I Have a problem I'm trying to configure automatically my switch over ther DHCP when I start the switch it request an IP from the DHCP from here everythings is fine but it does nothing more, indeed I put on my dhcp the option 66 and 67 which is an adress of my TFTP server and a file to download and the switch seems not to understand theses options , I tried my dhcp with a cisco airport and everythings works fine the File from the TFTP is automatically downloaded into the airport...There is an option to add or am I missing something in order to make it work with my switch ?
I coulden't visit any websites and it gave me an "error 105" something. So i tried connecting my other comp to the internet cabel with the same result. So i tried to find a solution on the web (wierless internet still worked) and stumbeld upon a similar problem were the answer was to manually fill in an adress in the "internet protocol version 4" properties in the "local area connection" properties. I then noticed that i dident have the "Obtain DNS server address" set to automatically and that the other manual boxes were empty. I then turned the auto on an i had access to internet. Is this safe? Cause i read somewere that DNS server addresess were provided by the company that provide you your internet service, and that you can be redericted to a fake website that can get a hold of your account information on it
I am setting up a dual WAN network in our small business office and I am confussed on the set up of the RV042.
On WAN1 I have a satellite modem connected
On WAN2 I have a cradlepoint CTR35 Router with a verizon aircard
The satellite has lag issues and will drop out during poor weather but has a 17GB dowload limit. The verizon aircard has only 5GB download limit but normally works in poor weather. Code...
Do I select obtain DNS automatically on both WAN1 and 2? Do I set this up as a gateway or a router?
I have simple set-up in my network with 2 routers connected to each other, 2nd router is just kind of wireless access point and switch to extend cable sockets upstairs.I have DHCP reservation on the first router and it works perfectly. Second router has DHCP server disabled, and I have configured DHCP reservation same as the first router, but it gives random IP addressess instead of reserved. how can I configure second router to obtain MAC DHCP RESERVATION TABLE from the 1st router?

I just bought a Linksys E4200v2 router and updated the firmware to 2.0.26.124551. The DHCP server is turned on however, it won't issue any IP addresses. I have to set IP reservations for all of my devices in order for the router to give them an IP address. This includes my printer, xbox360 and 2 computers. I'm also having this problem with the wired and wireless lan.
I would like to share one problem with WLC 5508 . we added a new virtual interface on the WLC. One new SSID is associated with this interface.
We created a ACL for this interface to restrict the access via WIFI to certian services. It´s not correct that everything works fine because the change were not applied. [code]
The changes of the ACL are applied on the fly, but for reason we don´t know, the clients don´t get a DHCP IP-Address (after changing the ACL) until the Controller is rebooted.
I have an Avaya IP Phone for work. This has been tested at work and works as expected. After the IP Phone boots it's able to obtain an IP address from work. At home when I plug the IP phone into my DIR-655 router, it's unable to obtain an IP address. Other network devices are able to obtain an IP address, for example any computer or laptop. Also my wireless works with no issues expect for the IP phone. I've already done some searching and found other users with the same issue but I haven't been able to find a solution other than setting a static IP address. I'm curious why this relatively new router won't work with an IP phone. I've played with some of the router settings but it didn't make a difference. Any work around to get the DHCP to work? I'm running the latest firmware for my router: 1.35A Hardware Versions: A4.
I have a 24Mbps (my bandwidth) connection, what I need is that all the computers in my network have the same bandwith. Let's say I have 12 computers so I want the 24 mbps divided across the 12 pc, but if I shut down 4 of those computers , I want some sort of software that would be capable of detecting that activity so my 8 remaining Pc will have more bandwith. I don't know If I was clear enough?what I need to know is:
-is the bandwith will automatically divised between computers?
- at least is this scenario possible?
just as information if I want to create a client/server with one server and 12 clients, and the initial bandwidth= 24Mbps, theoretically, how to devise the bandwidth between all clients, and if one client is shutdown, the bandwidth attached to it, will it redistributed between the other clients? if no, what happen with it?
I am struggling with the following issue. I have 6 1130 Accesspoints in lightweight mode connected to a 2106 wlan controller which runs software version 7.0.98.0. Everything seems to work fine. Clients can connect to the wifi network. However, they don't get an ip address from the dhcp server which is on the same subnet as the wlan controller. See attached screenshots for configuration. I have also tried the internal dhcp server of the wlan controller, but the same problem remains.
The logs says: Dropping primary discovery request from AP e8:b7:4x:xx:xx:xx - maximum APs joined 6/6 There are 6 AP's connected
I have two ethernet cards (from same equipment) that arent acquiring IP Address after instalation of WLC 2504.I dont want (yet) to disable DHCP proxy on WLC.

2 days ago, my laptop was connected to my router and working fine. But it then randomly disconnected and haven't been able to connect back since. I am using an ethernet cable to access the internet, and have tried many ways to try and resolve the issue but nothing is working.
I have a Dell L501x (Win 7 64-bit) with the Intel Centrino 1000 BGN wifi card. I have restarted the router and modem and disconnected all devices and tried reconnecting, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers, system restoring and using safe mode (with network) but nothing works. The modem and router are working fine as other devices connect and access the internet, it is just my laptop that cannot.
I am sure it is not a hardware issue as the card detects all the surrounding networks. The troubleshooter only says "An administrator profile failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
I have cisco router C1700. Interface FastEthernet0 is connected to ISP and obtain public IP and DNS via dhcp.On interface FastEthernet1 is connected private network. On router is configured dhcp pool that assigns addresses to private network connected on FastEthernet1. Is there configuration that automatically add the DNS servers from my ISP into the DHCP pool?
Have Win7 and XP systems in my network wire connected to the router. When IP of both systems are not reserved, each computer can see other network computers and devices, five in total.A good thing that both systems get each time same IPs which even got not changed since I upgraded from E1200.When I reserve an IP for each system exactly that they currently have, both systems loose ability to see other network computers. Network shares not affected, I still can remotely access my XP box remotely from my 7 via RDP by computer name. WDTV Live wirelessly connected to the router can get/update its IP address (no connection issues) but same as others cannot see network resources.
Tried different ways, rebooted, finally ended up with device reset pushing the button. The next day I managed to reproduce the issue, but was able to revert by disabling/enabling of DHCP server.Another issue I got with an external HD connected to the router when some files got converted to folders by uTorrent started from that drive.I had to use Unlocker application to be able to delete folders converted. I can just assume that issue because of anonymous access was enabled to the external disk. No problems when same HD connected to PC USB.
Facing a unique problem in my cisco Router (2811) .. Router is well configured but suddenly it stops working , when logged in using console the configuration register is observed to be 0x2142.
How does it automatically changes register value during operation?
We have upgraded our gateway router from a Cisco Linksys RVL200 to a Cisco 861, this is a big jump from a GUI driven system to IOS CLi and i'm having issue finding my feet. I tried the Cisco CP system but it didn't work so I'm going to configure it with IOS commands. I wish to replicate the current configuration on the 200 with the following setup.
I have created a DHCP pool but i am unable to configure the FastEthernet ports to hand out address automatically, the pool is called USERS with range 192.168.1.30 -> 192.168.1.253.How do I work out the client-identifier for a DHCP client, I don't want to plug this into the network and manual reconnect all the PC's just to get the ID then make a static route.
I'm trying to configure a dhcp service on a router for some vlans.I would like to give the range 172.16.0.0 - 172.16.10.255 to vlan 10, 172.16.20.0 - 172.16.20.255 to vlan 20.for some reason it doesn't work?here's the config.

I have struck in my some network configuration. I have two sf300 switches and cisco 827 router. Actually sf300 does not support dhcp server. I took cisco 827 as dhcp server and i create 4 dhcp pools in it. How i can configure in sf300 to take dhcp service from cisco router 827. Isit possible to configure 827 with bvi interface, when i was try i got below error. how to configure bvi interface and i will link that bvi to vlan on sf300. error in 827 router, How i can connect two sf300 switch for redundancy ? I connected giga4 SW1 and giga4 SW2 and mode trunk isit good or any other way i need to connect it.?
I'm configuring a Cisco 877 router as my firewall. My WAN IP will be assigned dynamically with DHCP. I will also get my default route from DHCP.I will need to configure ip inspection and packet filtering.I will need to configure NAT, I will eventually need to also configure a dial-up VPN.
My XP laptops cannot connect to my TEW-639GR router over wifi. I get the "Limited or No Connectivity Message". The same 2 XP laptops can connect if they are wired without problems. My Ubuntu computer can connect to wifi and wired without problem."Limited or No Connectivity" usually means a DHCP problem in XP. I have DHCP turned on on my router. This problem did not immediately start when I first set up the TEW-639GR. It happened infrequently on my XP laptops initially for about 2 months but now it happens all the time.

I am using DHCP/TFTP to autoconfigure a 3945 router. The router properly obtains an IP address and finds the correct TFTP server. The issue lies in the download of the configuration file from the TFTP server. The router downloads the file, gives the "Ok" message, and prompts you to press Return to get started. When I view the running-config, several commands are missing from the Serial 0/0/0 section (HWIC-2T). If I modify the config file on the TFTP server to use Serial 0/0/1 instead and repeat the process, the configuration file loads without any issues and Serial 0/0/1 has all of the commands.
I also tried moving syntax around in my config file, but the end result is still the same. If I use Serial0/0/0 - I don't get all of the commands. If I use Serial 0/0/1, I do.
Netgear DG834 allocates IP Addresses using DHCP to 5 computers and 2 tills, the tills addresses and one computer IP addreess are reserved and fixed, so that data can be downloaded from the tills to this computer. However I had to re-format the computer and the Router now allocates a new IP address to it, which the tills cannot recognise, so I cannot download the data from the tills to the computer. Is it possible to change the newly allocated Computer IP address in the Router back to the old one.
I need to connect 3 computers in local lan by using ipsec on win7. How can I do that? I tried to do something from windows firewall; but I see incorrect header checksum errors in wireshark.
I am administering a Catalyst 2960S switch and I would like to connect several computers to it. Some of those each have a static IP address. For a few of them, I would like the switch to dynamically assign an IP address to them via DHCP. Is the switch capable of doing this? If so, how can I do it? I tried looking through Cisco Network Assistant and I couldn't find it. Some web pages have suggested I telnet into the switch and issue commands like "ip dhcp ?" to see what commands are possible. I can telnet in and if I type but I get an "Unrecognized command" for both "ip ?" and "ip dhcp ?". This makes me think I'm reading the wrong web pages. I did come across the term "DHCP snooping". It seems relevant, but very difficult for me to grasp.
Currently i have multiple computers that are connect via lan with ip addresses(static) that are connected to a cisco router. My question to you, how do you assign more ip addresses to computers on the lan.
