my switches layer 3 intervlan routing performance is dropping.What would cause this performance drop? I am not pummeling the switch with massive transfers constantly like an enterprise envirnoment would do or a colo center.

In the restructuration of my company network we install due ASA 5510 in failover for the management of internal network and DMZ. We configure the ASA in routed mode, we create the sub interface for server, client and dmz subnet and we connect the firewall ti the network. Everything works very good except the intervlan routin. If i try to send or receive a file in every protocol, ftp, http, smb o if i try to conne with rdp or vns to an host in a different vlan the connection goes very very slow. I particular a ftp connection between two host goes ti 15kb/s. I check all cable and port for some error on duplex ro speed, end all the uplink are 1gb and the single client connection 100Mb. I know that the main purpose of the ASA is not doing routing stuff but this behavior is very strange.

I have 2 RV042 routers with identical firmware (1.3.13.02-tm) and settings. One router is a backup that sits in a box, but both experience this problem. The WAN port gives very poor performance most of the time. Download speeds range from normal, 25mb, to less than .5mb. Pings from my command prompt or the routers "Diagnostic" page, even to the cable modem, are almost always above 500ms. However, pings to internal resources are fast, usually under 5ms. If I connect my laptop directly to the cable modem I have no speed issues. The problem occurs whether I use WAN1 or WAN2.
If I restart the router, speeds are fine for a few seconds and then it begins to slow down like someone is turning down a dial. We also regularly experience a complete internet disconnect quite often, and when it happens, the ping results are the same when it comes back up, almost like the router is restarting itself. [code]

I recently inherited a small network. There is an existing 1.5mbps Internet connection (fa0/0) (includes MPLS as well/same provider). We added a new ISP that allows for 50mb down/5mb up. I added the new ISP to fa0/1 and modified the NAT overload statements accordingly. I alo changed the default route to ONLY use the new, faster ISP connection. Using speedguide.net, I am only able to get 6 to 10mb down, most of the time. if I plug a laptop into the cable modem then I get 37 to 50mb down. Why the 2811 is so slow?

* Linux built-in pptp
* wireless and wired connections
I never managed to go above 1MBps neither with windows or linux. I managed to go up to 3MBps using the Shrew client.I've also checked mtu settings and everything seems to be fine.

on fwsm we have different dmz for different application. mostly of Oracle (1521 port) to application means seperate one. problem is oracle people reported the slow performace when exporting dump from once vlan to another. before that they are using 3com technology (network) and on this its ok. time difference is double from old to new.
i had sniffed the traffic also and found alot of TCP OUT OF ORDERS errors. i read that this is the bug which is resolved in 4.0.

[code] As above, I have a 12 port Fibre switch and 2 x 3750G-48 port switches. [code] I tried to change the SDM to route but hit another issue where the 3750g-48 does not support SDM route so I had to revert back to desktop VLAN.Could the SDM Template be the reason for slow performance? If so which SDM Template should i use as this is the Core L3 switch.

Both internet conections are idle and the performance is about 2 or 3 kbyte/s My question are if I should I enable any of this:
- Agresive mode
- NAT Traversal
- IP Compresion
- Dead Pear Detection
How can I troubleshot this slow performance?
I have a new 861 router which I have connected to my home broadband cable modem. Got it all working okay and I have access to the Internet but its not as fast as it is if I connect my laptop to the modem.
My Internet is 60mb (was 100 but I downgraded). When I cannot my laptop directly to the cable modem, I get 60mb download speed on speedtest.net If I connect the router's WAN port back to the modem then I roughly get about 40mb, sometimes even 50.
I do not have any IOS firewall configured on the router, just basic ACLs to stop SSH and TELNET from public networks. If I do enable firewall then my Internet connection halves itself. I have read around that this is the case with ios firewalls on these small routers so I've disabled the firewall but I still don't know why I cannot get full Internet speed.
I'm having slow performance thru a Site to Site VPN. I have an ASA 5520 in each site with the version 8.2(4) in both ASA's. I have a 20Mb internet service in one side and in the other side I have 50Mb. When I transfer a file from the Sita A to Site B I get a transfer rate of 130KB/S.

During initial days, I believed that the user rate is high at that time and so it is slow. But it is slow during weekends alsoI tried force garbage collection and restarting the server but its of no use. I am using 100 threads. After 12:30 the idle thread count could be seen upto 80, but between 10 am to 12:30 pm, all threads are used and my queue length is increasing.

All the workstations are 100mb over CAT5. SEP is set to exclude all pertinent files on both the server and workstations.Problem: The program is called MasterBuilder and does job costing and much more. In the job costing feature there is an option to "Compute" job costing. In version 16.x, when the "Compute" was performed the task was done very quickly. After an upgrade to version 17.x it is very SLOW. According to tech support, our network is at fault since it is a database function over the network.Troubleshooting done: Tech support blamed our network speed (100mb) and switch. We had a Netgear 100mb switch so we replaced it with a GB switch however the cabling will not support GB. Being a managed switch I set all the ports to 100mb except the server port. Even tried the server plugged into a 100mb port and no change. I am confident there are no speed issues on our network. All other programs perform flawlessly. ACAD, Exchange, data transfers and many other high data use programs work perfectly. I updated the network card drivers in the server as well. There are no performance or resource issues on the workstations. I monitored the network traffic at the workstations, server and switch with no issues and about 2.5% utilization during the slow "Compute" process. The switch shows no errors at all, no collisions, no dropped packets, nothing. I also disabled the SEP.
During testing and while the slow "Compute" was going on, I copied a large folder (400mb) from the server to the workstations see the impact on network utilization. As soon as I start the copy process the "Compute" process speeds up to normal and zips by as it should. As soon as I cancel the copy process the "Compute" drops right back to very slow.
Every other day and sometimes everyday I have an issue where my network slows down in one area at around the same time of day 12:00pm. I am using Solarwinds and I don't see anything significant showing up.

I have 3 other laptops that can connect perfectly with my router, and normally there's only 1 laptop that is connected to my router. The laptop with the slow connection (takes 5 HOURS to load a website, sometimes will not even load), i re-installed the OS, and installed all the drivers needed, and it still wont work. it shows strong connection to me, and im sure the password for the router is right. below is the ipconfig/all information. I am trying to use the real time log viewer to troubleshoot some access issues, but I am getting delays of up to 30 seconds or more between my client connecting to the ASA and the corresponding events showing in the RT Log viewer. I am using a simple filter for source IP as it's quite a busy device.
I've seen an article that says to turn off certain logging IDs (such as 304001 from memory) which I have done, but no different.
We have two publicly routable gateways attached to our A5500 switch that are expecting untagged traffic.
We currently have VLAN 10 as the untagged VLAN for Gateway 1, and VLAN30 as a tagged vlan for Gateway 2. Since both gateways are requiring untagged traffic, I need to make sure all ingress traffic from Gateway 2 gets tagged as VLAN30, while all egress traffic gets untagged.
The tricky part is they must come over the same port so I can't just tag it that way. I get the feeling this will require some static routes or VLAN Interfaces on the switch, but I'm not sure where to start.
I have a task to compare different approaches to implement InterVLAN routing in campus network. Google suggests only Cisco technologies for such query. But what I need is also other companies solutions (like Dell, HP etc), cost of the implementations, pros and cons.

I connected physically the switch card to a router interface and it seem to be working because i can do a ping from my pc ( in user vlan 26) to my gateway on the router (172.20.26.1) but i can not do ping to the others vlan like (172.10.26.1) or others. .. i want to know what is happening and if it there is a way to do the trunk conectivity between the switch card and the router internally without a phyisical connection.

I would like my SRP527 router to manage 2 VLAN. 1 for my whole LAN and employees WIFI connections, another one for external clients to access Internet by guest WIFI SSID.
- I have this Cisco SRP527W router acting as a gateway between my LAN and Internet.
- I have a second router used for VPN connections between my LAN and 2 external agencies.
- My LAN is using 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.255.0 network
- External Agence 1 is using 192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0 network
- External Agence 2 is using 192.168.3.0 / 255.255.255.0 network
The Cisco Router is using 2 VLAN :
-VLAN 1 (LAN port 4 and SSID 1) -> 192.168.0.254 / 255.255.255.0
-VLAN 3 (SSID 2) -> 10.33.0.254 / 255.255.255.0
The Cisco router is using 2 static routes :
- Agence 1 : 192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0 -> Gateway 192.168.0.249
- Agence 2 : 192.168.3.0 / 255.255.255.0 -> Gateway 192.168.0.249
The VPN router for external agencies is using 192.168.0.249 / 255.255.255.0.
When the SRP527W router has intervlan routing enabled, everything is working. I can ping my external agencies. However, external clients using guest WIFI can also ping my internal LAN. Disabling intervlan routing separate VLAN 1 and VLAN 3 properly, but i can't ping my external agencies anymore and i don't know why ?
Behind my Cisco router :
- 1 HP Gigabit switch (servers, VPN router are connected to it)
- 2 Switches (HP and Accton) both linked to the gigabit switch and where all my clients are connected.
No trunk link and vlan are defined on my switches.
I have found multiple solutions to this question for < 8.2 but no solutions for the new way the ASA does nat statments,Basically i have multiple VLAN's and i need 2 of them to communicate
inside - 192.168.1.0/24 ( security-level 100 )
voice - 192.168.100.0/24 ( security-level 100 )
Error i am getting is:
