Dell :: L501x Administrator Profile Failed To Obtain IP Address From DHCP Server
Feb 20, 2013
2 days ago, my laptop was connected to my router and working fine. But it then randomly disconnected and haven't been able to connect back since. I am using an ethernet cable to access the internet, and have tried many ways to try and resolve the issue but nothing is working.
I have a Dell L501x (Win 7 64-bit) with the Intel Centrino 1000 BGN wifi card. I have restarted the router and modem and disconnected all devices and tried reconnecting, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers, system restoring and using safe mode (with network) but nothing works. The modem and router are working fine as other devices connect and access the internet, it is just my laptop that cannot.
I am sure it is not a hardware issue as the card detects all the surrounding networks. The troubleshooter only says "An administrator profile failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
I tried many times to connect my ps3 to the internet/playstation network so far no luck. The router I'm using is a linksys WRT54G v 2.00.8. I have no problem using my WII, PSP, or computer to go online but my ps3 cannot connect to the internet.url...The errors I might sometimes get is "failed to obtain IP adress" and most of the time I get something with unable to connect to internet server when I am able to get the IP address
I was thinking maybe I shold reset my router to default settings but I'm not sure what's the way to do that or update the router? This problem also has been happening for a week now. In the previous weeks I could easily connect to the internet with no problems and all of a sudden I cannot connect anymore and this has happened a few times already in the past where I am unable to connect to the internet with my ps3 for a few days to a week.
I have an Avaya IP Phone for work. This has been tested at work and works as expected. After the IP Phone boots it's able to obtain an IP address from work. At home when I plug the IP phone into my DIR-655 router, it's unable to obtain an IP address. Other network devices are able to obtain an IP address, for example any computer or laptop. Also my wireless works with no issues expect for the IP phone. I've already done some searching and found other users with the same issue but I haven't been able to find a solution other than setting a static IP address. I'm curious why this relatively new router won't work with an IP phone. I've played with some of the router settings but it didn't make a difference. Any work around to get the DHCP to work? I'm running the latest firmware for my router: 1.35A Hardware Versions: A4.

I would like to share one problem with WLC 5508 . we added a new virtual interface on the WLC. One new SSID is associated with this interface.
We created a ACL for this interface to restrict the access via WIFI to certian services. It´s not correct that everything works fine because the change were not applied. [code]
The changes of the ACL are applied on the fly, but for reason we don´t know, the clients don´t get a DHCP IP-Address (after changing the ACL) until the Controller is rebooted.
2 brand new Vostro 270s straight out of the box both have the same problem. (Windows 7 PRO)
These are connected to a wired LAN, the NIC fails to find the dhcp server and get itself an ip address. The network cable & port work fine with any other PC. If I change the properties in the NIC to a static IP address it works fine.
I have tried every Realtek driver I can find, both from DELL and Realtek, no difference.
I have wiped one of the machines and re-installed a fresh copy of Win 7, then the chipset drivers (from the DELL supplied CD) - no difference.
I have two ethernet cards (from same equipment) that arent acquiring IP Address after instalation of WLC 2504.I dont want (yet) to disable DHCP proxy on WLC.

We assign in our IPSec VPN the tunnel-address from our centralized dhcp server pools. In the profile we have two server's ip configured. In test (whireshark) we noticed that the discover always go to the first configured ip.
I do not understand and could not finf hints how the function is.
- backup server with a timeout when no answer comes from primary ?
- should ASA do simultaneous discover to all configured ip's ?
=>Problem is, that although the first server not answered in a timely manner, we noticed no discover to the second.
The public IP address of my 2800 router where all VPN clients terminate will change shortly. There are some technique to auto-change the client´s profile for clients to connect to the new IP address? I have seen that VPN 3000 concentrator is able to do this so i can´t get one of those right now
I connects to the wireless box and has full signal but an exclamation mark is present.I have run some tests and the IPv4 and IPv6 say they have no internet access.I also run a full test and everything passed except the ping test which failed and it said: no response:default gateway response: dhcp server it suggested disabling security firewall but i'm not sure if that's the correct thing to do or even how to do that!
I can not connect to the internet either by WiFi or ethernet connection on my XPS L501X 64bit running Windows 7. This problem suddenly occurred after a failed microsoft update. The Action Centre lists a number of problems including;
Host Process for Windows Services........................................Windows Update installation problem
Microsoft Malware Protection Command Line Utility (3).......Mp Telemetry
Microsoft Management Console...............................................Stopped working
Network Diagnostics Framework (4).......................................Unable to diagnose/repair problems
Windows Wireless Lan 802.11 Extensibility Framework....Stopped working
I can copy the technical details to Notepad and send them if this would be useful in determining the problem and finding a solution.
Of course, with no internet connection, I have been unable to report the problems, check for solutions or run any online diagnostics and am using another laptop to communicate.
I have downloaded and installed the latest WiFi adaptor (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) and driver to no avail. I used the Intel updater wizard thingy which uninstalled the old adaptor and installed the new one. I have not updated the Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller driver, but when I click on update driver, it indicates the the latest driver is installed. All devices are listed as working properly.
A while ago (around 5 months) my wireless card suddenly stopped working for no reason whatsoever. Since then I had been using a usb wifi dongle but I got sick of that so decided to find out what the problem was. All my drivers where up to date, I re-installed everything, no luck. Opened the laptop up to find the wireless card had burnt out. Ordered a new one from Amazon (It was legit, more expensive than ebay ones) Put the new one in everything worked fine, wireless back on as normal, now 3 days later, wireless randomly turned of again, smelled burning inside my laptop, opened it up and the new wireless card had burnt out again. My friend thinks its the circuit. I had defiantly connected everything properly as I have taken many laptops apart.
The network card is: Model: 622ANHMWIntel Centrino Advanced N6200
I intend to upgrade to a dual band router and would like to replace the 1000 with a 6300. I need an extra antenna for the 6300, as I do not have a WWAN or Tv tuner fitted, is it possible to utilise the spare antenna for the 6300? If this is possible, I have read about white lists in the bios causing boot up error messages when using alternate cards, if purchased from Dell, will this be a problem?
I have dell xps l501x with embedded 5620 mobile broadband mini card. Vz access manager says that device is disabled. How can I fix. Or in device bad and have to replace?
I am running v6.3.1172.4 of InterScan for Cisco CSC SSM. The previous administrator has left and I need to change the email address that email notifications go to. I click "Administration", then I click "Notification Settings" and type over the previous admin's email address.
When I click the "Save" button, I get:
The email address entered was not recognized. Verify the syntax and try again.
my Laptop is about nine years old, HP Pavillion Pentium 4. I run Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?
I'm a heavy PC Gamer, I play games such as World of Warcraft, Borderlands, Call of Duty, Steam Games, I also know my way around fixing internet issues, But this one just seems to have gotten me off guard, Recently, 1-2 days ago, I was browsing the internet like a normal day, and It was late, so I decided to go to sleep, Turned my computer off, Woke up the next morning, Turned it on, It then shows that I kept getting kicked off the LAN for some reason, It was like this[CODE]
I have simple set-up in my network with 2 routers connected to each other, 2nd router is just kind of wireless access point and switch to extend cable sockets upstairs.I have DHCP reservation on the first router and it works perfectly. Second router has DHCP server disabled, and I have configured DHCP reservation same as the first router, but it gives random IP addressess instead of reserved. how can I configure second router to obtain MAC DHCP RESERVATION TABLE from the 1st router?
My Network is running Windows Server 2003 and with more than 150 Users. But last week, I notice that a program is changing my DHCP server IP Address scope.
I randomly lost Internet connection, and since have not been able to Renew an IP address! Other people in my household can connect just fine. I've tried numerous things to get my internet back, but continue to be unsuccessful in doing so.

I have a RVS4000 router with DHCP enabled and in router mode.
The LAN is 192.168.2.x. The RVS4000 static IP address is 192.168.2.8
The router is not the RVS4000 and is at 192.168.2.1
The RVS4000 dhcp is assigning it's clients a default gateway of 192.168.2.8 instead of what I want 192.168.2.1. How can I get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?
I have a 1250 AP connected to an Switch Cisco 3750. We have a SSID(v lan 1 - native) which get an IP Address from our DHCP Server(located in a Windows 2003 server). I added a new SSID in VLAN 2 and I would like no to use the DHCP Server but to make the AP get an IP Address from the pool I created in the own AP (ip dhcp pool Guest) but every time I try to connect the new v lan, it doesn't get an ip address.
Follow the settings of the AP.

My 5508 WLC which runs version 7.4 is configured as a DHCP server for the AP management and here's my problem: My AP can get to the address, and can ping the address of the WLC management,But my AP prompts the following log: [code]
In the switch dhcp we can use to do the WLC option43 specified address, but in this case how the address specified WLC, the AP can be registered up?
Currently i have multiple computers that are connect via lan with ip addresses(static) that are connected to a cisco router. My question to you, how do you assign more ip addresses to computers on the lan.
I have a Dell 570 Inspiron desktop running win7 home premium w/ a 64 bit OS. I have Frontier dsl with a Westell 327W modem and a netgear router. Two desktops are connected to the internet...one through the modem and the Dell 570 through the router. I also run laptops through the router w/no problem. This morning the dsl went down, and when it came back up, the Dell 570 would not connect. i tried Diagnosing Connection Problems, and I'm told to turn off the modem/router (which I have done a gazillion times). When I look at Network Connections in the Control Panel, It tells me I have an unidentified network and can't connect. I read through some forums earlier, and found that releasing and renewing ipconfig often corrects the problem, and that's when I got the message that 'An error occurred while nenewing. Local Area Connection unable to contact DHCP server.' This set up has worked for the past year and a half. I looked at the network adapter, and it says it's working properly. I changed the cables going to the machines, and they both work on this computer. The only change made to the computer was to install McAfee security center through AOL yesterday, but the set up worked all yesterday and last night.
I have 2 units Cisco WLC 5508 running software version 7.0.220 with 70 over units Cisco AP 1262N and 1242AG. Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.
a new LAN installation, two VSS pair 6509 core, 15 closets, with 3750 stacks. Floor 15 only, devices/hosts can ping teh DHCP server but cannot aquire IP addresses. no such problem on other floors?
