View 4 Replies View RelatedI can not connect to the internet either by WiFi or ethernet connection on my XPS L501X 64bit running Windows 7. This problem suddenly occurred after a failed microsoft update. The Action Centre lists a number of problems including;
Host Process for Windows Services........................................Windows Update installation problem
Microsoft Malware Protection Command Line Utility (3).......Mp Telemetry
Microsoft Management Console...............................................Stopped working
Network Diagnostics Framework (4).......................................Unable to diagnose/repair problems
Windows Wireless Lan 802.11 Extensibility Framework....Stopped working
I can copy the technical details to Notepad and send them if this would be useful in determining the problem and finding a solution.
Of course, with no internet connection, I have been unable to report the problems, check for solutions or run any online diagnostics and am using another laptop to communicate.
I have downloaded and installed the latest WiFi adaptor (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000) and driver to no avail. I used the Intel updater wizard thingy which uninstalled the old adaptor and installed the new one. I have not updated the Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller driver, but when I click on update driver, it indicates the the latest driver is installed. All devices are listed as working properly.
A while ago (around 5 months) my wireless card suddenly stopped working for no reason whatsoever. Since then I had been using a usb wifi dongle but I got sick of that so decided to find out what the problem was. All my drivers where up to date, I re-installed everything, no luck. Opened the laptop up to find the wireless card had burnt out. Ordered a new one from Amazon (It was legit, more expensive than ebay ones) Put the new one in everything worked fine, wireless back on as normal, now 3 days later, wireless randomly turned of again, smelled burning inside my laptop, opened it up and the new wireless card had burnt out again. My friend thinks its the circuit. I had defiantly connected everything properly as I have taken many laptops apart.
The network card is: Model: 622ANHMWIntel Centrino Advanced N6200
Everything else on the laptop works perfect.
I intend to upgrade to a dual band router and would like to replace the 1000 with a 6300. I need an extra antenna for the 6300, as I do not have a WWAN or Tv tuner fitted, is it possible to utilise the spare antenna for the 6300? If this is possible, I have read about white lists in the bios causing boot up error messages when using alternate cards, if purchased from Dell, will this be a problem?
View 2 Replies View Related2 days ago, my laptop was connected to my router and working fine. But it then randomly disconnected and haven't been able to connect back since. I am using an ethernet cable to access the internet, and have tried many ways to try and resolve the issue but nothing is working.
I have a Dell L501x (Win 7 64-bit) with the Intel Centrino 1000 BGN wifi card. I have restarted the router and modem and disconnected all devices and tried reconnecting, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers, system restoring and using safe mode (with network) but nothing works. The modem and router are working fine as other devices connect and access the internet, it is just my laptop that cannot.
I am sure it is not a hardware issue as the card detects all the surrounding networks. The troubleshooter only says "An administrator profile failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
I have a laptop just configured with XP SP3 and the wifi works fine, except at the users house on a linksys router, hosted by comcast. The unit can not see the router right next to it and the wifi can see several other routers in the area. We tryed to use the microsoft install wifi driver with the same problem! My question is can the router be blocking my laptop out? Laptopis a G device and the router is an N device but works with another laptop in the house.
The difference could be the incription used laptop uses 128 and the router is set to 64?
I am using a Dell XPS 12 on Windows 8 Pro and I am unable to connect to my house's wifi. However I am able to connect to my iphone's personal hotspot. is it probably my house's wireless is not compatible with Windows 8 Pro? I have searched for drivers but to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've bought a second hand Dell Mini 910 and when I tried to get online it kept saying to change the settings on Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC). I goggled it and checked the box in Network Connections. It allow Windows to configure my wireless network connections and I run Wireless Zero Configuration and selected Automatic. It will now pick up connections and allows me to connect but when I go into Internet Explorer still no joy so I've gone into Internet Options and LAN settings and clicked to Automatically detect settings but still no joy, I also have to do the above each blooming time I restart the net book. I've tried IE and Google Chrome and I've run diagnostics and they said to check with XP help etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently changed modems because of ongoing issues with Mediacom's loaner. I now have a Motorolla SB6121 and use an Airport Extreme router. I've used the Dell in the passed with the apple router, and several different modems and all was fine... but for some reason this hookup is not working for my Dell Studio. It sees the network, but will not connect to it. I did nothing different other than plug everything in. No other computer has an issue with this connection - only the Dell.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMid-day Thursday one of the laptops in my office suddenly was unable to identify the wireless network.
I have had this problem in the past with the other Dell laptop. Both are Windows 7. Tried uninstalling the adapter 4 times now. Changed SSIDs on my network. Added a SSID. Nothing works.
I am able to identify and get online if I put the IP address and DNS server in. Nothing I do lets it use DHCP.

i have 2 dell computers (and more but just worried about these two for now)... mainpc and sparepc, i had sparepc hooked to my tv and all pc's in the house, and a tv, networked to it... it all worked great, after a few minutes of setting it up... and then the hard drive crashed on spare pc and i got a new one, installed windows again both pc's use the same installation disk both pc's are hooked to a workswitch, which is hooked to a uverse gateway (router)... but it should be noted that hooking everything to wireless changes nothing... i get the same results can reach out to anything in the house and network great... but nothing can connect to sparepc... it keeps asking for username/password, even tho none is set I've gone through all the file sharing, homegroup, and folder options... ive reset ownership on folders and permissions... ive tried making/changing user profiles... but i cannot get from mainpc to sparepc home group does not work because the network does not work. as soon as the network works, homegroup will spring to life (at least, thats what happened the last time) if i right click on a folder, go to properties, share tab, and hit the share button... it asks for permissions for users... i set them, hit share, and it comes up and says, "you cant share this folder" ... with no explanation

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless network using an Apple Airport router. There is an iMac, an IBM Think Pad and a Dell XPS 410 tower (both running XP) on the network and all were working until this week. All of a sudden I can not get on the internet with the Dell PC. When I try to log into the router, it searches for a connection, but never is able to attain one. My network is displayed and I am using WPA security and have been entering the correct key. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but with no success. I believe I was able to access a local unprotected site, but after being connected a pass word was required. I also tried ipconfig, but it just flashed on and then immediately off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to connect to the internet in wireless mode. It shows the available networks, but does not connect when I type in my router password. I have tried everything I know of. Uninstalled/Reinstalled the driver - I have an Intel 5100 AGN wireless driver installed. I disabled and enabled it. Didn't work. Running command prompt and typing in ipconfig /all doesn't detect my adapter device.
I also did these by running command prompt as an administrator: [code] and restarted my computer. I have a Dell Studio 1555 with Win 7 (32-bit) Professional. I know this is a problem with my Windows as the wireless works seamlessly in my Ubuntu.

I have checked whether the drivers are up to date and it says they are.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI am now unable to access the internet with my Dell 560 running windows7. I have Verizon Fios for internet access. Windows network diagnostics reports that the connection between my access point, router or cable modem and the internet is broken and the network gateway is accessible but windows could not receive network traffic from the internet. Verizon's in-house -agent reports that there seems a connection problem between my router and the wall jack. I am able to access the internet with another computer and the the same router. I also have no problems with my iPad. I have interchanged cables and ports on the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 570 Inspiron desktop running win7 home premium w/ a 64 bit OS. I have Frontier dsl with a Westell 327W modem and a netgear router. Two desktops are connected to the internet...one through the modem and the Dell 570 through the router. I also run laptops through the router w/no problem. This morning the dsl went down, and when it came back up, the Dell 570 would not connect. i tried Diagnosing Connection Problems, and I'm told to turn off the modem/router (which I have done a gazillion times). When I look at Network Connections in the Control Panel, It tells me I have an unidentified network and can't connect. I read through some forums earlier, and found that releasing and renewing ipconfig often corrects the problem, and that's when I got the message that 'An error occurred while nenewing. Local Area Connection unable to contact DHCP server.' This set up has worked for the past year and a half. I looked at the network adapter, and it says it's working properly. I changed the cables going to the machines, and they both work on this computer. The only change made to the computer was to install McAfee security center through AOL yesterday, but the set up worked all yesterday and last night.

All desktops and laptops in my house which are windows based are unable to connect to the internet, only the apple based ones are connecting fine. My problem is similar to the one craigs248 posted here [url]... I did have mcafee for my dell but i have turned it off and yet im still unable to access the internet, furthermore all the other windows- based desktops in my household are unable to connect to the internet.
Now that the wireless on my Dell XPS 15 Z is fine, I've run into some problems with internet connectivity with Ethernet cable. Since the beginning, I wasn't able to connect to it through cable. When I connect my laptop with the cable, it says that it's connected, and that it has an internet connection. However, I can't get on it... My browsers don't have internet, and other programs can't connect either. (that while it says that it's connected to internet, quite strange)... I was thinking of some security adjustment that might block the internet connection or something, I don't know.
Oh, something that I should mention... I was able to get internet through Ethernet cable when there was a firewall... But when there's no security to the network... It isn't possible to have internet and it gives the situation described above. (any other laptop can connect with the network, so there must be some adjustment issue...)
I have a Inspiron 8000 and I just formatted the hard drive. I had been using a D-link wireless USB adapter with a D-Link wireless router - with no problems, but now when I try to reinstall the usb wireless adapter it asks for a hard wired connection to the router and even then it won't install and will not connect wirelessly or with the network cable. it seems the internal Dell network adapter has been affected in some way and will not work - as you can see I don't have alot of pc savy..?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110, using a TrendNet Wireless Adapter, and using SkyWeb Internet Service. My laptop is a little over a year old.On April 30, 2012, I had to have my hard drive and motherboard replaced by Dell due to some issues. It was replaced, but directly afterwards, I couldn't connect to my wireless internet when I was more than five feet away. I have contacted Dell several times about this and each time they give me the same answer:
Reset/Uninstall the current connection, reconnect to the connection, and allow it to connect.
Each time, it wouldn't work. Finally, after calling for the seventh or eighth time, I was told that perhaps my wireless card was bad (which I had suggested before, but the Dell employees told me that wasn't possible). So a Dell Dispatcher was sent to my house, my dispatch number being <Admin Note:dispatch number removed per privacy policy~RK> and my technician was Will. He replaced my WiFi card, ran an EPSA diagnostics test, to which all tests passed, and still couldn't get my Internet to connect. We were less than twenty feet away. He tried to suggest that perhaps it was because the wall was decreasing the signal, but that is not possible since my sister (who owns a Dell laptop herself) can connect just fine from anywhere in our home. He called Dell himself, who was told that I (the customer) should contact tech support.
I contacted Dell support and was told to contact the wireless division, who has told me to the same thing as stated above (reset, re-install, connect). I was told to turn off the power saving feature under my wireless networks in device manager. That seemed to do the trick for a few hours. Then, it went back to cutting in and out. I can't go more than five feet from my wifi adapter anymore when I used to be able to go outside with it. My sister (as mentioned before) tested this a few days ago. I have installed numerous drivers, and I'm not even sure whether I need them or if they're even working.
