Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5550 - Cannot Ping SITE 1 PIX From Internal IP
Oct 15, 2012
We have two networks HQ and Site1 and for some reason we can’t ping the inside IP for Site1 PIX device. We have site-site-VPN set up between the two and everything works fine except we can’t ping the Site1 PIX from internal IP. However, I can ASDM/SSH in from HQ to the external IP of the Site1 PIX.
HQ is using an ASA 5550 (172.1.0.1) PC from HQ (172.1.64.x) Site1 is using a PIX-515E (172.2.0.1) PC from Site1 (172.2.64.x)
Ping from HQ PC to Site1 PC (172.1.64.x to 172.2.64.x) works fine
Ping from Site1 PC to HQ PC (172.2.64.x to 172.1.64.x) works fine
[code]...
ASDM/SSH from any HQ PC to Site1 PIX internal IP (172.1.64.x to 172.2.0.1) doesn’t work
ASDM/SSH from any HQ PC to Site1 PIX external IP (172.1.64.x to Site1 external IP) works fine
Everything was working fine until we recently changed the outside IP address for Site1 because we switch to a different ISP. Nothing changed on the HQ ASA or Site1 PIX other than the outside IP address on Site1 PIX. I did rebuild the site-to-site VPN tunnel between Site1 and HQ.

I have the following VPN site-2-site configuration. The trouble I'm having is host 172.168.88.3 in site A is not able to ping 172.168.200.3 in site B and visa versa. Think I have added the static routes and ACLs correctly on the 3560 switches (acting as gateways) and both PIX's to access the internal networks. Host 172.168.9.3 can ping 172.168.200.3 fine.

I am trying think of a better way to provide redundancy on some internally protected networks. We maintain our own WAN/backbone between our primary site and backup site. Is it possible to have two Cisco ASA 5550s in setup for failover at completely different sites as long the networks connected are available?

I just setup my home network with Pix 515 acting as my router/firewall but I can't seem to ping my internal PC from my ASA. I can access the internet and ping my Pix 515 inside interface from my pc but I can't ping my pc from my Pix 515. I can also renew/release IP's from my PC. I also did a packet tracer and it says that it was dropped due to an access list but I have one in place. Also my switch has the default config. Below is my config
Internet <----> Comcast modem <-----> Pix 515 <-------> Cisco switch <-----> PC
MYFIREWALL# sh run

We recently purchased an SRP527W router because of its capability to configure site-site VPN tunnels. The configuration of IKE and IPSEC is working and the tunnel comes up but the problem is that the router is passing our internal IP addresses through the tunnel. The remote end we are connecting to requires us to hide all traffic behind one IP address which would ideally be our external static IP address from our ISP.

I have 3 ASA 5505 Firewall, I am creating Site 2 Site Full mesh tunnel with each firewall, the problem i am facing is two of the firewalls internal schema are same, Like Site 1 has an Internal Schema: 192.168.0.0, Site 2 has an Internal Schema 192.168.0.0, Site has an Internal Schema 10.10.10.0

I configurred a access-list like below,
access-list vpn_ih_site3_site1 permit ip 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0access-list vpn_ih_site3_site2 permit ip 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0

AT site A, I have Vlan's 652-10.55.216.0/24, Vlan653 -10.55.217.0/24, Vlan 654-10.55.217.0/24 and Vlan655-10.55.219.0/24 and at site B, Vlan650-10.55.214.0/24 and Vlan651-10.55.215.0/24.The problem is that I am unable to get any associations when i do a "sh crypto isakmp sa"/"sh crypto ipsec sa" on either router at each site.I am also unable to ping by pluging in a laptop into the site at each site. Laptop at site A is set to access vlan 655 and laptop at site B is set to acess vlan 651. I can ping all the devices from one end to the other.I have turned on debug crypto isakmp, debug crypto ipsec, debug crypto ipsec errors but dont get anything at all as output.I have attached the sh run for each router Cisco (1941/K9) and switch (Catalyst 3750) at each site.

I have two Cisco routers - 2911 in HQ and RV180 in branch office. Because in HQ LAN network I have some development servers, to which guys from branch office need to have acces, I decided to setup VPN site-to-site between HQ and branch office. Everything went quite smoothly, on both devices I see, that ipsec connection is established. Unfortunately I am not able to ping resources from one network to other one and vice versa. Below is the configuration of 2911 router (I skipped som unimportant (imho) configuration directives) :
crypto isakmp policy 1

I have a very basic lab site to site vpn setup where I have a ASA 5505 running v7.2(4) on one side and a cisco 2811 on the other side.
What's my issue?
I can't seem to ping from cisco router to the 'inside' network of ASA (see config below) and can't seem to ping from ASA packets leaving the 'inside' interface to cisco router even w/ an ICMP ACL permit outside in. However I'm able to ping within ASA inside network & ping cisco 2811 side w/ packets leaving ASA 'outside' interface just fine.
example:
-------
ciscoasa# ping inside 10.20.20.1 (to cisco loopback1 from ASA inside)
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.20.20.1, timeout is 2 seconds:

I just get it that I can make a VPN Site-to-Site IPSec. But if I try to send a ping from one PC (network 1) to the other PC (network 2) it failed.
PC (Network 1) <ASA5505> Switch <ASA5510> PC (Network 2)
between the two ASA I have a funkctional VPN IPSec tunnel, but I can`t get access from one to theother network.
That are the access-list on the ASA5505:
asa5505#
access-list cached ACL log flows: total 0, denied 0 (deny-flow-max 4096)
alert-interval 300
access-list Inside_ICMP; 4 elements

I have two Cisco ASA routers and I have a site to site vpn set up between the two. The VPN link works but Site A can't ping anything on Site B. Site B can ping Site A. Site B can ping other pcs on it's own network. Site A has been in place for a while and has other site to site VPNs that work fine, so I think the problem is with Site B. Here is the config for Site B:

I am unable to ping any device on the internal lan from the opposite side of the tunnel. However, the tunnel connects successfully. I have the firewall disabled on both routers. Site A is using 192.168.3.1 and Site B is using 192.168.4.1. Any thoughts on why I cant ping one router from the other?

I've 3 Cisco 800 series routers and I needed to configure site-to-site vpn tunnel from branch2 to the main office(branch 1 VPN was already configured and working). I've managed to get the tunnel up and everything seemed OK as sh cry isa sa,sh cry session and sh cry ipsec sa didn't seem to have any problems.
Although the tunnel is up, I cannot ping PC-s on either side of the vpn tunnel.

we have the following setup for our network :
UserNetwork - ASA5550 - WAN Router 2911 - ISP Netowrk - Branch Routers 877s / 1941s
Since last week we started noticing this problem that the branch users started to complain of slow application response.. After verifying it with the ISP and middle network we noticed that if i ping from my machine (ie usernetwork) to the WAN Router interface (facing the ASA) , i get time outs.. which is strange cause this is directly connected to it via ethernet cable.

i two 5550 firewall set up for redundance purpose . in failover we define two different ip add one for primary and one for secondary .interface Ethernet0/0 nameif outside security-level 0 ip address xxxx.0.0.0.1 255.255.255.0 standby xxxx.0.0.2!interface Ethernet1/0 nameif inside security-level 100 ip address 10.0.0.12 255.255.255.0 standby 10.0.0.11.default gateway for host will be 10.0.0.12 (primary fw address) however in case of failover , the secondary fw will be up with ip address that was assigned for primary .in this case the secondary ip add 10.0.0.11 is actually nerver used? similarly do i need to have two public ip address for outside (one for primary and one for secondary ) ? or in case if primary fails the secondary comes onlie and take the ip of primary fw . hence i only need to purchase just one ip address.

I've got a 2621 configured as my main gateway to the internet - right now it's obtaining a DHCP ip from a the ISP's proprietary router set to bridged mode.
As of now, I'm unable to ping the internal interface of the router. I can ping external IP's only, even though I have DNS servers listed, i am unable to resolve host names. I'm running a few servers to which people are able to connect to my web server, among other services. I even have a crypto map setup to another 2621 across the country and can ping all internal ips on the other end... I JUST CANNOT PING THE INTERNAL INTERFACE of the router!!
I've noticed that when I ping the router during it's boot process (using linux un-interupted) I get a response in a very short window, then dies again. I'll post my config below:

I have a request to establish a site to site VPN with a customer. While collecting the information I give them our local network subnet which is a private subnet (192.168.5.0). They asked me if I could give them a public address instead. They can not work with the 192.168.5 subnet. Is this possible?
My side of the VPN is an ASA 5505 running 8.2(2). The other side i believe is a Checkpoint.

Got an ASA5505 connected to another endpoint running IPsec and being NAT'd at each end to a 10.0.0.0/24 network. I can pass other types of traffic through the ASA 5505 but not RTP traffic. The moment it is NAT'd and hits the firewall rules it gets denied by the default deny at the bottom of the list.
Currently the rules are as follows
Incoming External
allow ip any any
allow tcp any any
allow udp any any
default deny
[code].....
It wont allow us to setup a voip call...however when the same call manager sets up a voip call NOT using this ipsec tunnel it works just fine.

I have a ASA 5510 at our corporate HQ that has one site to site VPN. I need to add 6 additional site to site VPN's to this ASA for our remote branches. How can I add them without affecting the existing site to site VPN? The 6 site to site VPN's will all have the same settings however these settings are different from the existing site to site that I already have set up. How can I set it up so the 6 additional VPN's use their own crypto map and all use the same settings?
