I have at&t DSL with Westell Modem/Router in Bridge Mode and Linksys Router connected. The internet is working fine, but I'm unable to forward ports on the Linksys Router. The ports are 80 and 37777.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to work with a friend set up his wireless router. He had the Geeksquad come and set it up and I have no idea what they did. A mess of wires. I noticed that I was able to log into the imbeded browser of the modem and the router from the main PC. I didn't think it was possible to log into the modem if it was set up in bridged ethernet mode. His internet is working but I was thinking that he may have problems with double NATing.Basically, I just want to know what options there are for setting up a router to a modem. I'm aware of bridged mode and setting up the router as a switch (not real knowledgable of this one). Seems like DHCP is enabled on both devices.

Being the idiot I am, I reset my router to change the password (dumb I know) and now the router can't pass the internet signal from the modem on! 1. I've set the modem to bride/bridge and unchecked the private LAN box.release/renewed IP2. Used the modem's MAC address in the router. . Made sure DHCP set to obtain automatically.4. Reset, restarted seperately multiple times.It looks like from the status page that the router is obtaining an IP but it won't connect to the internet

Then I hooked my new e3200 to the westell 7500, but no matter what I tried, I could not get any PCs hooked to the e3200 to be able to get to the internet.so able to get to internet too. My questions are:Is there any downside to doing it this way? (ie, not putting westell in bridge mode).Can this cause any slowness or conflicts? Any reasons why bridge mode may not have worked?

I have the Linksys BEFSX41 wired Firewall router. My ISP is Verizon DSL. The DSL modem is a Westell 6100G. I have the wall phone line connected to my modem. The output of the modem is going to the input of my Linksys router. I have two computers connected to the router outputs. In order for me to see the output or configuration of my Westall modem, I have to go http://192.168.1.1. In order for me to see the configuration of my Linksys router, I have to enter http://10.10.10.1. When I look at the instructions for setting up and configuring my Linksys router, it never mentions the above 10.10.10.1 address, but instead it tells me to enter the 192.168.1.1 address. I have never done this because when I powered both units for the first time, and it worked, I noticed then that my Linksys address was the 10.10.10.1. Why is it then that none of the settings or instructions for the Linksys router never mention to enter the 10.10.10.1 address as oppose to the one the do call out to enter which is the address for the Westell modem? What would happen if both addresses on both devices were the same?

I have a ZyXel Q1000 modem and a Trendnet TEW-452BRP router. The TRENDnet is serving a PS3, Xbox, Wii, and 2 iMacs and the ZyXel is serving the TRENDnet.
My public IP for the ZyXel is 65.xxx.xx.152 and it's IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a range of 192.168.0.2-254 My TRENDnet IP is 192.168.1.1 and a range of 192.168.1.100-199
I have setup a Virtual Server on the TRENDnet using HTTP, Protocol TCP 80/80 and LAN Server 198.168.1.109 (my iMac localhost). I have also setup Application forwarding and Port forwarding on both the modem and router (at different times, trying to resolve this).
Naturally none of those worked. I don't know if I need a Port forwarded or Application forwarding or the Virtual Server. Also don't know if either of those need to be on one or both devices.
All I do know is to access my localhost from the Internet, all I need to do is put http://65.xxx.xx.152 in the address bar of a browser outside my network, and my modem/and or router should forward the request to my iMac and my localhost:8080.
But every configuration I have tried does nothing of the sort.
I'm currently using Cisco EPC 3000 cable modem and Airlive wt-2400r router. Afaik the cisco isn't a router, but i'm still having some weird problems with forwarding and apparently even DMZ wont work .

I had asked my questions over at DSLReports, and they said Westell could be used as a Ethernet router, but they still doesn't fully answer my questions.The Westell modem/router model is A90-750015-07. I only have a modem through Service Electric. My questions are could this Westell modem/router be used as a separate wireless only router? Like, the D-link, and Linksys sells wireless routers, right? People could connect to it, or people could enable WPA for more secured? Could this modem/router act as wireless without the need of a DSL link through Verizon? I know on some wireless routers others are able to connect the modem to router using a WAN port, and then router to PC using a LAN port. However, I did not see any ports on this Westell for LAN and WAN. I'll show what I see from left to right.

I tried getiing into the d link with 192.168.2.1 but failed...resetting does nothing. I also have a westell 7500 dsl modem/router but it also fails to supply any comp with internet, although only my xp comp can access it. I can not get into the routers. Resetting does nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to access the internet when I plug my modem (Westell 6100) into my router (Netgear WPN824). It works perfectly fine when I connect my modem directly to my computer though. It was working perfectly last night and for the last few years up until now.
I've tried sequencing, turning off my modem/router/pc while waiting two minutes in between each step but it doesn't work. I'm 100% sure the log in and password information to log in is correct (I use PPPoE to access the internet). I've tried resetting the router to factory settings and going through the setup but I get the same result. (Unable to connect)

I have one wired computer on that network, my imac/game server, my main PC, my wii and an ipod touch connected connected to the linksys e-1000 wirelessly. View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Bit Torrent to trade Grateful Dead concert recordings (all legit trading). I have Verizon DSL, a Westell 6100G Modem and a Linksys WRT 160N V2 Router. The Modem is located at 192.168.1.1 and the Router at 192.168.2.1. In the router setup page I have properly forwarded and triggered my ports. However, when I visit my torrent site, it tells me that I am firewalled or "NAT". I used to have the Linksys WRT54G Router and it was configured to PPPoE and everything worked fine. One day I did a firmware upgrade on the router and it would no longer connect to the internet. I switched ti to Automatic Configuration - DHCP and it connected, but performance was slow and this NAT issue began. I eventually got the new router and I have the same problem. If I set it to PPPoE, put in he username and password, I lose my internet connection. If set to Automatic Config - DHCP it works, but, again, "NAT".
Verizon told me that this newer modem self configures itself as PPPoE and there is no need to set the router to PPPoE but I can't seem to get these ports forwarded or get around this NAT issue. It is causing a significant loss of performance and while torrenting I can not connect to others, meaning I can not share what I have downloaded (the torrent client won;t upload). I have been screwing with this for months and have spent endless hours on the phone with Verizon - Linksys says my router is out of warranty so they want $39.95/month for tech support.I have been working with the tech support team on my torrent website and they can't get it figured out either.
We are using a Westell 7500 wireless modem/router from Frontier without any problemsI have two d-link wireless n300 routers that I want to add to network so I can add them to our DirecTV DVR's. I have tried using the D-link CD and instructions without any success. Everytime it prompts me for my 1st router's (the Westell's) login/password, it says it's invalid. If I then click to continue w/o the logon and password, it then gives me an error when it is trying to add the d-link. I have tried everything. My Westell IP is 192.168.1.1. My home computer brings up internet with no problems or delays. Unfortunately, my wireless laptop won't recognize any network.I plugged it in using the ethernet cord directly to laptop and modem and still no internet. I'm frustrated, I use my laptop all the time and without the internet it's worthless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run a server for minecraft, which some of you may know primarily uses Port 25565. I have tried everything that I've seen suggested. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router that I have my 2 xboxes, playstation 3, pc, and wii connected to. Now, I don't use any of these components at the same time. I had an issue with my xbox and the game "Black Ops", where my NAT type was strict, but a microsoft support technician walked me through port forwarding for the xbox, and it worked. My NAT type was displayed as "open" now. This is not the case with Port 25565 however, as even though I've port forwarded 25565 to my static IP i set up for my PC (which is my server PC), Port checking sites such as "Yougetsignal" and a couple of others are still showing no connection for the current external IP and Port 25565.
I went through ipconfig in windows "cmd" and made sure I had all the ip's and subnets and dns' and whatnot correctly entered in my routers configuration page. I went into Windows firewall and put new rules for port 25565 into incoming rules. None of this seems to work. I even shut off the firewall completely (temporarily, mind you), just to eliminate that possibility, to no avail. Still getting negative responses from these sites. I am able to log into my server myself, using "localhost" as the address, but none of my minecraft buddies can get on my server. I've also tried to use Hamachi to set up a server, which doesn't need ports to be forwarded, but although they can join my hamachi network, they can't join the server. Obviously there is more of a problem than just not being able to open ports, and I am at a loss.
Also, I am aware that my external IP, given by my ISP, will change with every disconnect and reconnect of my signal. I got my current IP address during this time and gave that to my buddies so they could join the non-hamachi network. For the Hamachi server I edited my Hamachi network IP into my server software's properties file, where as it would be left blank for my non-hamachi server.
I am finding it impossible to set up port forwarding. No matter what I do I remain completely stealthed when I do a port probe via [URL]... The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.
