View 1 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I was attempting to do something with my router settings and ended up reading on the internet that I needed to do a hard reset to access my router interface - when I typed in the IP address, it came to a "could not find server" error in the browser. After doing the hard reset (holding down the reset button for 30 seconds) I was able to access the router, and adjust the settings. After doing this though I was no longer able to connect to the internet through the router, although the router is sending out a signal (it says connected to linksys but "no internet connection"). I am currently connected directly to the modem right now using my laptop.
Additional Information:
Router model: WRT45G v.3
ISP: Bellsouth
TL;DR: Did a hard reset on my router, now it's sending out a signal, but no internet. Modem still has internet, as does the router, (the internet button is green).
I am attempting to setup a router with another vendor, but I am not wanting to give full access to the network just a couple IP addresses, most routers you can setup an VPN IP Range, but I can't find that setting on this Cisco WRVS4400N.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthis might sound straight forward, but every other pc or console can find and connect to my router. This issue seems to happen about once every few months, sometimes it comes back by itself and reconnects completely fine.
There isn't a "user limit" on our router.Wireless adapter is dell wireless 1505 draft 802.11n wlan mini-card.
Have restarted PC and uninstalled and reinstalled the card.I tried to set the i.p address to static but it says "adapter disconnected" so won't allow me to edit any settings, despite it being able to find neighbour's wireless very easily.
I am wanting to set up a WAN linkining it to 2 LANs, I was wondering what hardware and software (security etc.) is needed.

I am trying to setup a new lab in an existing network. I have the following requirements: Some users should be able to connect to the servers from their home. i.e. over internet. All other users outside the lab should not be able to access it. I am thinking something like, creating a new subnet for the lab which can then be protected from the rest of the network through firewall settings. And VPN to allow access over the internet. Are there some better solutions or issues with my approach?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wanting to setup a small LAN in my office between 3 PC's for internet, file and printer sharing.each of the PC's has it's own printer connected to it and the idea here is to allow each of the PC's to have access to all printers at any time. Two of the PC's are running WinXP and one is based on Windows 7 Professional. The internet being used in our office is a shared 3G USB dongle (which we currently have to keep moving from one PC to another as the need be), so I'd like that when one PC is connected, all PC's should have access to the internet from that PC. (I would not like to connect the 3G USB dongle into the router).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to setup a VPN, probally more just for the experiance and to learn how to etc, but i also print remotely and view cameras remotely etc and i though it might be safer then port forwarding hundreds of different ports.First question, would it be better or safer to set it up in Windows XP or windows Server as i would have to purchase windows server. I have XP and windows 7. and, what exactly is a VPN. I have done some reading up, but was woundering how exacly i would for instance, remotely view my DVR (cameras) over a VPN. Also, i want the server to be a remote HDD to store and access all data remotely, Backing up etc. This i think VPN is more made for right? And, i will need a server (computer running at all times) to setup a VPN right? as where the router is always on and accessable. I can acheive this and i think this is what i need.So there it is, im new to this side of things done about all i can with the old router and looking at extending my knowledge. Also i wouldnt mind it being SAFE.

I have a Alcatel Lucent ISAM 7356, it has 48 ports for VDSL2 connections for POTS and xDSL lines, i know its backwards compatable with ADSL2+ aswell as VDSL2, Now heres where im struggling, i have no setup guide, no knowledge on how to configure the thing , it does have 1 lan port aswell as a 9 pin D sub console port and a fibre uplink port, i can power the unit on but i have no idea how to comunicate with the thing to configure it ( which will probley be another question when i get to that part) Just for your knowledge, ive been interested in setting one of these up to extend the reach of broadband from one house down the street where virgins network stops so i can bring high speed broadband right to the end of the street where i live.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to set up VPN at home so my friends can access network shares on my LAN and stuff. I have used this tutorial:(url) ?v=1s5JxMG06L4&feature=related so users are set up, and port forwarding on router is done as well. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, and VPN is set up on this machine. The issue is that my friends cannot connect to my VPN from another Windows machine. When they try to connect it is asking them for user and password but later on after authentication they receive error 720 which says connection could not be established. When I went to the network connections and then to the properties of VPN (incoming connections) it says no hardware capable of accepting calls is installed.

View 14 Replies View RelatedNetwork setup. This are its features:I have a Cisco modem/router in 192.168.0.1 DHCP is ON. Only the (following) linksys router is connected to the modem. There's a Linksys 160n router in 192.168.1.1. I need it because the wireless range of the modem is very limited (the router gets the gateway info via dhcp from the modem). DHCP is ON, and the office computers are connected via cable or wifi to this router, using its dhcp server to get their ips and network information (the gateway is still 192.168.1.1 in the computers. There's a HP printer which has to be on the 192.168.1.x network, otherwise it won't work.I need to connect an Amahi NAS (Amahi Home Server - Making Home Networking Simple) to this setup. Apparently, it needs to have its dhcp server on, otherwise it won't work as expected. I need to access it from the rest of the computers in the 192.168.1.x range, but also from the internet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy modem is D-LINK WBR-2310. I am trying to set up a static IP for my Xbox 360, but am unable to. I have tried assigning it IPs from inside/outside my DHCP range, and nothing works. Every time I assign it a new IP, I forward the port in my router. My modem is an Embarg EQ-660R, and is bridged. My 360 is set up wired directly to my router (the only wired item I have). Every time I test the connection after forwarding the port, it (my 360) errors out at the first step of connecting to "network". I've searched the interweb to no avail trying to find an answer to this problem. I'm putting the IP address of the IP I choose in the port forwarding rules, this is correct, yes? General port forwarding question: What port are you supposed to choose for different games, say Battlefield 3, that I play on my PC? Is the port I choose in my router settings supposed to always be the IPv4 address within IPconfig?

This feature allows you to remotely connect into the router and access any external drive attached as well as your computers shared folders. My issue arises due my location. I have my router which I can setup with a static number but the school breaks theirs down so mine will never stay that way.I am trying to see if there is a way to make an address static using an update feature or something of that nature to constantly have a new IP when mine changes.

And both networks having connection to the internet. (The idea being that if the server somehow became compromised that my personal computers and their data would be safe)I have done some research and found that many people claim this can be done with just two or three routers, but none of them go into any detail about how to configure the routers. Below are the physical setups of the two options that I have come up with in my research, which if either would you recommend? And how would I configure each of the routers?

--port 1 to WAN of router 2-------------l

Ok my Routers Sercurity Settings are on WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK). But on this setting it does not allow me to use all my wireless devices. They appear with errors stating that i must change my sercurity settings to WEP. So i tried this, i first changed it to 128bit WEP and it connected to my other devices. But the router suddenly began automatically shutting off its wireless capabilities at frequent random intervals (the LED showing its function shutting off and all wireless internet sources). So i changed it back to my original settings and it fixed itself, but once again i could not access my devices. So i tried using the 64bit WEP option and once again it proved the same results as the 124bit WEP.

Both have removable antennae so I can replace with better ones. But I can't seem to access the internet through them. It works fine if I connect directly from the modem to the PC.
