View 1 Repliesmy Laptop is about nine years old, HP Pavillion Pentium 4. I run Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?

I have a RVS4000 router with DHCP enabled and in router mode.
The LAN is 192.168.2.x. The RVS4000 static IP address is 192.168.2.8
The router is not the RVS4000 and is at 192.168.2.1
The RVS4000 dhcp is assigning it's clients a default gateway of 192.168.2.8 instead of what I want 192.168.2.1. How can I get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 nexus 7010 switches configured with HSRP in the network. For all the vlans core1 is Master and Core2 is standby. In the current setup we have external dhcp server and dhcp relay is configured for all the vlans on Master and standby switch. The setup is running the IOS 5.2
Activity Done: During the Maintainacne activity, we isolated core1 switch in the network by disabling the vpc/keepalive and all the uplinks from access switch. The core2 switch was master for all the vlans.
Issue observed: It has been observed that new users were not getting ip address from the dhcp server. The ethereal capture showed that dhcp server was not getting the dhcp requests from the core2 switch. We disabled the dhcp feature in core2 and enabled again with dhcp relay again configured on vlan interfaces .even after doing this no change was observed in behaviour. Finally we got core1 back in network by enabling all the links.
Observation: The moment VPC link came up between the core switches, users started getting ip's from dhcp. Then we started enabling all the uplinks on core1.Core1 again become master for all the vlans and users continued getting ip’s. Network running fine.
Further Testing
1. For one of the vlan, core 2 switch has been made primary and for new users checked the dhcp functionality and it was working fine. The aim was to identify if anything wrong on core 2 related to dhcp relay
2.Again we changed the priority for this vlan and made core1 master for the same. This time we disabled this vlan on core1 and tried new user with core 2 became master and dhcp functionality worked fine for new user. Actually in this case we have simulated the same behaviour when we observed the issue with only difference of VPC was not available during the issue time as core 1 was isolated form network
Inputs needed.
Is there any known behaviour for dhcp functionality when VPC is unavailable? If we see the test scenario2 (wherein core1 was master for the vlan and we disable this vlan on core 1 and core 2 was able to relay dhcp requests for new users in this vlan.) it was actually same as scenario we observed during issue time..
2 days ago, my laptop was connected to my router and working fine. But it then randomly disconnected and haven't been able to connect back since. I am using an ethernet cable to access the internet, and have tried many ways to try and resolve the issue but nothing is working.
I have a Dell L501x (Win 7 64-bit) with the Intel Centrino 1000 BGN wifi card. I have restarted the router and modem and disconnected all devices and tried reconnecting, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers, system restoring and using safe mode (with network) but nothing works. The modem and router are working fine as other devices connect and access the internet, it is just my laptop that cannot.
I am sure it is not a hardware issue as the card detects all the surrounding networks. The troubleshooter only says "An administrator profile failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
How do i get the 12.4 code to assign a dhcp address to my ethernet interface from my server? I deleted the default config on the 1141 and searching has not turned up anything useful.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to set a DHCP pool with 127.16.0.0/16 with RV220W, however, RV220W UI can't save it. It displays "IP Address Range -"Step to reproduce: (it is 100% reproducible)
1. login into RV220W admin web
2. Create a VLAN, id 201
3. Go to "Multiple VLAN subnets", select the VLAN, click edit
4. Enter following info:
IP Address: 172.16.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
DHCP Mode: DHCP Server
Domain Name: Cisco
Starting IP Address: 172.16.2.100
Ending IP Address: 172.16.10.254
Primary DNS Server: 172.16.0.1
Leave rest of settings with default value.
DNS proxy is enabled
5. Press Save button. The UI shows text "IP Address Range -".
Expected result: RV220W shall save the setting and make use of 172.16.0.0 subnet in IP pool. By the way, the error message "IP Address Range -" seems incompleteI tried same setting on netgear FVS318N (very similar settings to RV220W), it accepts 172.16.0.0/16 as DHCP IP pool and works.RV220W has great feature set meets my needs. Its UI is slow and sometime dashboard freezes, which I can live with comparing to features. But DHCP server IP pool can't be class B is huge limitation to me.

I have a problem with my WAN ports. I can´t obtain a ip adress from my ISP. I´ve tried factory reset. Upgrade to lateset firmware. Clone MAC adress from my PC. Nothing is working.
But when I plug the WAN port into my Old router it receives an adress directly. When I plug the ISP connection directly into my pc or the old router it´s working as well.
I am using the latest firmware: RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin
And My ISP has an interface with an ADSL modem SmartAX with DHCP.
Switch is a Nortel 5520
PC is Windows 7, with Intel 82579LM adapter
When PC was first attached to network, it could not ping gateway(switch). Turns out it was broadcasting for the gateway's MAC address, but never got a response. Tonnes of testing later, if I just change one number on the MAC address of the adapter, it receives a reply from the switch and can ping the gateway.
Why doesn't the native MAC address work?
Update: Just the vendor portion is the determining factor. As long as it starts with 2C-59-E5, it will not work. 2C-58-E5 will.
Update 2: Pinging anything in the same subnet works, just pinging the gateway interface of the switch doesn't happen. Tried on multiple drops, and there are other devices on those drops.

View 7 Replies View RelatedA company I work for has a number of CSM modules (WS-X6066-SLB-APC) installed in 6513 chasis switches. The CSM modules are running version 4.2(14)These CSM modules are configured to load-balance a number of vservers via serverfarms, each serverfarm containing multiple real servers.
Here is some example configuration:
vserver SITE
virtual 10.1.2.3 tcp www
serverfarm SERVERFARM
persistent rebalance
inservice
[code]....
The company is facing a problem with what seems to be related to return code checking. Every once in a while a server will suddenly not receive any traffic for 5 minutes. This always occurs right after the server has sent a HTTP 503 return code. However we cannot see in the CSM logs that the CSM module has actually disabled the real server. For other serverfarms which are running regular HTTP and/or ICMP health checks to real servers we can clearly see in the CSM logs when a real server has been temporarily disabled due to health check failures.
The return code checking is set to disable a real server for 300 seconds after the CSM has received five HTTP 503 responses from the real server. If we check the real server log however we cannot find more than that single 503 return code right before the server stops seeing any incoming traffic unless we move back at least hours in time.I have tried to figure out what time frame those 5 return codes must be received within for them to count towards the maximum allowed return codes, but nowhere in no documentation can I find any information about this time frame. For all I know the CSM could keep track of every incoming 503 forever, until the maximum of five 503's is reached, and then the server is disabled for 300 seconds.
i am facing the same problem now but am using windows 2003 server

Please contact your ISP or WAN administrator and check if the server has been configured to lease ip addresses to the client’s connection through DHCP. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers that cannot/will not acquire an IP address from my DLink router. There are 2 other computers that aren't having any problem at all...so I assume that it is not a problem with the DHCP service of the router. The 2 computers are laptops: one netbook running Windows XP and another standard laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium x86. Both computers are running McAfee and I have scanned with McAfee and Malwarebytes, and both are malware-free (no infections were found on either system on first scans...so it's not like I'm dealing with a system that has had infections removed). When connected to the network, they attempt to acquire an IP address, but cannot for some reason and then Automatic Private IP Addressing takes over and they come up with a 169.254.x.x address. I cannot figure out why this takes place, as I have gone through Winsock repair, uninstalled and reinstalled both network adapters (ethernet and WLAN) on both laptops and nothing seems to make a difference. I have even tried disabling APIPA by adding the "IPAutoconfigurationEnabled" DWORD value in the registry......still the same. I have manually configured the adapters with a static 192.168.0.x address, and I can begin to communicate on the local area level...but still cannot establish any kind of Internet connection.
