I have an intermittent issue getting a DHCP address when using a Cisco Wap 200. Sometimes i can get an address but most of the time my devices fail. This happens with / without WPA or WEP.

i have configured wlc 2504 .in that i have configured two interfaces.one is guest, 2nd is internal user, the pblm when user try to connect with that contain ssid user not getting ip address,
i have connected only one link between core to wlc on port 1.for guest interface i used port 4.but no physical link.
Currently we're providing DHCP to wireless clients from a dhcp pool on a cisco 6500. Due to new requirements we need to move to windows 2008 dhcp and when I test this on an unused WLC (7.0.235.0) the client doesn't get an address.
When I do a packet capture on the client I see it requesting dhcp but not getting any response from the server. When I do a dhcp debug on the client I see the same (see attached file).
This seems to me to be a server issue but the same server is supplying addresses to wired clients.
Is it problem with iPads or LAP1141n?WLC 4404 and many 1142 and 1141, so other devices laptops, iphones, androind phone works as well.But iPad authorized, but can't get an ip address from dhcp server (dhcp not local on wlc, on windows machine) with coverage lap1141, but it get ip with coverage lap1142, and when i got it i roaming to lap1141 and it stays, if i off/on iPads can't get it again from lap1141.

I added a new SSID in VLAN 2 and I would like no to use the DHCP Server but to make the AP get an IP Address from the pool I created in the own AP (ip dhcp pool Guest) but every time I try to connect the new v lan, it doesn't get an ip address.
Follow the settings of the AP.

My 5508 WLC which runs version 7.4 is configured as a DHCP server for the AP management and here's my problem: My AP can get to the address, and can ping the address of the WLC management，But my AP prompts the following log： [code]
In the switch dhcp we can use to do the WLC option43 specified address, but in this case how the address specified WLC, the AP can be registered up?
I'm experimenting a strage issue with some AP1142 that prefer getting new IP from DHCP server rather than using the static ip already configured.
I've got more than a hundred of 1142 APs already conected to a 5508, all with static IP, all working fine for about a year.
As i installed 30 more AP, i enabled a dhcp scope on the controller to give IP to the new APs and when the new aps got registered i changed the configuration to static IP.
The problem comes when some of the older AP than have already static ip are gettig ip from dhcp scope.
If i look at my WCS, it reports that this APS are getting DHCP IP because they cannot reach the controller with their static ip. As this is impossible, because the static ip and the dhcp enable scope are in the same subnet in a layer 2 configuration and with the same gateway. (e.g: old AP 10.10.2.10/16; new AP(dhcp 10.10.3.10-50) 10.10.3.15/16; gw 10.10.254.1)
The problem comes when i disable the dhcp scope, all the older aps that got dchp ip from the wlc scope instead of using their staic configured ip are deregistered. If i reset every ap manually, from the swithc disabling PoE, they start to use the static ip and everything comes fine.
This is happening with about ten of fifteen APs from the 100 installed, that is the strange thing because this seem to be very random as the failing APs are installed in different building and connected to different switches.
As now i have disabled dhcp scope and all APs (old and new) have static ip everything is ok, but i will have to add some more APs shortly and every time i enable the dhcp scope on the wlc
The problem is WAP 610n not assigning IP address through DHCP; i have to add IP address mannualy.

To connect the Linksys WRT54GS to a Microchip DV102411 WiFi Comm Demo Board I need the IP address assigned by DHCP. The WRT54GS Administration Log is enabled but there is no Incoming or Outgoing network activity. The DV102411 sees the SSID linsys when scanning for wireless networks and attaches to it but once attached I need to know the IP address the DV102411 has been given by the WRT54GS.

I have 2 units Cisco WLC 5508 running software version 7.0.220 with 70 over units Cisco AP 1262N and 1242AG. Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIn our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.
SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet

Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.
with our WLC 5500 controller, once the clients get the DHCP address the page is not redirecting them to the guest portal.What is the best way to check as to why the redirection is failing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got threeLinux Boxes (running Centos 6). They were all connected to my cheap WRT54GL-- DHCP worked every time.Absolutely no problems. Both the LInux boxes and the WRT54GL had MTU set to manual, 1492.I replaced the WRTt54GL with the expensive E4200. I set the new router's MTU to manual, 1492. NONE of my Linux boxes ever receive a DHCP address. I look at the logs, and they do DHCPDISCOVER, get DHCPNACK, try several different intervals, and then fail the interface and quit.ALL I did was unhook cables from the WRT54GL and plug into the E4200. Yes, the WRT54GL was powered off. NOTHING was changed in the Linux configs. Yes, DHCP is enabled, address-range assigned, etc. BTW-- one box is dual boot with Win7-- in Win7 (using the same card, obviously), DHCP works just fine. But, Linux doesn't work.
I can give the boxes static IP's, and all is well. Just can't get DHCP to work. I evfen tried putting in DHCP reservations (via MAC assignments) for the E4200-- still doesn't work. The new E4200 is on the 02 firmware (which I believe is cuurent). If I can't iron this simple task out, in a couple of days I'm taking the E4200 back, and getting a refund. I'll stay with my old WRT54GL... it works. Hate to give up on some of the new E4200 features, though.
I've tried to cascade two Linksys routers, but It hasn't worked for me. The first one (which has cable-modem connection) is the brand new E4200, and the second one is the old WRT54GCv3.[code] However, the WRT54GCv3 doesn't get the IP address from the E4200's DHCP. I've also tried to connect them directly (without the PLC), even specifing an static IP on the second router, but I got the same results.I've to state I don't want to change the first router IP/gateway parameters because I have a web and game home server working with an static IP and I don't want to put it offline temporarily because of readjusting network parameters.

I have a PROLiNK H5001N ADSL Wireless Modem using bridge mode to my TL-WDR4300. I login to my ISP using the TL-WDR4300 with secondary connection to my modem so that I can open the modem setup page.
1.) My question is can the Prolink get DHCP address from the Wan Port of TL-WDR4300?
2.) Can I still use the Wifi of the modem to get internet?
3.) If I connect my ISP to Prolink then connect TL-WDR4300 thru static connection, will the NAT and Hardware NAT still work in the TL-WDR4300?
NOTE: the latest firmware built TL-WDR4300_V1_121225 seams to have internet connection lost problem after a few minutes. I reverted back to 3.12.23 and the problem is gone.
I have a ADSL Modem with built in router that the E1500 is connected to via Ethernet.If I choose "Automatic Configuration" for the internet connection setting on the E1500 I can enable DHCP on the E1500 but the gateway it gives to clients is always that of itself (192.168.1.1). The gateway it should be is that of the ADSL Modem (192.168. 1. 254).If I choose "Bridge Mode" I can't even enable DHCP.Is there a way I can use the DHCP server?

Router says "Invalid IP address" when I try to make a manual IP address reservation of the IP address range.
Example: local network 192.168.1.0/24, where .1 is a router, .2 is a reservation, .20-.50 is a range for DHCP.
Before upgrade I didn't have this problem.
After an upgrade of the WRT120N to firmware Ver.1.0.06 (Build 01) every device I have tried to use WPA authentication with will authenticate / associate with the device then drop the connection just prior to recieving a DHCP address.I have tried a Dell latitude laptop with the broadcom chipset, an iPhone 3GS as well as an motorola with google pad device and all experience the same problems.I have removed all mac address filtering, and re-enabled the essid broadcasting only to have the same problem persist despite stripping everything down to just WPA.

I have FE4 (The WAN port) set to get an ip address via DHCP, but when I do a test connection from CCP I get this error: Checking interface IP address…failed.No Ip Address for the interface has been obtained. I am running a Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows XP SP 3. My computer is displaying cannot aquire network address, can't contact dhcp. I have already had the modem and ethernet cables tested, they're fine, and I have tried replacing the network card, no luck. I have also run ip config renew and replace as well as ipconfig/all everything was zero. I checked the startup menu and all the appropriate network apps are marked started and automatic.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI disconnected and reconnected the powercable while holding on to the setup button until system, alert, setup go amber. The system led light began blinking green. I waited until one of the leds lights on the ports starts blinking green I then connected the ethernet cable connected to my pc. I made sure my lan connection on my computer was set to dhcp.In the docs claim it should take about 1 minute to grab a new ip address. After a few minutes i check the ipconfig on my pc and I get the apipa address.The setup light on the switch remains green while system is amber. The led for port 1 stopped blinking and remains green.My pc is not grabbing an ip address I don't know what else to do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just tried replacing a cheap domestic router/switch with an RVS4000 V2 on our work network. This has a WAN connection to a cable modem for internet access via a dynamic IP address.
When I first connected the RVS4000 it got a WAN ip address via DHCP of 192.168.100.11. This is the type of IP address we get when there is an upstream problem with our ISPs cable network, and sure enough we had no internet access. The RVS4000 was set to use DHCP on the WAN interface. So I logged a support call with our ISP but they said there were no problems at their end.
I then swapped the RVS4000 out for the original router. This worked fine and got a WAN DHCP address of 77.xxx.yyy.zzz as it should. Swapped back to the RVS4000 and back to the same problem of getting a 192.168... address.
So, I downloaded the latest firmware from Cisco, which was V2.0.3.2 and flashed the RVS4000.
I then tried again connecting the RVS4000 to the cable modem but this time it would not get any WAN DHCP address at all. On the Status/Gateway page of the web interface it said that the WAN interface was down. However, on the front panel there was a yellow light indicating a live connection on the internet port.
I use the dhcp demon (dhcp server) on my PIX 501 to give my local clients automatic ip addresses, my dhcpd config is here:

I know DHCP can assign more than just address, mask, and gateway. It can also assign a hostname, and DNS. Does anybody know if it can also be used to assign an SNMP address?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers that cannot/will not acquire an IP address from my DLink router.There are 2 other computers that aren't having any problem at all...so I assume that it is not a problem with the DHCP service of the router. The 2 computers are laptops: one netbook running Windows XP and another standard laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium x86. Both computers are running McAfee and I have scanned with McAfee and Malwarebytes, and both are malware-free (no infections were found on either system on first scans...so it's not like I'm dealing with a system that has had infections removed). When connected to the network, they attempt to acquire an IP address, but cannot for some reason and then Automatic Private IP Addressing takes over and they come up with a 169.254.x.x address. I cannot figure out why this takes place, as I have gone through Winsock repair, uninstalled and reinstalled both network adapters (ethernet and WLAN) on both laptops and nothing seems to make a difference. I have even tried disabling APIPA by adding the "IPAutoconfigurationEnabled" DWORD value in the registry......still the same. I have manually configured the adapters with a static 192.168.0.x address, and I can begin to communicate on the local area level...but still cannot establish any kind of Internet connection.

However, it cannot connect to the internet when using the wired connection but it can be pinged from other machines at work. The NIC does not pick up a different IP address even after releasing and renewing the IP address through cmd. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the NIC. The NIC is working because when I set a static IP address the machine can connect to the net. Using DHCP it goes back to that same IP address. I have tried a winsock repair as well with no go, as well as taking the machine off the domain and re-joining it. Is there something I can do on my end to get a different IP address through DHCP or do I have to get a Network engineer involved? This is a machine on a corporate LAN?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 2011 SBS and Windows 7 clients.My server has a DHCP range of 192.x.x.150 to 192.x.x.199 and all other I.P. addresses are static. On a workstation located at I.P. 192.x.x.13 I am seeing an address conflict.When I perform an "nbtstat -a 192.x.x.13" command from the server I am given the logical computer name of a staff members personal laptop.Investigation of the laptop reveals that it is set to DHCP, and clearly the address of 192.x.x.13 is outside of my servers DHCP scope, so this I.P.should never be assigned, let alone in duplicate.I Google this topic before posting, and it was suggested that IPv6 could be having an adverse affect. I determined this because I performed a ping on the laptop and only got a MAC address back rather than an I.P. address.However after unticking IPv6, and rebooting, the laptop is still causing havoc.I can set a static I.P. address on the laptop, however this is not ideal.
