View 1 RepliesThe following error was seen on the switch and the Diagnostic Test Loop back failed following a new WS-6748-SFP module installation.Fabric in slot 5 detected excessive flow-control on channel 3 (Module 4, fabric connection 1)
Tried Hard reset of the module and still the error persist.
I connects to the wireless box and has full signal but an exclamation mark is present.I have run some tests and the IPv4 and IPv6 say they have no internet access.I also run a full test and everything passed except the ping test which failed and it said: no response:default gateway response: dhcp server it suggested disabling security firewall but i'm not sure if that's the correct thing to do or even how to do that!
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron Win 7 equipped computer cannot connect to the Internet. I have a DSL router that I can wirelessly connect to, but it says no Internet access. I used the manual Intel Wireless Manual Diagnostic Tools to test my system and failed the ping test. Dialog box says "no response, default gateway,DHCP server" and indicates the ping test failed.I have checked my router and it is working nominally; other laptops in my family have Internet access just fine. My Intel Centrino Wireless N 1030 adapter is working fine. I detect no other hardware problems on my laptop.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have "Xtreme" internet service with Time Warner Cable, and it isn't so Xtreme. The modem/wireles router is the Ubee DDW3611.I was doing some work earlier this morning, and the lawn mower guy was here in the back doing his thing. All of a sudden the internet goes out. I see that damn dreaded yellow exclamation mark in the taskbar superimposed over the wireless internet icon. My first thought was that the lawn dude ran over some wires.I went outside to see if any wires were exposed or had been damaged. I noticed about a yard of wire was exposed above ground, but did not appear to have any damage.Anyway, I've been trying for the past few hours to fix this darn thing (before the technician gets here around 4pm). I've tried all the simple stuff like reset the modem, restart, mess with dns settings, but I have no idea where to go after this.
Here is what I get when I go to cmd > ipconfig /all:

View 2 Replies View Related2 days ago, my laptop was connected to my router and working fine. But it then randomly disconnected and haven't been able to connect back since. I am using an ethernet cable to access the internet, and have tried many ways to try and resolve the issue but nothing is working.
I have a Dell L501x (Win 7 64-bit) with the Intel Centrino 1000 BGN wifi card. I have restarted the router and modem and disconnected all devices and tried reconnecting, but to no avail. I have tried updating the drivers, system restoring and using safe mode (with network) but nothing works. The modem and router are working fine as other devices connect and access the internet, it is just my laptop that cannot.
I am sure it is not a hardware issue as the card detects all the surrounding networks. The troubleshooter only says "An administrator profile failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
i am facing the same problem now but am using windows 2003 server

I read this statement at maheez.com "Solution for requesting pages is set up your own DNS server, with is kinda complicated (basically what happens, is instead of asking some remote server (takes time) for the site IP needed to connect to, youll request it on your own pc, giving you a higher site access speed).

Just in case though, I want to know if there's actually something wrong with my laptop rather than their equipment.

we have two servers in our network, one functions as a file server (windows server 2008) and the other as a domain controller with active directory and some database applications running on it (windows SBS 2003). the file server has folders for the different units in our company, these are shared folders. these folders can be accessed by anyone with a domain login by running \servername from their computers, without any further authentication required.
i have tried to set up sharing restrictions with no success, for example the Accounts folder, i right click on it and select properties, and the sharing or security. under both tabs i added three names of those that i want to have access to the folder. these names appear in the sharing list together with:administrator(servernameadministrator) administrators (servernameadministrators) administrator systemeveryone has not been added as is the case with all other folders. what is this system on the list? how i can restrict access, perhaps there is a setting that i have missed or settings in the network that prevent these restrictions?
how do I set up a test domain? I'm running Server 2008 std and have not gotten the DNS server configured right. I'm looking for a guide to take me through the process so I can experience success and get the feel of a working LAN.

I bought some days ago Tp-Link Wireless Router (Model TL-WR740N - 150 Mbps - Ver 4.23) but I couldn't install it: when I do Easy Setup Assistant, the network status test always fails because of absence of connectivity. I can see that there are some problems by the lights of the router: the WLAN light switches on, as the WAN light and the LAN light, instead of being flashed. I tried to do the installation without cd but, clicking on 192.168.1.1, I didn't find the page to access to web console but the Telecom page of the status of my connexion (nb: it reports that ethernet is unplugged).
i want to setup DHCP using my windows xp
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows xp computer can't connect to the DHCP server correctly and thus can't connect to the internet. It is connected through an Ethernet cable to a wireless router. All other computers on the same network connect fine to the router, both wired and wireless. This all started after I left my computer alone for a few hours and came back with it not coming out of idle. After shutting it off and turning it back on, it would not connect to the DHCP server. It assigned me the autoconfig address 169.254.189.73 because it couldn't connect to the DHCP server. I even tried a static IP but even that wouldn't fix it. I have tried the same ethernet cable in another computer and it worked fine so I know that it is because of my computer.I have tried renewing and releasing the connection using ipconfig in the command prompt but that did nothing. The settings are all the same as the other computers running through the same router. I have tried shutting down all the other computers and reconnecting the trouble one but again still nothing. The last thing I'm not sure about is the network adapter driver. I have reinstalled it but I'm not sure if the driver is correct. I have an NVIDEA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet adapter. I attempted to reinstall but I'm not sure I selected the correct generation when I downloaded the driver installer. My computer says nothing about the generation of the adapter so I just chose the newest generation. My adapter is integrated in the motherboard.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a machine with Windows Server 2003 running an Exchange Server in a office with 5 workstations attached. The server is being used for a basic outlook calendar across the various workstations, nothing major. Our current ISP provides us with a Static IP address. The party that installed and configured the server set it up to run the DHCP server on the server PC itself. As in, the machine running windows server is also running a software DHCP server for the entire network. THE SETUP: As of right now we have a wall port (internet access) with a cable running to a 8 port unmanaged netgear switch that has cables hooked up to the 5 workstations as well as the server itself. Pretty simple.THE QUESTION: How do I configure the ISP static settings on the DHCP Server portion of the Server PC? We may be getting a new ISP with a dynamic address OR a new static address. WHAT I'VE TRIED: I've tried configuring the IP address on the Server PC the way I would via the NIC adapter settings but it already has a internal IP address from the DHCP Server running on that PC so changing that was no good.

I want to set up a domain for a file server and MS SQL 2005 server on my server machine and installed windows server 2008 in it.
Do I need to set up DHCP server and DNS on Windows server 2008R2 or leave them to the router to do the job?
I'm setting up an ACE 4710 in our test lab before deploying in production. Do the test web servers I am using need to use the ACE as their default gateway? The are currently configured to use a multilayer switch on their vlan as their gateway but I'm guessing the ACE needs to see the return traffic for load balancing to work correctly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have trouble with a Cisco 892 Router from my Internet service provider.
Last week we switched from a virtual Router to a hardware Router. But after plugging it in our LAN Switch, the Windows DHCP Server stopped leasing IP's. I got many BAD_ADDRESS with MAC like e1:80:10:ac, e2:80:10:ac, e3:80:10:ac, e4:80:10:ac, e5:80:10:ac, ea:80:10:ac, eb:80:10:ac, ec:80:10:ac and so on.
I do not have access to the Router config, so I can not dump the config to you. We have a flat LAN, single SUB-Net(172.16.0.0/16) and no VLAN, no Spanning Tree. A Keep it Simple, Stupid(KISS) System.
A tech guy from service provider, is telling us, the error is not there fault and my switch is not correctly configured. But this is ********. For years we had a another Cisco Router from the precursor ISP and for 2 years the virtual Router from our current ISP. No trouble with my DHCP. But after plugging the new Router in, my DHCP stopped working. On the 892 is no running DHCP, but something interferences with my Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 DHCP Server.
