Router Setting - Getting Error On Browser (could Not Find Server)?
May 23, 2012
Earlier today I was attempting to do something with my router settings and ended up reading on the internet that I needed to do a hard reset to access my router interface - when I typed in the IP address, it came to a "could not find server" error in the browser. After doing the hard reset (holding down the reset button for 30 seconds) I was able to access the router, and adjust the settings. After doing this though I was no longer able to connect to the internet through the router, although the router is sending out a signal (it says connected to linksys but "no internet connection"). I am currently connected directly to the modem right now using my laptop.
TL;DR: Did a hard reset on my router, now it's sending out a signal, but no internet. Modem still has internet, as does the router, (the internet button is green).
I have a Sylvania 7" mini Netbook and I am connected to my wireless modem. My problem is that I am not able to browse the web any anyway. I keep getting cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer.
I'm able to use the web interface to the router, from one computer (Windows XP, IE 8). But from my other computer (also Windows XP, IE 8) I can log in to the router, but then the browser just presents an empty screen. I haven't been able to discover any setting in the browser that could cause this. From this same computer, I can access the web interface with no problem, using Google Chrome browser! So the problem seems to be in IE.
I'm trying to portforward for a game, and in order to do so, I'm setting up a static IP. I've portforwarded in the past and all's been fine, but when I'm trying to set a static IP now it allows me to portforward and host the game, but whenever I try to log into any sort of website, it cannot find the page. The only fix to this is to allow it to obtain the IP address automatically. I've had a static IP in the past and yet I've never run into this issue before.
When I go to my TCP/IPV4 settings under the properties of my selected internet connection, I open up my ipconfig(I'll post it below) and select "Use the Following Ip Address". I then input 192.168.1.73, to change it to that.
Then, I click on the subnet mask box and it auto-fills 255.255.255.0, which is listed under ipconfig anyways, and for default gateway I input 192.168.1.1. I leave the DNS server boxes blank because it doesn't list them under ipconfig and it's what I did in the past to achieve the same results. After I click OK, the issue I listed above begins.

I just got myself a Cisco RV220W, connected my laptop to configure it. I receive an IP adress by DHCP (192.168.1.x) and can ping the router (192.168.1.1). However, when I try to connect to the router by the web interface, I receive this message in my browser (Chrome):
The webpage at https://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 113 (net::ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH): Unknown error.
In FireFox: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.1. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
In IE9: I get no error message, the page never loads
Is it DoA or how to get connected to the web interface?
I am attempting to setup a router with another vendor, but I am not wanting to give full access to the network just a couple IP addresses, most routers you can setup an VPN IP Range, but I can't find that setting on this Cisco WRVS4400N.
I have the Mts Mbrowse ZTE AC 8720 data card. it has problem in installing in windows 8 but it works properly in window 7. It has an error fail to install access serial port 0. i didn't understand the error.
I have the wireless connection working and when I try to browse information on the any browser like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera and all but it cannot connect. It display a message saying "Connection closed by the remote server" in Opera and in other browser it doesn't display anything even after several times of refresh.I also tried restarting the system and it connect the home page of the browser and when I open the link in new tab it doesn't go to that link.
i have a linux server PC and its containing videos, tutorials etc. but my Question how can i play that video files in my browser like you tube??? now its working like non-streaming, jus download and play through any player like!!but my purpose is play videos throgh firefox browser..
i'm currently studying at a college which has a website with a student intranet that is available to log in from any computer. So far it has been working well and I can log in on my home laptop and upload documents and look at presentations etc. Today for no reason when I try and log in I get the message Error Code 500: Internal Server Error and the webpage does no appear.I have had no problems previously and this has only happened today and yesterday, I went down to the college and accessed the website fine from the computers in the library but still no joy from my home computer.
I have a network that is currently set up in the following way:Modem -> vonage Motorola router -> wireless router Most computers are hard wired to the Motorola router. Some other ones connect via the linkseys wireless router. All computers are able to connect to the Internet. The problem I have is that I will be setting up a home computer as a file server connected to the Motorola router. The network acts as though it is two meaning that computers on one router can't see computers on the other router. What steps should I take in order to make all computers accessible through both routers. When I type 192.168.1.1 from a computer on the Motorola router, I get nothing, when I type in my actual ip address, I get the Motorola router. When I type in 192.168.1.1 from a linkseys connected computer, I get access to the linkseys router.
So, what I essentially want to do is share the device connected to the back of my router so that I can remotely access it over the internet. Much like the manual says you can do.
But I'm having trouble. I've currently got the port set at 38, but the website never loads.
Lately, Ive been trying to change my router DNS to OpenDNS. Somehow, after changing it, I couldnt access the router page at 192.168.0.1, getting the error 500 message. I unplugged and plugged the router with no effect. Im using a dlinkddns.com dynamic IP, and have a few ports forwarded for my DVR. The router model is DIR 615. want to change the DNs for speed and filtering purposes.
I've just recently started to get this error, and I'm not sure why (I have no expierence with routers whatsoever). I have noticed, that whenever this happens though, that my NAT type for my xbox goes strict.
I have a problem with my router, WRT54G2. I was upgrading my firmware when my computer froze up, so I had to exit. Afterwards, I could not connect to the web based setup page anymore. I did a factory reset and installed it again with Network Magic and set up my wireless key. It is working now however, I cannot get into the web based setup page. Whenever i go to 192.168.1.1 and enter my info, it just says 500 Internal Server Error. I was always able to access this page, now I can't, so I assume it's not working because of the interrupted firmware update. I do alot of mac filtering and I limit the amount of IP addresses my router gives out so if anyone hacks my security key, they still won't be able to connect, so accessing my router setup page is important to me. I have reset (hold down reset button for 30 secs - 1 minute) the router many times and still nothing. I mean, the router still works. My brother and I can still connect with our laptops, I just can't get to the web based setup page.
I'm connected through the router, a few times a day I cannot open web pages, getting error: Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.Skype continues to work. Here are the results of pinging:

One technician said that this is the providers problem, but I don't think so. When I restart the modem everything works.I have a Netgear WGR614 v9 router.I use ESET 5 security. Btw, connection drops on all computers connected through the router, so it's not my firewall.
I have an E1200 and am time out and packet loss issues. The internet connection is fine for 30 seconds to five minuets and then everything times out for 15-20 seconds. Although it’s only a minor incontinence to web browsing, it makes playing games and watching videos a nightmare. “Lost connection to server error.” and the like…
I upgraded to a new router, the e1200 I am currently using, from my Tenda 10/100 N. The problems where the same that I am experience currently and the reason I bought it in the firs place. When I directly connect to the cable modem, I have no issues and everything is fine.I have run a trace route and the second hop, (the router to the modem) is the choke point.I have cloned the MAC address.I have updated the firmware and hard reset
I have throttled my MTU to automatic, 1500, and 1472. None making any difference.I have disabled NAT and all that does is kill my internet connection.I have disabled all firewalls router and windows, no change.I replaced the physical wire from the router to the modem.I have disconnected all devices except one computer, and no difference.I ran a DNS trace and I have… non routable local internet address 192.168.1.1 DNS-cac-lb-01.rr.com and DNS-cac-lb-02.rr.com.I am using windows 7 and my ISP is time Warner so-cal.
I'm trying to set the tcl source to the flash card on an 1861 router with the following command; TestBox(tcl)#source flash:101.tcl and I get the following message; couldn't read file "flash:101.tcl": File not found.I've copied the file to the flash card by putting the cf in my pc and just dragging it there. What's the proper syntax to set source to flash? I've tried flash0 and flash1 with the same result.
my computers wireless is on and i can connect through an ethernet but my hp compac 6735s with vista os cannot find any available wireless networks not even my own one.I know the router is working as my other computer works wirelessly. I have updated drivers and i keep getting error code 31.
I am using URL Snooper to copy URLs from slide share into my hard drive. Although my internet connection is working fine i am getting the message"ERROR:failed to find a suitable network driver". I cannot understand what the problem is" Please assit me in this issu

When the above problem happens, as work-around, we delete VLAN.DAT file on the Compact Flash of this 2811 router and recopy the VLAN>DAT file back to teh Compact Flash.
Then it runs for a few weeks and the same problem happened.
Then we put a new Compact Flash and recopied VLAN.DAT to new CF and it ran for 3 weeks and same problem started again.
Could be 2811 router motherboard? This customer has thousands of these 2811 routers in identical setups and this is the only router that is having this problem.
I have a Comcast Modem, which connects to the internet port of a simple 4 port switch (useless now due to lack of a second ip address as of recent), which goes out to the Internet/WAN port of a Cisco Router, which from one of the ports goes out to the Internet/WAN port of a Linksys Router.
I have a PC connected to each router, and my question is, How do I set up the network so that I am able to host a web/game server on the PC connected to the Linksys that's accessible over the internet?
Today we got our new VDSL internet connection and had to get a new router, which supports VDSL as our old one didn't.We have a small FTP enabled network hard drive (LaCie Cloudbox). With the old router it worked just fine. I configured the new router exactly as the old one, but something isn't right: I cant connect to the FTP server from the outside.I configured the NAT rules to open the FTP port 21 and configured dyndns on the new router also. On the old router all I needed to do to get it to work was configure dyndns and open port 21. However this doesn't work on the new one and I have no clue what the problem could be.I tried reaching it via its domain name and also tried the public ip address but none of them worked. The Network disk is connected to the new Router the same way as it was connected to the old one. The only thing that has changed is the new router. So the problem must lie somewhere in my configuration, as I havent touched anything else.
I'm running a Mac OS X Server on my network. I'd like to use the Server's DNS instead of my ISP's. In the D-Link Router I've set the DNS to the OSX server in the WAN section. Unfortunately it doesn't allow my clients on the network to connect to the internet when I do this.
If I set the DNS on the client to the OS X server it works fine. Or if I set the DNS on the router to my ISP's (or Google's) it works fine too.
Is this a route configuration issue? (And if so, what can I do to fix it?) Or is this an OS X Server issue?
I have a small home network. My goal is to use Windows Server 2003 R2 to setup a DNS Server that can create a few simple names for some devices on my LAN, such as my printer. My DNS server will forward other inquiries (like google.com) to OpenDNS. Additionally, I don't want to setup a domain controller for my network. I wish to continue using workgroups, how to setup a Windows DNS Server on a workgroup. My biggest confusion is the FQDN of my name server. By default, it's setup as "server.", where 'server' is the name of my Windows Server 2003 machine. My workgroup is named 'Home'. So I tried 'server.home', but this does not resolve. What DNS suffix do my other machines on the network use by default? Is my domain name on the network really my workgroup name? Another thing I want to avoid is configuring a DNS Suffix for every single client machine on my network in their NIC properties for IPv4. I have a D-Link router, and if I do an "ipconfig /all" on my machine, I see that my DNS suffix is 'router', which is the name of my D-Link router. I try setting my DNS Server FQDN as 'server.router' and that doesn't work either, so I'm out of ideas.
