I've been trying to port forward my modem and router for Xbox 360 live. Only problem is, I know absolutely nothing about networking or configuring modem / router settings.Anyhow, I was told to put my modem into Bridged Ethernet mode. I tried, then I couldn't even connect to the internet anymore.my router model is a Belkin F5D7234-4 V5. My modem is a Motorola 2210-02-1006.
View 14 RepliesI'm not that great at networking, I'm pretty much a novice but I'm trying to connect a modem and router to my computer but get around bridging the modem if possible. You see, I am working with AT&T and their dsl modem access page only works for me if the modem is unbridged. If I bridge the modem, I cannot get on the page again to unbridge it while I am trying to hook up my router. When I need them to unbridge the modem, I have to stay on hold for hours. One guy even told me that he did unbridge the modem, but since my internet persisted not to work, he told me my ethernet card went bad of a sudden on my computer. I knew this was incorrect so after a few more hours on hold, I had a lady debate with me that she was not unbridging my modem since it was my ethernet card that was bad and not the bridging. Finally, laughing to herself, she unbridged the modem for me and it worked

As of right now, I just have a LAN with my modem plugged in through an ethernet cord to my PC. Is there a way of me hooking up my Linksys router to my modem and PC without bridging the modem? If so, where can I find out instructions for this?
My son tried to "speed up" our connection by unplugging modem&router. now can't get both talking to each other. Tried numerous steps! Bought Router 8/11/11, so NO Support from Cisco(only 90 days-POOR!). Website useless. Modem works fine with PC wired in.

The software that came with the router has created two networks but is unable to connect to the internet. I have tried on both my PC and MacBook Pro and niether work. I have the modem connected directly to my Mac and can get to the internet, so I know the modem is working correctly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently Brighthouse figured out that I was using the wireless router they gave me for actual wireless, and decided to shut it off and tell me I need to pay $100 to use wi-fi on the router. So instead, I went out and bought myself my own belkin wireless router, and plugged it into my old one. Now, I don't know if my old router was indeed a router or a modem. The cable from the wall goes into the older router (let's call that NETGEAR) and from there, an ethernet cable goes into the belkin one (we'll call that BELKIN). Before, when I was using the Wi-Fi on the NETGEAR, port forwarding worked fine, except for having to re-forward ports after my dynamic ip changed. Now, because of the BELKIN router, I can't forward anything? I went into the router management at 192.168.2.1 (for the Belkin), went to Virtual servers forwarded the port 25565 No one can connect to my Minecraft server, only when I plug my computer into my NETGEAR with ethernet (hardwire).

Any device that I use connected wirelessly to my Belkin N300 router only acheives about 1.3 MBps of download speed. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just changed my router to a Belkin N+ Wireless Router (F5D8235uk4) My home network is on the 10.0.0.0 ip address range.
I changed the routers IP address to 10.0.0.2 (same as my last one) and the subnet is set to 255.0.0.0
My problem is that whilst my PC's are in the 10.0.0.10 to 10.0.0.20 range my NAS ip is 10.10.10.10 and when I go into the port forwarding (virtual servers) settings on the router it only let's me set the last octet with the first three octets set to 10.0.0. and these can't be changed so I can't port forward to my nas.
Surely the virtual servers should be able to forward to any PC in the subnet, not just those in a 255.255.255.0 subnet? I don't want to change my nas IP address even though that would fix this issue.
I have tried everything possible with this modem and router. I cant figure it out. I tried the router in bridge mode, tried opening the ports up on both of them.

Application: Comcast
Port From: 888
Protocol: Both
IP: 192.168.100.1
Port To: 80
I understand that his modem admin page is now available from the internet. He said his friend set this up to "modem", but I don't see any advantage of having this done. I have a ZyXel Q1000 modem and a Trendnet TEW-452BRP router. The TRENDnet is serving a PS3, Xbox, Wii, and 2 iMacs and the ZyXel is serving the TRENDnet.
My public IP for the ZyXel is 65.xxx.xx.152 and it's IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a range of 192.168.0.2-254 My TRENDnet IP is 192.168.1.1 and a range of 192.168.1.100-199
I have setup a Virtual Server on the TRENDnet using HTTP, Protocol TCP 80/80 and LAN Server 198.168.1.109 (my iMac localhost). I have also setup Application forwarding and Port forwarding on both the modem and router (at different times, trying to resolve this).
Naturally none of those worked. I don't know if I need a Port forwarded or Application forwarding or the Virtual Server. Also don't know if either of those need to be on one or both devices.
All I do know is to access my localhost from the Internet, all I need to do is put http://65.xxx.xx.152 in the address bar of a browser outside my network, and my modem/and or router should forward the request to my iMac and my localhost:8080.
But every configuration I have tried does nothing of the sort.

This modem is not recognized by the router, a Belkin wireless G model, F5D7234-4 V5. After numerous attempts to restart both the modem and the router, the modem light does not turn on, nor is a wireless connection recognized by my computer, a new Macbook Pro. The router worked fine with the AT&T connection.
