Cisco Infrastructure :: Port Triggering / Forwarding On DDR2200-CL ADSL2 Router?

Sep 19, 2011

I got a new router yesterday and I'm trying to re-portforward a  server that I was hosting. I access my router page and add the ports to the  port triggering page and it saves. After that, I go and check if my ports  are open, but it is still saying that they are closed. The protocol is set at TCP. However, on my old 2WIRE router,  I used to be able to set the application type as FTP. But theres no option to do it on this one.

Everything worked fine before on my old 2WIRE router. Also, if it makes a  difference, I'm using the Windows 8 developer preview. I'm not sure if this would be the problem, but I also tried adding a  port exception to the firewall but can't find the option to do so.

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-8970 Port Forwarding To A Different Internal Port

Is there any way of forwarding an external port to a different internal port on the TD-8970 ?I saw a question posed on an Australian forum implying that it might be provided in a later firmware release. Our TD- 8970 has replaced a previous NetGear WAG 320N which had this facility, and is useful to provide access to multiple machines without having to modify each individually to use a different port.

Have spent most of the day trying to get port forwarding to work! U an trying to run a mail server and am forwarding ports 25, 110, 995 to a PC on my LAN, only problem is the ports never get there. I can connect quite happily if I wire a laptop to the router BUT as soon as I try to connect from externally either by mail.domainname or IP I am not able to connect. Using telnet I can't connect to the ports either. If I forward port 80 I still connect straight to the router rather than trying to connect to the mail server for webmail. At the moment I am having to forward all mail from the server to a google account just to read it!!

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-W8961ND - Port Forwarding Does Not Work?

Mar 10, 2013

Region : Italy
Model : TD-W8961ND
Hardware Version : V3
Firmware Version : 3.0.0 Build 120720 Rel.09287
ISP : alice

A couple of weeks ago I have bought a TD-W8961ND in replacement of my old modem/router (of another brand, to upgrade from Wireless G to N). I tried to replicate in the new router something similar to my old setup, so I programmed Virtual Servers (under the NAT menu) with the following rules: NATRules.jpg in an attempt to:

- grant access from "outside" Internet to my web server

- have a Wakeup-On-LAN from "outside" Internet ..etc.. without success. Please note that:

- I have successfully setup a DDNS server to reach my modem router from outside

- as for WOL, I defined my subnet mask as 255.255.255.128

- I have not set any other rule, nor in NAT, nor in routing or other

- I tried also with firewall disabled

- I do my testing by means of a smartphone with wireless disabled and Internet connection via mobile service provider

- Both the above mentioned functions were working with my old modem/router (and still work on LAN), and I have not changed other things (PC setup etc)

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: W8968 Port Forwarding Stopped After Upgrade?

I've been using the W8968 for a while now with the default firmware out of the box. Everything was working fine, except that during a hard reset (power off-an-on) all my port forwarding settings were gone. This was so annoying that I decided to upgrade the firmware to 120926. Now the settings don't disappear, but the port forwarding stopped working. I've tried to connect from the outside to all of the ports that I opened on the router, but it kept on saying the port is closed (even though it appears on the port forwarding list and the status is "Enabled"). The router firewall is also disabled.

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-W8961NB Port Forwarding (voip) Not Working

Jan 8, 2013

Region : Greece
Model : TD-W8961NB
Hardware Version : V2
Firmware Version : 2.0.0 120823
ISP : otenet

The problem is that the voip is not working. I have 2 offices with adsl connection. A is the central office and B is the branch office. The installation is old with deferent ADSL modem-router(Zyxel). The zyxel at the A office was damaged so i had to change it with Tp-link. The potology with ip and cables is the same. I tested the port forward for voip (port 1720) with telnet from outside of the office and responds correct. When i try to call from the A office to B office it seems that i can not connect. When i call from B office to A office the phone is ringing and i can not hear office B but office B hear office A. When i use the old modem router at the office A everything is working fine but the modem-router works just for a while so i have to change it. I closed the firewall but the problem is still the same. I talked with the local distributor and they tolded me that i have to correct the configuration. At the interface setup is chosen the dynamic at the section get ip and not static as i should do. The is a problem there. The configuration asks me the subnet mask and gateway. I do not know the subnet mask and either the local distributor and the local internet provider cannot assist. The internet provider told me to use at the subnet mask 255.255.255.240 and at the gateway the ip of the router. I did that but when i did i lost the internet connection. I have to mention that i make some other port forwards to my SBS2003 server and like remote desktop, vpn connections and https that works fine. The only prolbem is with the vpn port forwarding.

Cisco :: ADSL2+ Router With Ability To Hardcode Port Speed / Duplex?

May 3, 2012

I have a video conferencing device and I struggled a lot with a bunch of different routers. I was giving up but then I plugged in a friend's old Linksys/Cisco Adsl gateway and all the problems disappeared (kudos to Cisco). The problem is that the gateway is not ADSL2+. I have since borrowed a Linksys/Cisco ADSL2+ router, however, there isn't a possibility to enter port speeds/duplex manually (required to prevent packet loss in video conferencing, I really want to have that option for the peace of mind). I have been looking around on the internet but I can't seem to find this ability any routers' specs. What I need is as follows:

- Has to be Cisco or Linksys router
- Has to be ADSL2+ (Annex A)
- Doesn't have to be wireless, even single port is OK
- Preferably has DMZ
- Ability to hard code lan port speed/duplex (i.e. no autosense)
- No other functions needed so hopefully a cheap option

We have the following port forwards set up on a Cisco 800s router. All internal IP addresses are NATd out to the IP on fa4 which is the external interface.  Traffic recieved on fa4 is forwarded to different servers depending on the type of traffic recieved.

We can browse the internal websites from the internet fine, but there is one internal server 192.168.1.7 that uses a db server (192.168.1.5).. it accesses it on its external IP (fa4) on port 1433  but for some reason the connection does not work.. could this be because the source and destination IP addresses are the same IP address?

Port Forwarding Through A Three Router Y Setup

Dec 25, 2011

I'm finally jumping in over Christmas break to set up a Y network with three routers. I run a side business repairing and cleaning viruses/malware from PCs and would like the business subnet not to be able to mix with (and possibly infect) the "home" subnet. Before I knew what I was doing, I set up a simple two router "chained" network by hanging an old SMC router off my main Airport Extreme router, but I've since learned that's not ideal, since the "work" network machines can see everything on the "home" network. So, here's what I want to do. I want to put the new third router right after my cable modem (ISP). I want to keep my Airport Extreme and all devices attaching to it (home subnet) off one LAN port of this new router and my old SMC router off another LAN port of the new router (the test subnet). Currently, the IPs are: [code]My concern in setting up a "Y" configuration is that I have some wireless IP webcams on the Airport Extreme that are using port forwarding (both UDP and HTTP) so I can view them from wherever I am on the Internet, not just from within my home network.

What's the best way to make sure the port forwarding from devices on the Airport Extreme subnet works through the "new" router and out through to the Internet? Do I have to open the same ports on the new router? If so, does anyone have an example using the addresses above? Should I just put the Airport Extreme in the DMZ of the new router (so everything is just passed through - or will that allow my test subnet to see the home subnet? Some other way?

Port Forwarding With A Belkin Router?

Jun 7, 2012

Recently Brighthouse figured out that I was using the wireless router they gave me for actual wireless, and decided to shut it off and tell me I need to pay $100 to use wi-fi on the router. So instead, I went out and bought myself my own belkin wireless router, and plugged it into my old one. Now, I don't know if my old router was indeed a router or a modem. The cable from the wall goes into the older router (let's call that NETGEAR) and from there, an ethernet cable goes into the belkin one (we'll call that BELKIN). Before, when I was using the Wi-Fi on the NETGEAR, port forwarding worked fine, except for having to re-forward ports after my dynamic ip changed. Now, because of the BELKIN router, I can't forward anything? I went into the router management at 192.168.2.1 (for the Belkin), went to Virtual servers forwarded the port 25565 No one can connect to my Minecraft server, only when I plug my computer into my NETGEAR with ethernet (hardwire).

Port Forwarding With Verizon DSL And Linksys Router

Mar 24, 2011

I use Bit Torrent to trade Grateful Dead concert recordings (all legit trading). I have Verizon DSL, a Westell 6100G Modem and a Linksys WRT 160N V2 Router. The Modem is located at 192.168.1.1 and the Router at 192.168.2.1. In the router setup page I have properly forwarded and triggered my ports. However, when I visit my torrent site, it tells me that I am firewalled or "NAT". I used to have the Linksys WRT54G Router and it was configured to PPPoE and everything worked fine. One day I did a firmware upgrade on the router and it would no longer connect to the internet. I switched ti to Automatic Configuration - DHCP and it connected, but performance was slow and this NAT issue began. I eventually got the new router and I have the same problem. If I set it to PPPoE, put in he username and password, I lose my internet connection. If set to Automatic Config - DHCP it works, but, again, "NAT".

Verizon told me that this newer modem self configures itself as PPPoE and there is no need to set the router to PPPoE but I can't seem to get these ports forwarded or get around this NAT issue. It is causing a significant loss of performance and while torrenting I can not connect to others, meaning I can not share what I have downloaded (the torrent client won;t upload). I have been screwing with this for months and have spent endless hours on the phone with Verizon - Linksys says my router is out of warranty so they want $39.95/month for tech support.I have been working with the tech support team on my torrent website and they can't get it figured out either.

Netgear N300 / Cisco 2950 - Port Forwarding With No Router

Jul 9, 2013

I have been having problems with my router. I have a Net gear N300 v2, but I am not asking for support with said router. Forwarding network traffic from the Internet to a server and then have it properly re-routed. I have never done this sorta thing before, but I want to go into a career in I.T. when I'm older. As a side note, I have already figured out that ditching the router requires to have a software DHCP server, which I am using Windows Server 2008 Data center and it's built in role as DHCP server.

DNS is also configured. The modem a Motorola Surf Board is connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst 2950, and that connects all of the rest of the network, also via a 3Com SUper Stack Hub, and a little 8-port HP Advance Stack J2610A, which connects to all of my wireless AP.

F5D8235uk4 - Can't Set The Port Forwarding Ip Address On Belkin Router

Jun 28, 2011

I've just changed my router to a Belkin N+ Wireless Router (F5D8235uk4) My home network is on the 10.0.0.0 ip address range.

I changed the routers IP address to 10.0.0.2 (same as my last one) and the subnet is set to 255.0.0.0

My problem is that whilst my PC's are in the 10.0.0.10 to 10.0.0.20 range my NAS ip is 10.10.10.10 and when I go into the port forwarding (virtual servers) settings on the router it only let's me set the last octet with the first three octets set to 10.0.0. and these can't be changed so I can't port forward to my nas.

Surely the virtual servers should be able to forward to any PC in the subnet, not just those in a 255.255.255.0 subnet? I don't want to change my nas IP address even though that would fix this issue.

Linksys WRT54GS Router - Port Forwarding Not Working?

Jul 18, 2012

I am trying to run a server for minecraft, which some of you may know primarily uses Port 25565. I have tried everything that I've seen suggested. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router that I have my 2 xboxes, playstation 3, pc, and wii connected to. Now, I don't use any of these components at the same time. I had an issue with my xbox and the game "Black Ops", where my NAT type was strict, but a microsoft support technician walked me through port forwarding for the xbox, and it worked. My NAT type was displayed as "open" now. This is not the case with Port 25565 however, as even though I've port forwarded 25565 to my static IP i set up for my PC (which is my server PC), Port checking sites such as "Yougetsignal" and a couple of others are still showing no connection for the current external IP and Port 25565.

I went through ipconfig in windows "cmd" and made sure I had all the ip's and subnets and dns' and whatnot correctly entered in my routers configuration page. I went into Windows firewall and put new rules for port 25565 into incoming rules. None of this seems to work. I even shut off the firewall completely (temporarily, mind you), just to eliminate that possibility, to no avail. Still getting negative responses from these sites. I am able to log into my server myself, using "localhost" as the address, but none of my minecraft buddies can get on my server. I've also tried to use Hamachi to set up a server, which doesn't need ports to be forwarded, but although they can join my hamachi network, they can't join the server. Obviously there is more of a problem than just not being able to open ports, and I am at a loss.

Also, I am aware that my external IP, given by my ISP, will change with every disconnect and reconnect of my signal. I got my current IP address during this time and gave that to my buddies so they could join the non-hamachi network. For the Hamachi server I edited my Hamachi network IP into my server software's properties file, where as it would be left blank for my non-hamachi server.
