My CAT 4510 switch is showing 99.9% CPU usage almost through out the day. After some analysis i saw that the “Cat4k Mgmt LoPri” process is having 86% CPU utilization. This process is a package that is including multiple process.
Within this package, two processes have been identified which are causing this shock which are “K5L3Unicast Adj Tabl” and “K5 L2 Hardware Addre” .
This indicates that some heavy activity is going on CEF adjacency table and RP MAC Address Table. My current IOS version is 12.2(53)SG

We had a fan fail on our 3845 edge router. No big deal; the other two fans kept the temperature easily within spec, and the module is a two minute hot swap. I opened a ticket, they sent me a replacement. Simple. (In fact, the router install docs note that the fans are essentially a "consumable" part, and will fail within a few years, depending on how hot and dusty your environment is.)
The fan module is actually the whole face plate of the router, blue plastic with a steel backing, status LEDs, and the three fans. That is all fine. But, Cisco won't take the failed part back for refurbishment, which in this case would be simply to replace the fans!
The replacement part came with the standard Cisco return packaging: a sticker with an RMA #, a "manual" paper UPS label, and instructions to use their on-line tool [URL]. But, when I entered the RMA number, I got a pop-up saying it was invalid, and I should call Cisco Asset Recovery, whose 800 number is also on the sticker.
They told me that this part is not returnable; that the RMA is only to ID the shipment so they can confirm I got it. They told me to just throw it out. They would not provide a printable return shipping label.
I'd feel bad throwing out even the substantial cardboard and foam packaging of this part, let alone the assembled unit!
Hasn't Cisco heard that there is a general industry movement to cut down on electronic waste? With the removal of six screws, I could swap the failed fan out of this assembly and replace only the fan. I'm glad Cisco didn't ask me to do that level of repair, but I certainly think they should -- I'd assumed that the replacement unit I'd received was a return "refurbished" with new fans.It seems a complete waste to just chuck out this whole thing.
Heck, even the tiny power supply bricks for the Aeronet APs have a little "no trash" sticker on them, with a link to [URL]. Why do they just dispose of router faceplace assemblies when the only issue is a fan that was expected to fail in the first place?
Attached photo shows the 3845 front piece, which is the fan assembly, and the package the replacement came in, which could be used to return this part, and then be reused. For comparison, the little black thing in front is an Aeronet 1131 power module, which has a Cisco Recycles sticker.

I need to increase the link capacity of 10GE to 20GE between two Cisco7609, so I feel the need to configure port channel between them, my little problem is that I have a SCE 8080 in the middle of both 7600 currently is configured inline. The SCE has 4 modules 1X10GE-L-V2 (currently in use 2), I was investigated and the truth is that I not found anything concrete about how to configure the SCE to "pass" etherchannel through it? What the SCE needs to support 20GE of traffic? (configuration and software)
I have two 10GE ports available on the SCE

I have a couple of Switches Blade 3120, working as active-standby model (HSRP) on a new site deployment. There are other 20 sites more or less, working on the same model, without issues. But in this one, we are seeing a high cpu usage. The traffic going through the platform is 600Mbps (on peaks), and in this case we have 40% of CPU usage. Traffic should be close to 3 Gbps. When we tried to send the whole traffic through the platform, active switch began to drop packets on the majority of interfaces.
When we analyze the CPU usage, there is a special process called "HL3U bkgrd proce" always have the most CPU use, but we do not know what concerns. We do not know if it is caused because there are PBRs configured. It should not matter. How I mentioned, there are other sites working fine and have had always the same PBR number.
What is causing the high usage?. Is there a special debug we could to perform to diagnose the issue?. Also, we have seen a high interrupt CPU usage (9% in this case).

however recently when i check my internet usage log on my wireless company (Rogers) the usage is totally off from what my bandwidth tracker shows me. So i decide to turn off my wifi and see what happens, there has always been this weird wifi connection appearing whenever my wifi appears, then afterwards when i turn off my wifi the suspicious wifi connections disappear. is this possible that someone is using our wifi? i might just be overreacting but it has brought me to concern that if the usage continues my family will have to end up paying over $30 for extra internet use. it is very frustrating me because when i check my DHCP client table it only shows 3 connection, ethernet - my desktop which is not turned on, 2 wireless connection - my laptop and my sister's laptop.

I recently made a fresh install of LMS 4.1 and added all of our devices (about 400 devices). After configuring all jobs and services everything ran fine. After a few days a guy from the server team called me and told me that the CPU-usage increased over the days. I made some investigations and found out which process is using CPU ressources. Whenever ANIServer is running and collecting data CPU is running at approx. 100%. First it takes only a few minutes to complete but after some cycles ist takes more and more time to complete, after a week it takes more than 4 hours. After restarting ANIServer process it takes again a few minutes and then the duration increases.
Server specs:
Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit

When a physical switchport/routed port has high usage, you can move the link to a higher capacity port, upgrade the port, bond links, etc. What exactly do you do when an SVI has high usage? I guess you could remove some servers from the VLAN, but that doesn't seem like a reasonable solution. What dictates the capacity of an SVI? The backplane of the switch?

I have a problem I am running into... I replaced a 2621 with a 2911. The 2911 has three interfaces and I need to use all of them... Description:
gige0/0 dhcp static IP from ISP, public IP, they assign me 4 more usable public IPs gige0/1 broken into four VLANS, 108, 109, 120, 127, ip nat on 109 for them to get to the internet, and a static translation on 127 for the phone system to get to the internet gige0/2 assigned another public IP. A tenent has a linksys router on this interface, they want a public IP.
The problem is that this setup worked, but when we moved to the 2911, some nat translations are failing, and we would like to figure out how to minimize the number of public IPs we use (right now it is three + the static assigned dhcp). The nat that is not working is the nats to the 2001-3001 range. I am not sure why it is failing, but the router seems to indicate it thinks some of these overlap. This router is also doing a vpn to an asa... that seems to be working fine.

I am trying to setup a VPN server on my router at home so I that I can access my network remotely. The router has f0/0 as a dhcp interface connected to a cable modem. I have a switch card in it and vlan interfaces for my inside/private subnets. I NAT/PAT the inside vlan interfaces/subnets to the f0/0 dhcp address from the cable modem. I have found a ton of configs for this but nothing that shows it with a NAT setup. I have used a few examples I found that are close to my setup. I am able to connect and the cisco lock closes. But I am not able to do anything. When checking the cisco client stats the sent numbers keep counting up but the received number stays at zero. Any good config that I can use or have a good link? I am also running CME on this router.

If the vlans that the VPN SPA was trunked you would Every 18-24 hours the 6500's- the 6500 go to 100 % CPU.Simple design GRE IPSEC tunnels that work fine and the latest SXI code. It appears that if you trunk the VPN SPA trunks and they are the same VLAN that it going into some kind bridging loop. No errors. Just unresponsive.

I will attempt to make is simpler this time. I have a gateway to gateway VPN tunnel setup using two RV042 routers. I have been using this gateway for years without any issues. The computers on each side of the tunnel were Windows XP. I also use RealVNC Enterprise Edition on each computer for easy access to their desktops and applications. I have added two new Windows 7 Pro computers on each end of the tunnel.
The problem is with the two new Windows 7 computers. I am able to connect from a new Windows 7 computer to a Windows XP computer located on the opposite side of the tunnel fine with RealVNC. If I connect using the same Windows 7 computer to a new Windows 7 computer on the opposite end of the tunnel the connection will disconnect after a few seconds. I have disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 and even upgraded it to version 11.0.6300. I also installed the most up to date driver for the Intel 82579V network adapter on the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe motherboard.
I attempted to install Cisco's Quick VPN for the RV042 with no luck on that. The certificates that the router uses do not work in the Trusted Root Certification AuthoritiesCertificates folder. So I gave up on that approach. All efforts to possibly by-pass the problem have failed. There is something with the two Windows 7 computers communicating through the tunnel that does to happen with the Windows XP computers.

Have a problem coming my way with regards monitoring 3g data usage on an 887 router. The router will carry two links - x1 primary over the serial port and x1 secondary failover link utilizing 3g.
The 3g sim has an allowance of 1Gb per month (traffic has been baselined and this seems sufficient - not by me though).I have a requirement to monitor the 3g link and trigger an alert at say the 60% mark (600Mb). Whatever mechanism is used to count the data also has to reset to 0 at the beginning of every month as data stats will be included in monthly reports.
Second conundrum, I also have to somehow split out the data usage stats to show my customers usage as well as my own. My own being management traffic (mainly snmp and icmp) and present this in the monthly report.
#1 - Does the 887 have some form of 3g accounting capability either via gui or cli that can fulfil my requirements above?
#2 - With splitting the data usage stats, could this be achieved using netflow and if it was possible, could i only have my flows sent down the Primary link (obviously only when it is active) and if the box fails to 3g have netflow just count the data until the Primary kicks in again. If no built in features can give me what i want i my go down the eem scripting route burt this is a last resort.

I decided to migrate to ASA 8.4(5) from 7 and everything went very well with the exception of this one issue. All ACL and NAT for our various remote desktop servers work perfectly as long as the servers are running an RDP server version greater than 5.2. For instance, Server 2008 machines (or Win 7 Pro desktops) work perfectly as configured; however, Server 2003 machines (or WinXP Pro desktops) will not. I'm using manual, static NAT for the object to avoid automatic NAT issues.
The client computer displays the non-vista warning message, "The indentity of the remote computer cannot be verified...", but then fails to properly connect stopping at the "Configuring remote session..." status message. The ASA log shows that it built the TCP, then it displays a teardown with reason TCP Reset-I.
I can use a working ACL and NAT (using default TCP 3389 for instance) with a Server 2008 at IP 192.168.15.10 and move a Server 2003 machine to that same IP without touching any configuration at the firewall and it fails. Move the Server 2008 machine back to that IP and it works perfectly (both set at Port 3389 of course).
Here is the relevant info from the config that I am using for this:
------------------------------------------
object network RDPServer
host 192.168.15.10
object service RDP
service tcp source eq 3389
access-list out2in line 1 extended permit tcp any object 192.168.15.10 eq 3389
nat (inside, outside) 1 source static RDPServer interface service RDP RDP,The above works pefect as long as a server 2008 machine is at the IP, but fails with a server 2003 machine at the IP.

I have 2 x Cisco 3845 each one with a DS3 circuit, both running c3845-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T3. In each of them I have one pvc provided by my carrier and I received the following info to configure:
vc-class atm ATM
vbr-nrt 44096 44096 1
oam-pvc manage
oam retry 3 10 1
encapsulation aal5mux ip
That worked fine for the first one with the NM-ATM-DS3, however, using NM-1A-T3/E3, it seems that I'm restricted up to 40700 kbps PCR/SCR:

I am replacing our core router, which is a very old 7204VXR, with a T3 card in it. We are using it to terminate about 10 point to point T1's. It is also the central gateway for our entire network.
I am planning on replacing it with a 3845, and an NM-1T3/E3 card for my DS3. I think I've got that part worked out.
My real question is concerning future upgrades. We are trying to convert many of these point to point connections to Metro Ethernet, and get rid of the huge DS3 cost. When that happens, I'll probably have a handful of point to point T1's left over (maybe 2-6 of them). So, what I need is a good solution to terminate those 2-6 PTP T1's in my 3845. In the past I have just been using the old WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 cards to terminate my T1's. I am looking for a solution that won't break the bank. I looked at both the HWIC-4T1/E1 and the NM-8CE1T1-PRI cards (which terminate 4 and 8 T1's), but they are like $4,500 and $8,500 respectively. That's way beyond my budget for these. I definitley don't need a card that will do PRI's (DSP's etc.). I just need it to terminate plain old point to point T1's.
So it may be that I'm just looking at the wrong cards. Or maybe the make cards that will go in the back of the 3845 that will house 2, 4 or more WIC slots, and I could just use WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 cards?
