Cisco Firewall :: Crashplan Backup On Port 4242 Does Not Work With RV180
Jul 10, 2012
I have bought an RV180 Firewall/VPN and try to use the Backup Software Crashplan. As per the supplier it needs Port 443 and 4242 open. Port 443 is fine and allows me to use the service to backup to the Cloud. However when I want to allow other users to backup to my computer this traffic is blocked. I tried to open port 4242 on the firewall and forward the traffic to the computer that hosts the service but it does not work. I have tried to Telnet this port from the WAN but I don't get a response. When I check the Open Ports this port is not listed as a LISTEN port either.

Today i installed an RV180 VPN router as replacement for a netscreen ns-5GT.Exactly the same configuration, everything works, except port forwarding from WAN to a host inside NAT.My ports are open (online port-scanner sees the ports as open), the hosts are accepting connections, but a connection can't be made.Probably a bug in the firmware.

I have an RV180 VPN router.I try to enable the VPN users with PPTP or QuickVPN but is not working. For PPTP sometimes my windows 7 connects to the router, sometimes doesn't connect with a random error message. When it connects, the windows 7 from outside the lan can see the computers from inside the lan but the computers from inside the lan cannot see the windows7 one. This is random also. When i succed to connect, from that computer, the internet is not working anymore.I tried to set the VPN in the same subnet as lan, i tried with different subnet. Is not working.I updated the last firmware. The same.Restore factory settings couple of times, the same.

I have a server on the inside of my network (with a internet Routable IP). It has been requested to me that people from the internet access port 80, and that is translated at the firewall to port 7080. I have set up a temp Access rule to allow access to 7080 from the outside and it is accessable. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am tion from 80 not able to get the translato 7080 to work.

I have two servers behind the RV180 and a list of ports I would like to open to the public (80, 443, 21, 3389).In that case, I have to setup 8 Access Rules. I am OK in the first time setting up.But later on, if I would like to change the external IP <-> internal IP mapping, I have to change the Access Rules one by one for all related ports.
Does it has a setting for grouping the ports together so that I can set the Access Rules by one time only ?BTW, the summary view of the Access Rules in RV180 is not very clear, I can't differentiate the Rules for different Destination NATs ... I have to click into the details one by one ...

why Windows Backup in Windows 7 pro 64 would not backup over the network to a drive I have connected to the 4200s USB port? Everytime I run it I get a Access Denied error at the end, even though data has been transfered. After about 5 hours of searching both here and Microsoft's website, I just get lots of people with the same issue that hasnt been resolved anywhere consistantly.

My company uses Cisco 891's in replacement of the 1811 where we would have DBU used via an external modem and a triggered time of 3 minutes after a primary connection failure was identified. In testing the 891 in a Layer 2 failure environment, it is within milliseconds that the v.92 port is engaging after the layer 2 failure. Has anyone been able to get it to attempt at a more than millisecond rate?

I have a question about 2504 deployment. Two WLC's , one will be acting as primary controller, second as secondary controller.
There will be two firewalls with High Availability between them. Ok, if primary controller will go down, we would need to wait about 2minutes, and AP's would join secondary controller.
But if there is a problem with firewall? Etc. FW 1 goes down. Is it possible with WLC 2504 to use it's second port as backup port ? And use the same IP address between them?
Because if we configure the second port with different IP address, we would need to wait about 2minutes, because AP's is in "rejoining" mode )(To use second port as backup, but have the same IP address on it ( like put these two interfaces into the same "vlan") , because this would be really great, if one Firewall goes down, we would still will be using the same wireless controller.)

On a WLC 5508 it lists an option to specify a "Backup Port" under the physical information section on an interface. We have two central switched SSID's which are connected to an internal firewall. We are looking at installing a backup/standby firewall and running a virtual firewall between them. Each SSID would have an additional patch from the WLC to the standby firewall.
Does the backup interface port function on the WLC allow traffic to be failed over from a centrally switched SSID via backup interfaces to an alternative device? If this does work will only physical link failure to the primary firewall cause the backup port to be activated or is there configuration parameters which can be specified for load, packet loss or latency which can be used as criteria to cause the backup port to be utilized?

I have a static IP block and need to route to various servers. I know I can use 1:1 NAT or Access Rules and have success with each. The problem is my mail server. When I use 1:1 NAT, the mail is sent from the correct IP - the address of my mail server - and there is no problem with reverse lookups. However, I cannot block any ports when I use 1:1 NAT. I have tried it every way I can think of and even some suggestions in the forums that did not work. No matter how I set access rules, all port stay open in 1:1 NAT.
If I delete the 1:1 NAT rule and use Access rules to open specific ports, the mail server sends out the mail from the WAN address. The reverse DNS does not match and mail server will bounce the mail.

I just purchased and installed the RV180 at my office. One of my clients requires that I use Cisco VPN Client to connect to their systems. Before I installed the RV180, everything worked just fine. After I installed the RV180, the VPN client disconnects after 5 to 15 minutes, every time.
What firewall settings on the RV180 do I need to enable/disable so that the VPN Client can work w/o disconnecting?
The RV180 is the router at my office. The VPN Client is on my computer, and I'm connecting to a client's system w/the VPN Client.

I purchased a RV180 router, and would like set the Firewall Access Rules as below
- Action: Always Allow
- Service: HTTP
- Source IP: Any
- Send to Local Server (DNAT IP): private ip (192.168.1.xx)
- Use Other WAN IP Address: Enable
- WAN Destination IP: one of public ip (different of the router WAN ip address)
- Action: Always Allow
- Service: FTP
- Source IP: Any
- Send to Local Server (DNAT IP): private ip (192.168.1.xx)
- Use Other WAN IP Address: Enable
- WAN Destination IP: one of public ip (different of the router WAN ip address)
The firewall access rules no problem within 1 hour after setting. I can access the http / ftp services by the WAN ip address. After several hours, I can't access the services.
I can set the one-to-one NAT rather than use the firewall access rules, but I would like block all other ports, and one-to-one NAT will forward all ports to the private ip address. Administrator > Logging > Firewall Logs , when I enable the settings, where can I get the log of the firewall?

Since WLC5508 MGMT interface is configured a AP-Mgr at the same time, can I set a Backup Port to WLC5508 MGMT interface? Refer to WLC configuration Guide:
In the Backup Port text box, enter the number of the backup port assigned to the management interface. If the primary port for the management interface fails, the interface automatically moves to the backup port.
Note Do not define a backup port for an AP-manager interface. Port redundancy is not supported for AP-manager interfaces. If the AP-manager interface fails, all of the access points connected to the controller through that interface are evenly distributed among the other configured AP-manager interfaces
if I need to configure the backup port for MGMT interface, i need to remove the AP-manager on MGMT interface and create a network dynamic interface for AP-Manager ?

Here's my problem. I'm going to be using Cisco 1941 routers at a bunch of remote sites. All of these sites have 2 comm paths out. Some of them have 2 IP/VHF radios and some have 1 IP/VHF radio and a copper link using Patton ethernet extenders. From the VHF radios the data hit our MPLS network back to our HQ and the sites with copper go directly back to our HQ. Everything ends up at a Cisco 4948 switch. The problem I'm having is that I want the routers at the remote site to use one ethernet port (G0/0) as the primary and the other (G0/1) as the backup interface. I've tried the backup interface command but the problem is that depending on where an outage occurs the ethernet link to either the radio or Patton stays up so it never switches over. We're using OSPF as our routing protocol and I'm sure there's something that can be done with it but I'm not sure what.

I'm having problems configuring an asa 8.2(1) with a backup isp. I followed the asdm instructions in this document: [URL]
I have my backup interface configured as DHCP and the static routes set. Pinging the gateway and other external IP address from the backup interfaces works normally. I have also tried configuring the backup interface as a static address but got the same results.
When removing the primary wan link, all traffic stops. When I ping a external DNS, I get these errors in the log: portmap translation creation failed for udp src inside: 192.168.13.23 dst backup:208.67.222.222_type 8, code0)
I though this type of error is related to a NAT problem, not sure where to look though.

ASA5510 ios v8.4.I've setup dual ISPs and I'm trying to get ipsec VPN client access to work on the backup interface (outside-backup). The goal is to have outbound traffic on the inside subnet NAT'd through the main interface (outside) while inbound ipsec VPN clients connect and operate off of outside-backup.crypto map is applied to 'interface outside-backup,' however clients are unable to connect. If I switch the default route to go through outside-backup everything starts to work again.

I installed a new ASA 5512-X over the weekend for a client. Their backup ISP connection is DHCP based. I need to use the 'dhcp client route track' command on the interface, but it is not available. However according the all the documentation I am looking at and even the ASDM says it should be available.
This is the version of ASA and ASDM they are running:
Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.6(1)1
Device Manager Version 6.6(1)
I did upgrade to the latest ASA software, so has this command been removed? If I do a '?' in the interface, there isn't a 'dchp' option.

I have a production ASA 5505 that is working perfectly. I wanted to take a spare ASA 5505 and copy the running config to it so that I would have a backup unit that could be swapped out if the production unit went down.
Both units have security plus and running 8.2(1). The only difference is that the production ASA has 512MB of RAM while the backup ASA has 256MB. Also the backup has anyconnect and the production unit does not.
I copied the running-config to my tftp server and then copied the running config from my tftp server to the backup ASA as startup-config. After reload the device booted with an identical configuration to my production ASA, but after swapping out the units to test it, I have no access to the WAN or DMZ from my LAN. Swapping back to the production unit and all works as it should.
I printed out the running config from both devices and compared them line by line. They are identical except for the anyconnect line on the backup ASAs config file.

I would like to setup backup ISP in our ASA5510. Right now the the firewall has for default gateway following command:

ow to backup Cisco ASA-5510 from a Linux server via TFTP?I do know how to backup a switch or a router. Basically creating an access list such as:
access-list 55 remark PERMIT hosts requesting TFTP access
access-list 55 permit host 172.16.0.27
and allowing access to
tftp-server nvram:startup-config 55
all this inside the router or the switch. From the Linux box just running a simple command such as:
tftp 172.16.0.3 -c get startup-config newbackup.conf
where 172.16.0.3 is the IP address of the switch and newbackup.conf is the name of the config file stored on the Linux machine. So, how do I do that with an ASA box? how to backup ASA from inside it.

I'm working on setting up a backup link for our ASA 5505 and I've followed these directions: [URL]
The backup ISP gives us a dynamic address, however, when I enable the backup ISP's interface on the ASA, my vpn tunnels drop. As soon as I disable the backup interface, the tunnels come back up. I'm attempting to configure this across one of these tunnels, so obviously this is an issue, as is the fact that other people need the tunnels as well. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but I've been over the config many times and can't see anything different from the instructions in the link above.
I thought it might be trying to route traffic across the backup interface, but my primary interface is tracked and has SLA running on it, so I would assume it wouldn't roll over onto the backup interface.
