windows machines stop listing the network computers in the "Network Neighborhood" and incur massive timeouts when attempting to view the listing.A quick look with 'browstat.exe status' reveals that indeed the router has announced itself as a Master Browser device, but returns errors when you query it.Quite predictably, without the router, both machinces figure out amongst each other who will be the Master Browser and everything works fine. The problems begin only when you add the router to the network.
1) Is there any way to make EA4500 work like a full-blown Master Browser (the one that not only announces itself, but also serves as such)? having a Master Browser integrated in "always-on" router would really improve the predictability of the network.
2) If not, is there any way to disable the Master Browser on EA4500? For now I managed to achieve that by assigning the router to different workgroup name, but this is lame, as I now can't connect a disk storage to the router and use it within the same workgroup.
I am backing up massive amounts of data to the cloud. Everytime I do this, the wireless performance on my EA4500 seems to degrade to half its throughput. I am using the 2.4 GHz band.

I've tested different scenarios.* Windows XP with built-ín pptp client and Shrew ipsec client* Linux built-in pptp* wireless and wired connections? I never managed to go above 1MBps neither with windows or linux. I managed to go up to 3MBps using the Shrew client.I've also checked mtu settings and everything seems to be fine.

On my E2000 I get approximately 60Mbps down and approximately 2Mbps up, and when switching over to the EA4500, I can only manage about 20Mbps down and about 2Mbps up. I can switch back and forth between routers and replicate the results every time

Well now I have the same issue with this new router.My speed from comcast straight from the modem is 25mbps down and 5mbps up, on the routers through a wired connection I get the same thing. As soon as a switch over to Wireless my connection goes from 25mpbs/5mpbs to less then 2mbps down. I've reduced the MTU, and I've tried turning off QoS. Nothing seems to work

Pandora suddenly no longer works on it and neither does ESPN, it just times out. Very, very slow. I am very disappointed. I am using it with my Verizona westell DSL modem ... My problem is the slow connection between mac and router - only 100Mbit (ethernet port on mac is 1Gbit), strange thing... my NAS have 1Gbit with no problem, and the mac is not. I trying manual configure - forcing speed to 1Gbit, but then is no connection at all. I'm also trying changing wires, but no change. Im buying special ethernet cable cat 6 - also no change. Sometimes 1 to 2 minutes to load a page, other times the dreaded 'not able to display webpage' message. It's fine using Ethernet. I have another laptop (same exact brand/model) and it has no problems. I also have a Macbook Pro and other Apple IOS devices (iPod/iPads) that are fine. Several Ethernet connected devices are fine as well. The laptop in question had no issues with my previoius Linksys devices, which are a BEFSR41/WAP55AG as well as a WRT-54GS v2. This one laptop was fine the first day or two on the EA4500 but something happened which is causing this issue. I had to add the WAP55AG back onto my network so my son is happy again, but my plan was to decommission the other devices. View 2 Replies View RelatedTransfer speed for sending or receiving files from a USB external HDD connected to the router is slow? Speed ranging from 2MB - 4MB/s. The HDD is definitely capable of at least 80MB/s if plugged directly into the PC. Is it meant to be this slow or there's a fix somewhere which I'm not aware of? Thought it's suppose to be the top of the line products but seems so inferior if I were to compare with other high end routers in the market which performs better, faster and definitely much cheaper.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've set up PPPoE on my EA4500 router with a Vigor 120 modem in bridged mode and it says an internet connection is established, but the connection is extremely slow on all my devices. When I run the speed test within the EA4500 firmware it appears fine, but I cannot load any web pages on my laptop or other decives because the connection is so slow. The connection is slow with both wired and wireless connections. I've tried changing the MTU settings with no success. I've also tried using a different router and connecting the modem directly to my laptop and using PPPoE within the laptop and these both work fine, so I think it's clear there is a problem with the EA4500 router itself.
I'm just using the Vigor 120 to authenticate and connect to the internet itself, with the router in DHCP automatic configuration mode. I think this is causing a double NAT.
I have a new 861 router which I have connected to my home broadband cable modem. Got it all working okay and I have access to the Internet but its not as fast as it is if I connect my laptop to the modem.
My Internet is 60mb (was 100 but I downgraded). When I cannot my laptop directly to the cable modem, I get 60mb download speed on speedtest.net If I connect the router's WAN port back to the modem then I roughly get about 40mb, sometimes even 50.
I do not have any IOS firewall configured on the router, just basic ACLs to stop SSH and TELNET from public networks. If I do enable firewall then my Internet connection halves itself. I have read around that this is the case with ios firewalls on these small routers so I've disabled the firewall but I still don't know why I cannot get full Internet speed.
1. WUMC710 data rates fluctuate extremly under OSX 10.8.2 with an iMac 27" . Meaning, one second, I have about 9 mb/s in the other second, I have 20 mb/s. It is fluctuating permenently. When I use another bridge, eg. ASUS EA-N66, the datarate is very stable and I can see no major fluctuation.
2. The overall datarate when using the WUMC710 with OSX is about 50% less, than with Windows7. I have windows 7 installed as a virtual machine on my iMac. When transfering a file to my NAS device, under OSX, I have an average datarate of 18 mb/s. When I transfer the exact same file with win 7 as a virtual machine on this iMac, I have 35mb/s on average!!!!! When I use another bridge, eg. ASUS EA-N66, the datarate is the same on OSX and on windows.
3. The low datarate and the fluctuations also appear in combination with an other router, so it must be something with the WUMC710. I tested it with the EA6500 and ASUS RT-AC66U.
What I have done:
- Tested with two other adatpers (ASUS EA-N66 and built in Apple Airport). Both show constant and high datarates, so the problems only appear with the WUMC710.
- Tested with another router. The low datarate and the fluctuations also appear in combination with an other router, so it must be something with the WUMC710. I tested it with the EA6500 and ASUS RT-AC66U.
- Tested with another OSX device. Same problems with an iMac 27" and with a MacBook Pro. So not a specific problem with one apple device
- Tested with another windows device. Under windows, the WUMC710 shows way better performance and nearly no flucuations in data rates.As I have tested other Wireless adapters, combinations with other routers and other OSX/Win devices and the problems are alyways the same, It must be a bug of the WUMC710. Performance under OSX 10.8.2 is slow and not constant.
Is this the best way to get maximum performance and coverage? I have a DIR-655 bridged to supply B/G on channel 11.I Gave Up On Linksys Firmware And Installed DD-WRT.

I recently inherited a small network. There is an existing 1.5mbps Internet connection (fa0/0) (includes MPLS as well/same provider). We added a new ISP that allows for 50mb down/5mb up. I added the new ISP to fa0/1 and modified the NAT overload statements accordingly. I alo changed the default route to ONLY use the new, faster ISP connection. Using speedguide.net, I am only able to get 6 to 10mb down, most of the time. if I plug a laptop into the cable modem then I get 37 to 50mb down. Why the 2811 is so slow?

I use itunes/apple airport express to play music located on a Buffalo NAS (LAN connection to E3200) on my home stereo. Before upgrading I was able to do this without a problem. Any suggestions for improving performance with streaming music at home? Internet/access to files on Buffalo NAS wirelessly works fine.

The service is great and all, but the one thing that frequently bothers me is the seeming constant instability of my router's model. There are moments when the router performs smoothly, but there is as much an instance because the router doesn't seem to work at all even when the lights (and the accompanying connection) on my modem seem to be working in good order.
I know that a router will always have its problems, but this is really a constant problem with the E1200; and if so, if there's any way possible on how I can be able to "stabilize" the said router's performance.
I've bought a E4200 router because of it's "maximum performance". With the normal settings i have a wireless range of maximum 10 m in the building. after 5m I've got a low signal.I tested a cheap Netgear-router, which had the same range as the E4200 a 125 Euro.Is my E4200 broke or is it just a bad buy? on fwsm we have different dmz for different application. mostly of Oracle (1521 port) to application means seperate one. problem is oracle people reported the slow performace when exporting dump from once vlan to another. before that they are using 3com technology (network) and on this its ok. time difference is double from old to new.
i had sniffed the traffic also and found alot of TCP OUT OF ORDERS errors. i read that this is the bug which is resolved in 4.0.
I am currently having performance issues running a 3 x stack 3750G (different models) as a core for a network of roughly 12 x distribution switches. [code] As above, I have a 12 port Fibre switch and 2 x 3750G-48 port switches. [code] I tried to change the SDM to route but hit another issue where the 3750g-48 does not support SDM route so I had to revert back to desktop VLAN.Could the SDM Template be the reason for slow performance? If so which SDM Template should i use as this is the Core L3 switch.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an RV042 VPN tunnel with an RV082.The RV042 has a public IP Address obtained by PPPoE, the RV082 has a public IP Address obtained via Static IP.The problem I see is a really slow performance. Both internet conections are idle and the performance is about 2 or 3 kbyte/s My question are if I should I enable any of this:
- Agresive mode
- NAT Traversal
- IP Compresion
- Dead Pear Detection
How can I troubleshot this slow performance?
I've looked all over the internet for this and can't find a definate answer. Waited for live chat and got kicked before I got to talk to someone... Just sold my computer and the plan was to buy a newer mac but we've been getting along fine without a computer with just using our iphones. So my question, I see that Cisco has the Connect Express app for the iphone, and I've read about all the features it has like changing settings, router features, etc. But I can't find anything on using the app for the initial set up of the router. I'm currently on an older linksys router (set up before we sold the computer) but it's time for a needed upgrade.
