How do i get the 12.4 code to assign a dhcp address to my ethernet interface from my server? I deleted the default config on the 1141 and searching has not turned up anything useful.

The LAN is 192.168.2.x. The RVS4000 static IP address is 192.168.2.8
The router is not the RVS4000 and is at 192.168.2.1
The RVS4000 dhcp is assigning it's clients a default gateway of 192.168.2.8 instead of what I want 192.168.2.1. How can I get the RVS4000's DHCP server to assign another IP address other than its own as the default gateway to its DHCP clients?
I know DHCP can assign more than just address, mask, and gateway. It can also assign a hostname, and DNS. Does anybody know if it can also be used to assign an SNMP address?

My customer wants each ACE4710 (of a highly available cluster) to have its own, dedicated port for management purposes.
According to documentation, IP addressing can be applied to VLAN interfaces, so in order to satisfy the requirement, I should make one port belong to an "access VLAN X", and then apply IP addressing to the corresponding "interface VLAN X". This should satisfy my customer´s requirement in an indirect way.
But... ¿ Can´t I just configure IP address on one of the 4 ethernet ports in order to save the work of building the aforementioned VLAN? I am asking this since I do not have access to a real box in order to verify.
I am administering a Catalyst 2960S switch and I would like to connect several computers to it. Some of those each have a static IP address. For a few of them, I would like the switch to dynamically assign an IP address to them via DHCP. Is the switch capable of doing this? If so, how can I do it? I tried looking through Cisco Network Assistant and I couldn't find it. Some web pages have suggested I telnet into the switch and issue commands like "ip dhcp ?" to see what commands are possible. I can telnet in and if I type but I get an "Unrecognized command" for both "ip ?" and "ip dhcp ?". This makes me think I'm reading the wrong web pages. I did come across the term "DHCP snooping". It seems relevant, but very difficult for me to grasp.

Cisco 1141 Autonomous WAP with only private wireless access.
ASA 5505 (with very basic licensing)
HP switch
The customer wants to have guest WiFi.
The guest WiFi is going out to the internet via a seperate VLAN/interface on the ASA. Can the 1141 do DHCP for the guest WiFi? Or do I need to do it via the ASA?
I upgraded my SG500 switch firmware to 1.3.0.59, since there is a new functionality DHCP server v.4 well I must say I came accross the issue I cannot solve. DHCP server assign dynamic address - no hassles. troubles start with static IP hosts.I defined a couple of hosts with static address within the correct subnet. I tried with hardware address and client identifiers. no luck. my switch does not assign the IP address I assigned to the suitable mac address. to define it I use both CLI & Web.

I'm setting up a Cisco Aironet 1141 (standalone mode, AP) to handle wireless traffic in the office. It gives out 2 mbssids, one of which authenticates domain users through a RADIUS server and places them in an appropriate VLAN (RADIUS options 64, 65, and 81). The other is a guest ssid that uses WPA-PSK and places users in the restricted guest VLAN. Physically, the AP is connected to a 3750 PoE Catalyst, to which RADIUS and DHCP servers are also connected. AP, SSIDs, RADIUS and EAP authentication all work. The configuration given below is a working configuration. People do get authenticated and do get placed in the appropriate vlan. The problem is that, once authenticated, the "Obtaining IP Address" phase on the client hangs and most clients timeout without getting an IP address. Given that the DHCP server is on the same switch and a test simple ASUS Wi-Fi IP gives out the same scenario (except the multiple VLAN) at the speed of light, I don't think that it's a problem with the network connections between clients and the DHCP server. After reading some topics here, I realized that probably other communication will be extremely slow, as well, but haven't tested that for sure. Clients are all non-Cisco - smartphones, notebooks, etc. Most of them are 802.11G, not N.

Is it problem with iPads or LAP1141n?WLC 4404 and many 1142 and 1141, so other devices laptops, iphones, androind phone works as well.But iPad authorized, but can't get an ip address from dhcp server (dhcp not local on wlc, on windows machine) with coverage lap1141, but it get ip with coverage lap1142, and when i got it i roaming to lap1141 and it stays, if i off/on iPads can't get it again from lap1141.

Some of wireless clients having problem to get the correct IP address from the DHCP server. There are 2 units of Microsoft DHCP. Both DHCP server ip have been configured on the Interface at the WLC. The core switch also being configured with ip helper. I've attached the debug output of one of the wireless client during the problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running a system that requires a third (and potentially fourth) DHCP server to be setup on each network in my network. The first two devices are Windows DHCP servers serving IPs from different address ranges for failover. The third DHCP is just a listener to receive OS information and device names to be logged in a database.
Currently this works like a charm for my wired clients as I can add in the third and fourth ip helper-address on each vlan and the information is received by the listeners. However, I cannot find anywhere in my WLC5500 to setup these extra two DHCP helper addresses.
The wireless vlan on my layer 3 switch has all the ip helper-addresses, but this doesn't seem to work, and the devices just use the DHCP servers set on the interface in the WLC.

However, we cannot get it to work.We can't use DHCP Relay, as the ASA 5505 only allows to relay to DHCP servers in a different subnet.Or do we have to move the DHCP server to a different subnet. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?

2 brand new Vostro 270s straight out of the box both have the same problem. (Windows 7 PRO)
These are connected to a wired LAN, the NIC fails to find the dhcp server and get itself an ip address. The network cable & port work fine with any other PC. If I change the properties in the NIC to a static IP address it works fine.
I have tried every Realtek driver I can find, both from DELL and Realtek, no difference.
I have wiped one of the machines and re-installed a fresh copy of Win 7, then the chipset drivers (from the DELL supplied CD) - no difference.
The 1130ag was the LAP model but I upgraded it to run in autonomous mode. My understanding is that it cannot assign IP addresses but I just want that confirmed. It is not connected to a WLC nor a server that can do DHCP.
