I have an inspiron 3520 pre installed with Windows 8. the problem is that I cannot locate where to connect to a wi-fi network. it never appears on the networks window at the taskbar. where exactly can i find it?

The message I'm getting is that the DW WLAN Card is still disabled and to use the DW WLAN Utility to enable it. There is no icon in my notification area and I cannot seem to locate this "Utility". I'm assuming I'm missing a driver.

My wireless signal is horrible...it only has one bar, maybe two, and sometimes none at all...and it is right beside my router. My old Toshiba lap top that is ten years old has a complete full signal. I can not find a solution to this, I am ready to take this Dell back and get another Toshiba.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on my second 3520 Laptop (first one purchsed in November 2012, returned last week) and the same problem is happening. This is that after every Windows Update I am unable to connect to the Internet. Wi-Fi checks out and used by other PC's in the house, I thought I'd cured it recently by being able to go in and sign into Mcafee (22/1) then an update on 23/1 and BAM! No Internet, no way can I get into McAfee to sign in, and the only options are restore to 21/1 (did that still no joy) or back to Factory (23/12/12) and re-install Office 2010 AGAIN! I have spent over £10 in calling the Dell Premium line, I have emailed the Support Director who arranged the laptop swap and still have this problem. I have posted it on Windows 8 forums, other forums I can find, Googled 'No Internet after Windows8 updates' 'till the cows come home, have gone back to Factory about 10 times over the 2 machines, tried to create Restore points myself but they disappear after the updates, all very frustrating. I 'could' get a refund but this is the 6th Dell machine we've had and I like the support. This machine, like 2 others (1 on Vista about to be upgraded to Win7 the other just upgraded) this new one will be used in a church based Debt Advice charity so eventually will be in a cupboard and used every Wednesday by an admin volunteer. It will be a terrible pain to have this trouble as she's not that young nor a PC expert so I need a seamless, invisible solution that will work without a hitch like all updates in XP, Vista and Win7.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Dell Inspiron 3520 (service code: <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>) which came with Ubuntu. Although I had to install windows 7 32 bit and I am facing a driver issue with wireless adapter. When I try to connect to the preferred network I get "Unidentified Network - No Internet Access".
I know this is a driver problem because it works well on Ubuntu. So as the original configuration from Dell site lists: "WIRELESS : DELL WIRELESS 1703 CARD"
so I downloaded this driver : {URL}, with no success. Is there anything I can do?
Wednesday 12-12-12, purchased a Dell Inspiron 3520 with Windows 8. Installed Win 7 Home Professional and downloaded drivers for network communications. All loaded except Network Controller & BCM43142A0.I have tapped Fn + F2 (to turn on wireless) Device Manager has a yellow ! on these.Trying to update driver over Internet or HDD gets = Windows could not find driver software for your device.
When I go to Network locations to connect to a network, it says, "No connections available".When I click properties for "Network Controller", I get PCI bus 7, device 0, function 0, No driver selected Code 28 Laptop only works with wired connection?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Connectifyme (Connectify for Windows - Turn your Laptop or Smartphone into a Secure Wi-Fi Hotspot) so that I could broadcast a wifi signal for my phone. Testing at home, I used it to repeat my router and connect through my computer. But when I took the laptop to the place at which I primarily need the utility (I have access to ethernet but no wifi), and used it to broadcast an unprotected ad-hoc ethernet->wireless network. Since using it in this way, my laptop has been unable to locate my home router, or my college's public wifi, though it is able to locate networks which either I am unable to connect to, or do not supply wifi internet. I tried making a ticke on connectifyme's support page, but after something like a week I've yet to get a reply. Uninstalling connectify did nothing, nor have I been able to find any issues with the network card or windows not recognizing the card. I'll be using windows 7 default utility to see how that works, but I first need to be able to reconnect to networks I know are in range.

When I try to create a new internet connection via Control Panel / Internet settings etc, it displays no internet wireless networks. Every other laptop in the house can find the wireless broadband. And Its working fine most of the time but my problem or question is this, I play the WII online and its wireless through the router.I have a friend that is local in my town and we try to play online and it will never let us team up, and if we try it never lets us assign a host. I can play otherwise when i connect and search for a game in progress but if I send him an invite it will not let us team up and either host a game or join a game.
Ive done some research and Ive went in and add my WIIS MAC address into the DHCP and assigned it an IP address in the router and the WII, and it worked at first, we finally were able to join into a game on the same team, but its still not letting one of us host or, it keeps telling us unable to locate a host. Im wondering if I should put his MAC address in my DHCP and assign him a IP address?

I am unable to locate my wireless adapter on IBM Thinkpad R50 after I had to re-install Windows XP. It was not the cd that goes to the laptop, as I did not have one because I bought the laptop used. I went to the Lenovo website and have installed just about every driver on support page and still NOTHING.

We're about to change main desktop computer to an iMac (2011 refurb, won't be running Lion which I know there's issues with as far as Cisco Connect), give the 2006 Dell to kids and get rid of the old 2003 box. I cannot locate my installation CD, I'm sure it's somewhere in our rather cluttered computer area, although I understand I can download what I need. This probably is a dufus question, and I apologize in advance, it's just not clicking in my mind, but basically am I going to have to go back to step one, just like the first day I set up the router, as far as setting up our network?

So I decided to by Vista ultimate on it, which installed fine and seems to work great but I can't seem to install or find a driver for my network controller. I am pretty sure it is a Broadcom Corp BCM4310 USB Controller, but when I go into my control panel it doesnt seem to recognize it.And for some reason I can't locate the driver on Dell's website.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer.Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer.All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I had to reinstall the hardware for a driver for my internet connection. Now it's asking me for the security key and we don't remember it and can't locate it. How can I find it, over-ride it, or establish a new one?

The unit can not see the router right next to it and the wifi can see several other routers in the area. We tryed to use the microsoft install wifi driver with the same problem! My question is can the router be blocking my laptop out? Laptopis a G device and the router is an N device but works with another laptop in the house.
The difference could be the incription used laptop uses 128 and the router is set to 64?
